I mean nowadays, because when I registered there was a lot of spam, but someone tell me this isn't stupid.

100 Push-Ups A Day Until Bitcoin Is $100K Challenge

I had seen the thread before and I guess because of the title I hadn't stopped to read it but now I see that it is 174 pages long, a spam megathread at its best.

You are being completely unreasonable here. I don't see anything wrong with that thread or those posting in it, besides, the thread has some very active and high-quality members of the forum, so I'm pretty sure they are doing something that isn't harmful for the forum or for the participants of the challenge. A 100 Push-ups a day for a healthy person is not a big deal, no one is supposed to do them all at once. Any regular person with a good enough physique can do at least 40 to 50 push-ups at once, as far as I know. So it's not a bad or harmful thing to do even if it's done for fun or done as a challenge.

I imagine it's a fake, but if Satoshi really said that, in this case he said some nonsense. You can be very intelligent and say some nonsense from time to time, it's not incompatible.

Come on now, even a kid would get the humor in that and know that it's just editing and it's done for fun. I literally see nothing wrong with that, I had a chuckle when I first read that.

Apart from what you have mentioned, this thread became heaven for the merit farmers and abusers. Whether they do the pushups or not, they report regularly to get some merits, and some forum members never disappoint them. I have been checking some profiles lately and noticed they use some threads to farm merits, and this thread is one of them. Another one is the Buy Dip Hold thread, which they use.

I checked and didn't see unusual meriting in the thread. It's not like every user posting in that thread is surely getting merits from other users but only the posts that are worth meriting are getting merits. Besides, even if users get a merit or a couple by lying about the reports they are making and aren't actually doing the exercises, I believe it's their loss, at the end of the day.

~snip~
I'm going to report it again to off topic. I'm sure it won't grow at the rate of 22 pages a month there.
Edit, I was going to report it and I see this:

Old post: We generally do not moderate posts this old for on-topicness, substantiveness, multi-posting, and other "cleanliness" issues.

Regardless of the warning, it does not prevent you from reporting that thread. I know that topic exists, but I didn't pay attention to the same one because it's quite meaningless to me, and if we're going to be honest, it's more appropriate for something like that to be in Off-topic than in the Speculation board.

If we're going to be completely honest, if it was started by a beginner or a low-ranking member, that topic would have been moved a long time ago - although those who expressed their "support" would certainly not agree with that.

At first you might think that this is just a funny way of doing sport, but no, if you know anything about physical education, doing 100 push-ups a day is bollocks to begin with, but here's what's most relevant:

I imagine it's a fake, but if Satoshi really said that, in this case he said some nonsense. You can be very intelligent and say some nonsense from time to time, it's not incompatible.

And in this case, to think that doing 100 push-ups has anything to do with what happens in the price has more to do with going with a loincloth than with any rational speculation.

That does not belong to speculation, as the first comment says:

This may seem related to bitcoin speculation but it is not bitcoin speculation at all. We are not speculation on bitcoin price but to know if someone can know if he or she can go up to 100 push ups before bitcoin hit six digits. This belongs to off-topic.

I'm going to report it again to off topic. I'm sure it won't grow at the rate of 22 pages a month there.

Edit, I was going to report it and I see this:

I actually visited the thread you called stupid, well to me there is nothing wrong with the thread , The thread is just a kind of challenge which every member of Bitcointalk is welcome to join while speculating that Bitcoin will reach $100k and I think that thread is good for every members of Bitcointalk because of health benefits. you even joined the challenge from what I saw in the thread so why the change of mind.lastly the thread was created by high rank member, OgNasty and i believe the merit source there dont just give out merit to post that is not worth it.so there is nothing stupid about it.

I don't think it's stupid. But it could follow Wall Observer's treatment, where the thread doesn't show signature.
Or we may need a new sub in the name of "BTC fun zone" along the sides of off-topic and serious discussion, bcoz of rapid growing of serious bitcoiners Shocked

The image was not there before if I can remember. This is the unedited topic: https://ninjastic.space/topic/5484350. I am not saying the image is real or not real but it might not be real.

I think the reason moderator thought it does not belong to off-topic is because of how it is connected to bitcoin price. Like if it gone trendy, more people can also know about bitcoin from there.

That's called humour, it's not related to sport or to the bitcoin price itself, only people who call it "nonsense" can't get the humour.
But that text/phrase, idk if its actual said by satoshi to Sirius (Martini) in an email conversation publicized by Martini, check https://mmalmi.github.io/satoshi/

I assume the screenshot you posted is just an edited one. The bold text looks edited. But even if it's not edited, I don't think Satoshi ever said something like that. I will be happy if I get proved wrong.

The image has been edited. In the link where Martini's emails are found, email #129 does not say anything like that. And nowhere does the term “push-ups” appear...
I checked the link and based on the screenshot's date it should be "Email #1" in Martini's page, the rest are edited. So yeah, it's just a joke and as i said, it's all about the humor as there's no connection about it on btc price lol.
The thread just continued for several pages due to price speculation with the edited screenshot taken from Satoshi's convo with Sirius which is the interesting part.

I also noticed the same thing too that some users farm merits in most of this threads and take advantage of the merit sources active in those threads but then I observed that they don’t just issue out merits without reading a post and they don’t merit low quality posts or spammers so they still have make good posts even though they just keep repeating themselves over and over again although there are some informative posts in the thread “Buy the Dip and Hodl”.

As for 100 push up challenge i don’t think those farming merits actually keep up with the pushups they are clearly after the merits. Only a few people on that thread will be consistent with the push ups. If they can keep up I don’t see anything wrong in the challenge, it’s actually a good way to be healthy and keep fit.

In the end, it's all just a joke, which I see no harm in doing. And I also don't consider it spam, as they are not doing anything wrong, and are literally speculating the price. Probably one day they will achieve the proposed objective.

As for those who are there in search of merit, that is the responsibility of those who give them merit. As has already been widely debated, the criteria for attributing merit is individual, and it is not the existence of this type of topic, which prevents merits from being distributed as each person wants.
