Conor McGregor will not fight on June 29. It appears that he cannot stop drinking hehehehe.
I am telling everyone that Khabib finished his MMA carrier a long time ago, everything after that was living off his old glory.
Main event for that card now is Pereira vs Prochazka and I really think this is going to be much better to watch.
Dana now has to sell everyone new story that McGregor will fight in winter or in 2025  Grin

Chandler risked everything for this fight, waited for a long time, and then this happened.
The main event now is Jiri vs Alex 2 which we already know what will again be the result. Dana recycled this match. Not what the fans wanted to see, the Irishmen booked to travel to Vegas for Conor. Anyway, it's a shirt notice for both, but Alex is well-rounded and has been moving from different weight classes since his time in kickboxing and in UFC, he knows what he is doing.

Jiri in his latest activity, was cutting down to be on MW. He was trying to make around 2-3 fights a year so he decided to move down. Dana just granted his wish but fighting Pereira again is a terrible matchup.

^ I just saw the news. I don’t know if it’s believable or not, but at least we have an official statement about Conor’s participation. As soon as I saw him giving those interviews for Roadhouse I knew his career was over. It seems like some people on his team have finally talked him into saving his legacy by calling it quits. We’ll see though. Maybe it is just an injury.

A career-threatening injury he had since July 2021, the last time he fought a UFC fight. Quitting to fight a UFC fight will save him a lot and his legacy will be kept as one of the most respected UFC fighters.

Apparently Chimaev got injured and they're going to have to replace him with Ikram Aliskerov, it's a miracle Volka wasn't chosen haha.

And about Chimaev, the only thing they said, from what I saw, was that he's violently ill.

That’s a bummer. Chimaev is my favorite fighter to watch right now. He’s always putting a beating on people. I also already have a bet placed on this fight so it’s a bummer to think that will be cancelled. Maybe there’s a chance he’ll still fight? I guess we’ll have to wait for the next one…

Bummer...  I think we'll finally see Chim lose.  Lolol.

If it's true what they say, that he had to pull out due to that previously broken leg, then it's probably over for him. I don't expect he'll ever officially announce his retirement, as people speculating on whether or not he'll ever return to the octagon keeps the hype alive.
Sucks to be Michael Chandler right now. Will he wait for another few months to see how things unfold, or will he finally let go and move on?

Yup...  He thought he was finally gonna get paid, but no.  Lol.  It's like when you already have a flush on the flop and the other guy has two pair and the river is a card that gives him a full house.  Cheesy Cheesy  Tough luck bro.

Anyway back to the event.  Official weigh ins are going to start in three hours.  Let's see how these guys look on the scale.

Maybe someone else with name "**** *****son" (easy trivia with 1 merit as a prize), who also havent won since 2020 is going to win finally?

Tony Ferguson? His latest win was in 2019 though.

Correct. Recently I saw Dana talking much that he wish Tony would retire. So I guess August 3 on UFC on ABC 7 there is going to be last fight for Tony in UFC. However, Tony is talking all the time that with every fight, he is getting better (despite his record). So we might see his loss series to continue in other promotions.

Wikipedia has already updated UFC 303 page. No more McGregor vs Chandler in the card and poster. I had inner feeling that their fight is not going to happen. Something inside tells me that Conor is not interesting in fighting, but his narcissism pushes him to train to keep body in shape, to look good in he mirror and on public. Dont know how long Chandler should wait more. Since 2021 he only beat Tony, and lost rest of the fights. I think Chandler would start running out of money soon Cheesy

News update.

Conor McGregor will not fight on June 29. It appears that he cannot stop drinking hehehehe. The sports news media are publishing articles that he has an injury, however, I speculate that he will never fight in the UFC anymore and he might also announce his retirement from MMA. This will be coming soon hehehee. The broken leg might have given him a very big psychological fear that it might be broken again.

Conor McGregor's nearly three-year layoff from the UFC will become even longer, as the Irishman withdrew from his UFC 303 fight against Michael Chandler on Thursday.

UFC president Dana White announced McGregor's exit, only saying that the Irishman had sustained an injury.

The main event, set to take place June 29, will be replaced by a light heavyweight title rematch between champion Alex Pereira and former champion Jiri Procházka. Pereira previously defeated Procházka via second-round TKO to win the chronically vacant belt at UFC 295 last November.

As for the fans who are waiting for the McGregor-Chandler fight, it has been cancelled due to McGregor suffering from an injury.

Conor McGregor vs Michael Chandler is officially OFF, it has been confirmed.
UFC 303 on the 29th of June was set to play host to the long-awaited return of Notorious Conor McGregor, but the news we all feared has been confirmed; the fight is no more.
Here's also the official announcement coming from Dana White himself on his X account just 30 mins ago. https://twitter.com/danawhite/status/1801444064694571073
Now the main event would be Alex Pereira Vs. Jiri Prochazka. Pereira has now given the opportunity to revenge his friend, his coach Glover Teixeira who lost against Prochazka due to a rear naked choke.

I think one of the refs goals is to not let fighter get serious health problems during the fight. With the situation in Cannonier vs Imavov, Cannonier got like 20 or 25 strikes. Some of them he has defended, some of them have connected, but he hasnt thrown anything in counter. That is why ref could have though that it was a standing knockout and Cannonier was acting only on reflexes.

But that's the thing, Canonnier was in trouble but clearly wasn't acting on reflexes alone, he wasn't throwing many punches because it would be a reckless thing to do, instead he was keeping his guard up and was looking for a clinch.
He actually did throw a right hook, got countered with a left that didn't really land and then the referee stopped it.

Btw, on judges score cards, it was 2-1 on two cards in Cannonier favor and 1-1 by that time. Anyway they have a soil for a rematch now. Imavov and Cannonier are #4 and #5 and have switched places. I dont that Cannonier has lost much from that loss (except money and record). He was not on series of wins. So it would be good if UFC match makers make them meet again.

That loss might not have had much impact on his ranking position, but Jared is 40 years old, if he was hoping for another title shot in his career, he couldn't afford any stepbacks.
Sure, a rematch would make a lot of sense, but it's not really going to be a dream fight for either of them.

^  I think Cannonier is done after the loss.  It's a pity as I would rather see him in a main event vs DDP than Imavov if he comes to that point one day...

Here's a couple of replays that you guys will like watching...  Watch the Andrade one first.  Cheesy

Jared Cannonier already commented on that fight - he had lost not to Imavov, but to a ref Cheesy

Now a serious moment. Found from fight video review, and this only link as a proof so far. Turns out that Cannonier camp was tough, because his wife suffered a late-term miscarriage. That thing can kick out soil from foot easily.

A little bit to previous tournament - wasnt Dominick Reyes the guy who gave Bones one of the toughest fights ? Reyes finally won, after 4 years of losses. Maybe someone else with name "**** *****son" (easy trivia with 1 merit as a prize), who also havent won since 2020 is going to win finally?

Some vids to watch...

This one is one of Tatsuro Taira.  He's a grappler and a very good one vs guys who are outside the top 10.  But to fight somebody like Alex Perez who has a lot of experience in the UFC, I would be very impressed if he could finish him in under 2.5 rounds.  A lot of guys also thought Mokaev could finish Perez early.  But no...  The match went the distance.

And keep in mind this is a 5 rounder.  If ever Perez takes Taira in deep waters, it would very may well be Perez finishing Taira in R4 or R5.

He looks like a young man who can finish Perez. Perez took the short notice but this fight may just be for Tatsuro, he'd be ranking up already for a title shot if he isn't matched up against Mokaev which is more likely. I think this is when the younger fighters are going to take the place of the ones that are going up to BW. Perez will have to move up too, I don't think he ever get a 2nd chance for the TS.

Tatsuro will be the ones to mess up the records of the guys that won't move to Bantamweight. Tatsuro still young, and even if he loses he is still going to get a title shot and there is Mokaev probably the gatekeeper in the division.

Tatsuro by Sub.

Yeah Perez could may well be finished early but a lot of guys thought he'd be finished early vs Mokaev too.  But Perez went the distance and had some good moments in there too.  He went on to fight Nicolau just over a month later...  A match which almost everyone thought Nicolau was gonna win.  But no, Perez got him at R2.  And here we are just over a month since knocking out Nicolau.  The only worry for the guys backing Perez is he might not given himself enough time to recover.

Oh and a nice little stat for Perez vs Mokaev is Mokaev attempted 20 TD's and got only three...  Not sure what Taira's gas tank would be like at R4 if Perez could defend most of his TD's.

Edit:  And yes...  Taira vs Mokaev would really be a good match up.

Gives a doubt when you think of the TD stat?  That's gotta be the strongest TD considering Mokaev is a very experienced fighter. And to think Tatsuro hasn't fought 25 mins constant ramble. The kid has the firepower to KO though, there is a chance that he could stun Perez and then TD to make it effective.

There is more to gain for Tatsuro to win this match which I think will give him enough motivation. He been shafted for awhile already, it should be his time to shine.

I feel like that young blood will finish Perez early. Probably read naked choke. I just dont like that series of 3 straight losses in Perez record. I mean he has beaten all non-top guys, and lost to mostly every top guy. And we have a young 15-0 prospect against him.

But I am more focused on Aliskerov vs Trócoli fight. Aliskerov has only 1 loss, to Chimaev. And this Trocoli only on the paper looks like a no-name, when in fact he is a 12-3 Brazilian that chokes people Cheesy I remember people in media saying give Aliskerov someone from top, and he will submit him (for example it was said that Costa would be an easy win for him). Here is Trocoli, a mini Costa from Brazil for a test for him Cheesy

Tatsuro Taira looks really like a kid but this kid is about to fly high while Alex Perez looks like he is about to destroy an undefeatable kid but this kid is going to bite and looks can be very deceiving as Taira can drown his opponent with some sick submission moves so this is going to be a great one to watch as Perez once was book against Tagir Ulanbekov but the fight was Rebooked and right now we had Tatsuro Taira for sure this kid will need all the fight the UFC will give him.

While Ikram Aliskerov is fighting aswell the Dagestani that is about to fight by Paolo Costa is having another fight and his opponent is Antonio Trócoli, it should be André Muniz but Muniz withdrew and the reasons are still unknown.
