I will leave my predictions here:

Makhachev will lose, if he doesn't lose Dustin will show the way on how to defeat him and in his next fight Makhachev loses.

Strickland beats Paulo by knockout, the judges won't need to decide this one.

That is a very brave prediction of yours hehehe. I will also offer a brave prediction. I predict Islam Makhachev will win against Dustin Poirier very much similar to Khabib and this will be with a rear naked choke hehe.

In any case, I wish @Saint-loup will not see this prediction because he might again challenge me to bet against him and I will again be forced to be brave heheheheeh. This might become another donation for him. However, yes it will be a rear naked choke.

Yes, at the beginning of next month we will see the UFC 302 fight which will bring together great fighters and is the one that many people have been waiting for the most.
Islam Makhachev will fight Dustin Poirier and in this fight Islam Makhachev defends the UFC lightweight title he got after defeating Charles Oliveira and I sure that in this effort to defend the belt and title, Islam will definitely give his best fight.
Moreover, Islam Makhachev also has desire to move up and focus on welterweight and he is of course targeting all of this when he succeeds in beating Dustin Poirier at UFC 302, this will be very interesting fight.
Dustin Poirier is also not fighter who can be underestimated, we all know how he was when he fought with the UFC and in this fight, even though Islam Makhachev is the favorite, there will still be surprises that Dustin Poirier might give.

Belal vs Leon will likely be just jabs fight. Belal was outclassed in their first fight and cried after an eye poke.  He has been tweeting a lot like he has been an exciting KO artist actually when he hasn't done much, what did Strickland do to him, they've been beefing on Twitter.

I wouldn't mind seeing Belal be the champ for a while to pay respect to his "Remember the Name" alias. And that we could also see reshuffling in this division, maybe they'd give Rakhmonov someone from the top to fight with.

Maybe, he is hallucinating when he said he is a KO artist or just exaggerating because that's what he wants to be remembered.  Grin Grin I don't think he can live up to his nickname though he may be more of the opposite here - Forget the Name..lol Looking at his percentage of KO wins vs his total wins, it is not that much. He had more wins via decision. So don't know why he is claiming to be a KO artist. Well, athletes can always sell themselves and see if their fans or opponents will take the bait. The more controversy they can create, the better. As they can pull more fans to watch their fight. That's an old tactic of most athletes, they try to sell themselves by exaggerating things or creating some noise to talk about.

^  I think it's in the realms of possibility that Belal could wrestle fck Edwards and hold him down, throwing bombs on him.  It's not gonna be a pretty fight but I think it could be a lot closer than anticipated.

Belal "I am next" Muhammad. Finally that kid gets a title fight Cheesy I am happy for him more than for Chandler who is getting a juicy cheque soon. But I would not be happy if Belal wins lol Cheesy That will be most boring title defences. If not he is super cautious and barely can do an early finish, then if he gets a belt, he will keep it forever and we get 25 min with UD in the end.

After all that sh*t talking about him, I want to see your face when Belal wins in a spectacular fashion by a brutal KO  Grin
Not betting my money on that though.

I have never talked shit about him, just laughed and trolled Cheesy And all only due to him boring fighter with pillow fists and not being able to finish his opponent, while saying that he is a cool and great fighter. I will continue trolling until he will perform some more finishes Cheesy Your words Belal and brutal KO already sounds like a joke honestly speaking Cheesy Where have you found odds on their fight ? What is the odd for Belal by KO ? Cheesy

Nothing much to learn for this event except Murphy has the cardio to go all 5 rounds, Kleydson Rodriguez is lower level than what I expected him to be and Magomedov also has the cardio to finish the whole 15 minutes.

Next event is UFC 302 set in a couple of weeks.  Can't wait...

Is anyone excited about tonight's UFC Event? Given it's just a Fight Night even and collides with the Fury Vs Usyk megafight, the UFC didn't bring in any high profile fighters. The only guy I'm familiar here is Barboza, who will be the underdog against Lerone Murphy. I've done some quick search on Murphy, he's undefeated (with one draw though), got 7 out of his 13 wins by KO, and the rest by decision. Very possible it'll be a 100% striking match, as both of them prefer stand up.
It's a big chance for Murpgy to possibly break into the top 15. And who knows, maybe if he wins and suffer no damage, they would put him on the UFC 304 card (main or prelim), given it's in Manchester, UK and that's where he's from.

~snip~

You really have a great point here. McGregor is more of a business guy than a fighter. We can't expect much from him, as much of the vacation was really spent resting, in his own way. And I don't believe he's in his best shape right now.
Let just talk about what makes more sense, if it was only about money then McGregor wouldn't return to the fighting ring and of course he would prefer to do business and spend lot of time developing each of his businesses but I don't think that the reason.
McGregor has had quite an impressive experience with the UFC, even though at the end of his collaboration with the UFC he experienced destruction due to defeats and injuries, but now he will rise to avenge all his previous destruction.
He came back because he loves fighting, he came back to fight to prove that he still deserves to be one of the important parts of the UFC, I think this is much more appropriate reason.
Maybe McGregor has rested and spent a lot of time until he was at home for more than 2 years with the previous decision to retire from the UFC, but all of that was because he was injured and now he is recovering, has fit and strong body.
Moreover, after recovering from his injury, McGregor is still quite active in going to the gym to strengthen himself and now is the right time for him to return.

Actually I wanted to see him fight Khabib Nurmagomedov again but unfortunately Khabib also decided to retire early from the UFC.

The latest on UFC 304 Aspinall vs Curtis 2. Contains Dana's take.

Seem to make sense because the first fight was won by injury and the fight didn't take long, we never see any action. This needs to happen before anything else. Hopefully, we'll see how Tom fights Curtis before Jones. If Jones really has plans to fight Tom.

So the UFC decided to run it back...  Nice.  It's somewhat a safe match up for Aspinall but something that could give him a new look if Blaydes decide to go all out and wrestle this guy.  There'll be times when Aspinall's TD defense will be tested and he'll prolly have his back on the canvass at other times with Blaydes throwing bombs at him.  Lmao.

But then again it could be done in under 1.5 rounds with Aspinall winning via KO.  Dunno...  But yeah, good match up imho.

Official weigh ins will be live in 3 hours or so.

Why not jus accept that Duelbits got a nice piece of pie with that McGregor return to UFC, and move on to upcoming event? I dont want to speculate much his return, future in sports and etc. I find it better to discuss him in a separate topic, something like business and McGregor, as I dont see him as a promising athlete anymore. We should not expect much from him after a 3 year pause. He is not a Jon Jones Cheesy

I don't think Tom's injury in their first fight warranted any rematch, but Blaydes was simply the best option available. Obviously Cyril Gane was ranked higher, but according to Tom's video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fZ9cF4Ea60c he was not interested in fighting in Manchester on that date as allegedly it collided with his acting commitments. So Curtis it is.
I'm really glad to see that Aspinall wants to stay active and is not avoiding fights with fighters ranked below him. And having the chance to avenge his only loss (if you can call it that) is always a plus.

That confuses me for a long period also. For me it is obvious that Conor has no motivation or interest to fighting anymore. It is kind ambitious that are pushing him all the time. He is in a trap of his image. He can't fall flat on his face. He must keep his badass, biggest mouth, money hype image. But in his last fight we see a boring guy who is not hungry anymore. How much tickets cost for McGregor vs Chandler? I have heard that around 2k and they were sold out instantly. I would never ever pay so much to look on a fighter who isnt in his prime, isnt motivated. Instead I would better buy a licensed dvd (if there are such) with his past fight during prime.

Well, At the end of the day, this is all just money and you are right Conor McGregor is not hungry for winning anymore but is hungry just getting the money and this is just boring for us but for the fans of both McGregor and Chandler they wanted this and to watch this that is why we can not understand it because they are some follower for me blind followers perhaps but yeah it was all for the money and yeah even if this fight was just going to bore us it will still mark an etch in the history of the MMA that is for sure.

He has too many fans. I don't know why but besides kids, adults are his fans too. I know a person who is a well-grown adult and is still his fan till this day and thinks he is the coolest person in this universe. There are many like him. By the way, I'll never forget Dana White's face when he says word Connor. He can't hide his smile.

That is for sure but right now I really don't recognize Conor McGregor as a fighter anymore but more of a clown who just wanted the masses' approval because he certainly has many fans he still got the head of the UFC Dana White's approval and this fight that he wants he got it anyway just because he got so many fans and that he is the hype king for sure we can not take that name on him because that is who he is but well because of this even UFC will have a bunch of money coming just from this 1 fight or 1 event.

^  Yup, that they did.  Lol.  I wonder why no other sports betting site tried to snag him.  :/

Anyway, let's get the discussion back to the next event.  I see a lot of talk but there's almost no info as far as your leans and your picks are concerned.

It doesn't have to be a long drawn out explanation on why you picked a spot.  Just put it out there and give a short reason.

Check this one out.  Post USADA it looks like all the other guys have gotten a lot more durable.  I wonder why.  Grin

Conor bought a casino. Conor performed in the movie, which is still among popular/new. Conor hypes on Instagram all the time. Conor finally is having a return and ticket are already sold out. Conor, Conor, Conor. I am going to wipe away my tears of happiness for Chandler and the amount of money he going to earn if he wasnt stupid and asked for a % from PPV sales Cheesy Conor did a great job selling their fight.

P.S. Michael Chandler if you are somehow reading this - adopt me. I eat little, I'm not picky. You wont have to waste money on diapers or college. But I'm capricious  Grin

He will only fight for what he can win even if he loses! If he loses in the fight, OK, he will have a percentage on tickets, people watching, bets or some marketing. It doesn't matter, he will always win.
