@eaLiTy. I speculate that he only needs money. Some mentions of him in social media has been saying that he was spending much of his time in Las Vegas and then it suddenly stopped.

In any case, the fight game has left him. He is presently only an out of date mixed martial artist.

This is clickbait hype by mmajunkie and only looking for attention by Nick. Nick Diaz has not fought in the octagon for 4 years. Darren Till kill him hehehe.

Also, watch Nick's interview with Ariel Helwani. Nick appeared to have cte damage. I speculate that to be the hidden reason why Nick has never returned to the UFC.
Even Dana White announced that Nick Diaz approached him and he is looking for a money fight, the fighters that are talked about are GSP  rematch and there are talks about Conor.

Another news is that Khamzat Chimaev got a visa finally and now he is booked to fight in the US this month against Gerald Meerschaert and he booked his second fight in fight island Dubai and that too against Demian Maia which is crazy. I have not heard or seen any fighter being booked twice back to back and his fight against Demian Maia is a series step up in competition and i seriously feel that he is rushing things and might backfire.

~snip~

After watching the full fight replay I agree. Overeem was taking it slow, mostly defending and blocking most of the shots. Sakai was throwing his combo mostly into Overeem guard and expending a lot of energy. You can see Overeem becoming more aggressive and prowling in 3rd round. I saw a lot of people giving rounds to Sakai, but personally I would only give 1 round out of first 3 if I was a judge. Clean one for Overeem.

I think the game plan was take it slowly for the first three and take Sakai to deep waters at rounds 4 and 5.  It worked.  Overeem is such a savvy vet.
I was watching all of his fights in the past 4 years and he usually starts keeping distance away from the heavy punch and in the heavy weight division anyone who could swing and connect could knock anyone out and he is careful and he very well knows about his chin and now he is able to take fighters down and ground and pound is a complete transition from his kick boxing roots.

Sure..  But not like this.  It really looked like he deliberately took Sakai to the fourth and fifth and threw hard knees to the body while he was at it to slow Sakai down and get the wind put of him.  Worked like a charm.  He was able to take him down easy starting at the fourth.

There are many talks about Nick Diaz finally coming back to octagon with some new UFC fight.
People around him say he is ready for this, and first who want this fight is Daren Till.
I think many UFC fans would be happy to see Diaz back, but let's wait and see:

^  Yup.. Lol  I saw a lot of people who were backing Sakai.  But really, Overeem is a jump in competition from the past fighters he's fought.  There are tiers of gate keepers and Overeem is a high quality gate keeper.  Grin

Honestly, the result of this fight surprised me a lot, but with Overeem I guess everything is possible. I didn't have time to watch the fight and i'm pretty behind so I will first go and watch the fight to see how Overeem managed to do it and come back with more thoughts.

The Diaz brothers only know what they are thinking as they are wired differently than the others  Cheesy and Nick Diaz was always a big money fighter for over a decade and his fans will be eager to see him return for a very long time and the reason for this hiatus is that he was banned for smoking weed which is ridiculous and once he returns many fighters will be lining up to fight him as he is a big money fight

I really thought Sakai was winning in the first round but that take-down and a cut from the hammer fist of Overeem gave the impression that Alistair Overeem really controls this match until Sakai cuts and make Alistair bleed from the elbow he threw, I really think that both men did a great job a bloodied  Sakai can not continue anymore, Sakai really can't handle longer periods of rounds that is why Overeem dominated the fight in the last rounds, I have lost for betting on Sakai but I am still glad that Wreck-It Ralph wins it.

What i liked about Alistair Overeem is that he is always evolving as a fighter, he was cautious in the first two rounds and then he was able to break Sakai and he took him down and controlled majority of the fight and finished him on the ground and when you look back he was winning the fight against Jairzinho Rozenstruik until he was knocked down and with 4 seconds to go the referee called off the fight without giving him a chance to recover if not he would have won that fight.

Overall it was a good fight card for me Smiley.

I just read the reports about Brock Lesnar out of the WWE and Jon Jones challenging him for a heavyweight bout. If that fight doesn't come to fruition but Brock still decides to sign up for the UFC, I'd like to see him fight Overeem again. That should be a good one  Grin

I posted earlier regarding the Brock Lesnar stituation, even if Brock fights Overeem again i am picking Overeem because he is a much better fighter and he is more than capable of handling him on the ground.

now with Brock Lesnar a free agent there are talks about Jon Jones taking on Brock Lesnar and even Dana White is willing to make this fight happen if Brock Lesnar is interested to come back to the UFC, but there are other talks about Fedor Emelianenko and Brock Lesnar and the odds makers have already gave Brock Lesnar as the favorite against Fedor Emelianenko but he is an underdog against Jon Jones.

so he is not stopping any time soon, few more years as he said:

While watching the press conference everyone was asking about his retirement and he shut everyone down and he is still eyeing for another title run.

Alistair Overeem win by TKO.
Fight started slower, but I expected to see him win in the end, and it looks like he wants to fight again after he spends some time with his family,

I was not expected that Overeem vs Sakai fight would last 5 rounds. The fight ended in 30 sec after 5th rounded started. Quite a usual one leg submission by Overeem and elbows and punches after. As he just waited for 5th round and then used his combo.

As for Sakai..  Dunno.  A lot of people are backing him.  Overeem is better than him everywhere...  But that chin.  Lawl.  They're fading that chin.  His chin survived at his last fight vs Walt Harris tho.  Go look that up.  You'll be 'wtf hooow?'.
The chin of Alistair Overeem is the only doubt even i have in this fight, a lucky punch and a weak chin could end up in a loss  Grin. Still i am going with Alistair Overeem  as i think he will be able to drag Augusto Sakai to the later rounds, i am wagging my bet on Alexander Romanov, Alexander Romanov and Brian Kelleher in this card and hopefully everyone i predicted wins Cheesy .

Good fight cart tonight with some interesting fights to watch.
I have listened Alistair Overeem pre-fight interview he gave few days ago, and I came to conclusion this could be his last fight, as he is fighting for long time, almost two decades. Odd for his win are nice and I will be taking this bet.
He is one of the legends of the sport with 79 fights both in MMA and Kick Boxing and a long 21 years of fighting and the toll it will have will be incredible and still he is fighting against the top fighters which in itself is a great achievement and if this is a farewell fight i respect his decision and i wish he could retire on a winning note.

I am not wagging a bet in this fight card, just watching this as fan Smiley.
