Episode 4 - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z-HUW20_N4c

Jose Aldo looks drained judging from his face.

I hope everyone makes weight and be hydrated enough for the fight. If main card starts at 8:00 AM as suggested by @tokeweed, they could be fighting under the sun with 40°C+. That's going to be tough even for these pro fighters.

The main card is gonna start at 22:00 EST, so that's 6:00 in the morning Abu Dhabi time?  Looks like it's gonna be around sunrise and main event at around 8:00.  Lol.
That is correct.
I heard Max Holloway complaining about this.
Not sure how it will affect all fighters, but ones that adapt faster may have advantage.

I do not remember anyone stopping Jorge Masvidal and the fight going the distance is a real possibility as he is a really tough fighter, the climate situation in the fight island is going to be humid and Usman might not get the grip to hold Jorge Masvidal down and i really like the set ups Masvidal does to land the knockout punch in some of his fights and there is no doubt he is a superior striker than Usman.
I agree with you.
Also Masvidal will fight with less pressure, as he achieved what he wanted and secured his family future with this good deal, win or lose.

Looking at odds, I can see that they dropped a bit for Masvidal, but Usman is still strong favorite.
Can Masvidal upset Usman?
Maybe, but betting on fight going to distance looking good to me.

My picks for this fight card are, Petr Yan, Rose Namajunas, Amanda Ribas, Muslim Salikhov.

^  I think it's going under 4.5.  IMHO.  I already made the bet.

And here's the cage by the beach.  Are they really gonna be fighting there??

In some interview, Khabibs father said their goal is to make 30-0 record and after that Khabibs peak of skills will go down. Dont know if this was a joke or he was serious about it. Maybe this was his dream.
The reason Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov was telling about retirement is because he wants to have opportunity for his other students to shine especially Islam Makhachev who he thought could equally dominate everyone and he knows as an athlete that you cannot be in top shape for eternity and there is a peak time to perform and get out without having any damage.

About the money: Khabibs manager Ali Abdelaziz said that Khabib earn alot from seminars, around $100k per day. As a coach, he would earn not leas than he earns for the fight. Khabib is a shy person, he doesnt like to show off and do spending spree. He doesnt really care much about money.
Khabib Nurmagomedov is the most humble celebrity to could find, hats off to his modest outlook and the way in which he respects everyone that deserves respect.

I don't see why he should retire because of that. If anything he should continue on and do him proud. Khabib doesn't really seem to be all about the money though whereas before his father has said things somewhat contradictory in the media such as that if the money was right he will fight Connor again etc. Khabib doesn't seem to have been active on social media since it happened though so hopefully he will continue on and fight Gaethje on UFC 253.

^  It's a three rounder.  Andrade could empty the gas tank and go ape shit insane for the whole three rounds.  She's a live dog at 2.65.

Edit:  Still..  Sucks with Burns out and Khabib's dad.  You guys think Khabib's really gonna retire?

Didn't realise that the Fight Island was going to be so early in the morning over there. They're roughly on the same time zone as the UK normally so the fights are on at a reasonable time but I guess they're doing it so early for the US audiences which sucks for the Europeans. Would have liked to have watched the card live but I might just catch it in the morning now. I'll see if any other fighters drop out as it wouldn't surprise me if someone else tests positive for Covid especially when Masvidal's coach did which could end up with him being out if he tests positive at some point.

Also looks like Mike Perry has been caught doing a McGregor and taken to OAP boxing: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8505009/Horrifying-moment-UFC-fighter-Mike-Perry-caught-video-punching-elderly-man.html

Yeah I don't think so too...  Now.  A few hours after his dad died, I heard that Khabib announced he was gonna have a press conference but then pulled out hours later.  He prolly had a knee jerk reaction then got to his senses.

And lawl.  That's prolly the end for Perry.

Damn Dana not even wearing a mask while talking to Usman on the plane (Ep. 3).

A lot of training adjustments made by the fighters and their team due to the pandemic. Kudos to them for remaining professional and ready to fight.

Rose Namajunas looks well prepared (Ep. 2).

Mike Brown the coach of Jorge Masvidal tested positive for corona virus and Paul Felder is pulled from the commentary team fearing of exposure from the virus as he was travelling with another coach Din Thomas who also tested positive. The UFC is doing a really good job monitoring and testing everyone and these people were asymptomatic and because of the testing by the UFC they came to know about the infection and hopefully there will not be any further change for the fight card.
Hopefully there wont be any more changes and Jorge Masvidal tested negative when they tested in the US and they are waiting for the test reults in he UAE and if Paul Felder is taken off the commentary team fearing that he got exposed with another coach then why is the same precaution taken against Jorge Masvidal and the number of people it might spread if he is infected especially his opponent Usman. Just saying that the UFC is not applying the same standards here, pulling a commentator but allow the fight.

^  Some talks swirling around that Masvidal was training non stop after Poirier's camp.  He was Poirier's main sparring partner.

Taking the bout at the last minute could be somewhat good for Masvidal.  He got only one guy in mind.  Usman.  While Usman was training for Burns for most of his camp.  Could be interesting...  I already got some action on the under 4.5 rounds at 1.61.  Kinda steep but it's a winner.  Wink
It is not just some talks, Dustin Poirier confirmed this during an interview he gave and said Jorge Masvidal was his training partner for his preparation for his fight against Dan Hooker and he was focused on Usman helping all these fighters out but when he was changed he stopped hard sparring but he was keeping his health in check by doing small drills to maintain the body, i am going with Masvidal because of his confidence on winning the bout and even he likes the odds and he even said in one of the interview that he should be 5 to 1 underdog  Grin.

i doubt his physical condition to last 5 rounds during pandemic and lock down as there is no gym and he was not having any fights to prepare

Here is the proof why Jorge Masvidal don't have enough stamina for 5 round fight https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jDrk0lbJtmA

It will a true pain for him cutting all that junk food if he wants to stay in his weight division, or put out with (which is harder) salary reduction.

Haha. Doesn't matter what you eat if you get the job done. Masvidal doesn't seem like an unfit or unhealthy dude to me. I'm glad he stepped up for this fight and got a deal done. I didn't think it would happen. I can't really say who is my personal favourite to win this fight. Bookies have Masvidal as the underdog but I think it will be a lot closer. Not sure I'd put money on him but there's a lot of value there. Hopefully whatever is going on with McGregor can get sorted to as I don't want to see him fully retired (not that I believe it anyway).

I just saw an article earlier with Masvidal "eating" some pizza before heading to Abu Dhabi. I don't know if he actually ate it or they just made it appear that way. Something tells me that it's just a strategy to taunt Usman even more as if he doesn't need to be fit for the fight. In a previous interview, Masvidal said he doesn't need a training camp to beat bum fighters like Usman. He seems pretty good at playing mind games.

While we are counting days till next event, to support the discussion, I propose to speak a bit about Paulo Costa.
Cant want for his fight agains Adesanya. Comparing to Adesanya, Costa looks more like a heavyweight, while Adesanya is flash and bones.

P.S. Another portion of laughter https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7oJEaj-qOI8. Sorry, I mean no harm to anyone. I'm not perfect at English also, and on camera interviewing I might probably would be even worse. I would give Costa a merit for trying to speak on the same language he is interviewed.

It appears that Dana's evil genius plan of ignoring Jorge Masvidal's demands and giving Gilbert Burns the opportunity then infecting him of the coronavirus on the last week before the fight has worked on Jorge hehehehe.
Jorge Masvidal is having a great time as Dana White was forced to bend to his demands and he is riding the best script in his career, when Burns was chosen as the next opponent for Usman i was thinking what the future holds for Masvidal but it is magically turned in his favor Cheesy.

@7788bitcoin that is a great analysis for the main event, how about the rest of the fight card as all the title shots and the main event cards are tough ones to predict but i am picking Petr Yan, Rose Namajunas and Amanda Ribas but the main events i am not sure which one to pick as of yet.

Wow! like I have said that is one good analysis I also like Masvidal style and I also think that if he would lose in this fight it really doesn't matter because his fans would say that Masvidal is unprepared with a sudden fight and he is truly bold to accept this one, and If he would really win this then that can be a good thing for him he might now get the title The Destroyer or a Legend killer as well for performing a great feat in defeating his opponent with sudden notice and in a fast pace if he could do it as fast like his fight with Askren.
I am wagging a bet for Masvidal because his striking is really awesome as he does have many setups to every opponent and it might be because of his vast experience and if you look at his career majority of the loss were really close fights and Usman does not even have the MMA experience Masvidal has if you compare his overall fight experience and the fight boils down to whether Usman is over his head taking this fight thinking it is an easy fight or is he taking it seriously and if he is taking this fight lightly then he will sleep just like Askren, just watch the fight and the setup he did for Askren, he was just talking in the cage before the fight as it was fun and he moved at an angle to get a response from Askren to level change and Askren was taking position to take Masvidal down when he got a flying knee and it is pure genius and if Usman makes the same mistake he will end up sleeping.

I liked the video, he enjoy his food, is it a big surprise as i do think that we live and do all these job to have good food and the rest of the luxury is just a bonus. Masvidal is a different animal as he used to participate in backyard brawls where there was no money and he was fighting for 17 years to get to a position where he could demand money from the UFC and if he could get that it is awesome for him and his family and he understand the value of prize fighting. We as a fan enjoys the 15 or 25 minutes they showcase but the amount of dedication and work they put behind for that 15 to 25 minutes is well above a normal human can think.
