Majority of the people who put money in bitcoin are investing on it with hopes of having a return in the near future. As we can observe, movements in cryptocurrency is quite fast when compared to stocks so people found a way to get some profits as fast as possible through investing in bitcoin without even knowing the purpose of why bitcoin was created. The effect of this though when bitcoin goes down is a panic sell because they didn't expect it to go down that much in such a short period of time. Those who invested in stock market are waiting for price movements in stocks for years while in bitcoin it is possible to move that high percentage in just a day.
To be honest, I did not see someone using bitcoin in the real world, because bitcoin is still banned in my country and there is no channel to support the use of bitcoin in reality.
People are using Bitcoin to buy a lot of things, eventhough is not in your circle of friends of stores. But, sooner or later, this will be more widely spread and eventually all the countries will allow crypto.

Maybe in your country yes there is no channel to use bitcoin in really but in other country we can use it in real world for example usa and japan.

I don't think that there is a lot of people are using bitcoin to invest because right now, most of the investment like the ICOs are tokens that are under the ethereum network so it means that they preferred ethereum more than bitcoin in accepting a payment so it means that ethereum is like the majority of the coin that is being used to invest.

We cannot say how many are investing and using bitcoins it is circulating worldwide it is hard to quantify the numbers but i guess it is getting more because of its popularity now.

To be honest, almost 90%of people today use it as an asset and not for any other thing. They just don't know the features of bitcoin which has revolutionized the economy of the whole world. It could be once again used for payments and transactions worldwide when everyone starts using Segwit address and when lightning network gets activated, users ratio would go even more.

Bitcoin can be used as a normal currency, provided that you live in a place that actually has enough services or goods places accepting Bitcoin as a payment system. Which significantly limits the number of places you'd be able to live off of Bitcoin alone, basically to Switzerland (if they're still as dedicated as they were about a year ago to Bitcoin) and a few other cities within the United States which would require a lot of looking even then. A lot of people are going to talk about and use Bitcoin like an investment even if you try to convince them otherwise, there's no point trying too hard to switch their views.
