To be honest, I did not see someone using bitcoin in the real world, because bitcoin is still banned in my country and there is no channel to support the use of bitcoin in reality.
Just like you, in my country is also very difficult to make direct transactions using bitcoin because it is prohibited but if used for investment and buying sales on the internet we are allowed to do it. I hope in the future, bitcoin will begin to be legalized in countries that currently still prohibit it.

Indeed, i my self accept that it is the way o think about bitcoin. At first i thought bitcoin is just for investment purposes but when i got into it i then realize that it is not just investment but also a currency which can buy things online and used as the main currency in trading.

Well, I personally believe people got into Bitcoin just because of the revenue potential it has, myself, I am one of those people. But in the future, after the value of the coins increases dramatically, I wish I could actually use the coins directly to buy stuffs instead of converting the coins into fiat.

I myself use bitcoin as an investment. When BTC was at 200-300$ I invested some money and cashed out what I had invested when it hit the 20k mark

A lot of people. If you researched a little you will notice how people use bitcoin more as an asset instead of a currency. Since its value doubles or triples, and it gets rarer as time goes by. People treat it now as a digital gold. If you are planning to invest in bitcoin you will need a huge capital and I suggest you should start now because a t the moment bitcoin is still at the dip of the market but it will increase in the next few months
The real thing is that Bitcoin isn't an investment naturally. It was made truly to make the transactions easier although that isn't fulfilled yet. I am investing in Bitcoin but it is not one of my priority on its uses. It is in the advantage of the price that makes it a great long-term investment. Bitcoin is still gaining lots of investors and it could be the required contribution to its growth. Here in my country, I don't think that there are a lot of investors yet but I'm looking forward that many will contribute to the development of Bitcoin to become a currency in the future. I see few posters in my country saying that encourages investment in Bitcoin, however I don't think that would be enough. Bitcoin hasn't reached that much of mainstream in my country, therefore it still lacks the needed trusts from the people in my country. It needs more attention and awareness.

We can't tell the exact number of people who uses bitcoin around the world. Bitcoin itself has a lot of uses that's why we can't really tell if someone uses bitcoin as a form of asset or an investment. There are those who directly invest in bitcoin, there are also other who mine to sell it. There are also people who consider bitcoin as an digital currency with a fluctuating value that is used as a medium of exchange for transactions from the different parts of the world. We can't see yet the real purpose of bitcoin because still, only few people use it and know about it.
I invested some of my money in bitcoins and I know most of the people here in this forum invested in bitcoin as well. The friends around me and people in my country already have idea what bitcoin is but not a total understanding of it. There's already more and more people everyday noticing bitcoin and that will eventually lead to investing. While the main purpose of bitcoin is to be like a payment instrument, most people do not use bitcoin to purchase goods anymore because of its value, they would rather keep the bitcoin thats why its a very popular investment now.

I think now in 2018 number of people who are investing in bitcoin are more. Because in 2017 we have already seen or hear that few celebrities has earned huge profit. In facebook , twitter or other social media also involved in the advertisement of bitcoin. So indirectly people are getting the information about cryptocurrencies. By looking towards those adds people search it on internet and trying to get more information.
So I think today normal people are also investing in bitcoin. Still most of the people dont even know what is bitcoin. I would say 60% people in my country know about bitcoin and only 50% are trying to invest in it.
