In fact, when your gambling addict friend asks for a loan, there are no good solutions. In 99.9% of cases, you will either lose a friend, or money, or both. I do not think that the advice can change anything in his situation, since at this stage of addiction, only more radical methods of treatment will be effective. And as you rightly noted, a friend's interest in treatment is also necessary.

As much as we want to deny it, this is the reality. If ever you have someone that is close to you who has gambling problems, you shouldn't let them borrow money from you or to your other friends just to sustain his gambling habits. Even if they beg you, do not falter because giving in to such request could only just ruin his life even more. Because as we all know, gambling addiction is one of the major problems player fight with. If he already have an issue to begin with, then you shouldn't fuel his thirst to it.

Lending money is risky as well. As a lender, you don't have the assurance of when will the money you lent be paid back to you. Unless of course, you will make legal documents. But some of those who have contracts pay past due too and some even break their contracts, getting away with their debt. So yes, if you let your friend borrow you money, you can either lose money or lose both friend and money. In this part, you have to be firm. You have to stand your ground if money is important to you as well as your friend's well-being.

No matter how you look at it, it turns out that in any situation, lending money to a friend who will spend it on gambling is an erroneous and harmful decision. In general, there are different views on such things - some believe that a friend should be helped in any case, and some cynics believe that a friend should be left in trouble, because if this is not done, he will drag you there too ) There is sense in both points of view, but in those cases when help is needed even with the patient's resistance, only relatives have any real opportunities. From the point of view of the law, friends are just strangers.

Even if that friend means a lot to you, I don't agree with your suggestion to better give him money if that money will only go to gambling. Of course it is better to give money to someone who is in need rather than lend him. Lending means you will have him pay you back. That would be difficult. In the first place, the reason why he is borrowing is that he doesn't have money. But this is not going to apply if it's gambling that is the reason for borrowing. I will not support any friend or family member if he is only borrowing money for the sake of gambling.
That's true because if a friend borrows money from us, we can find it difficult to ask him to pay the money, especially if that friend is someone closest to us.
We will instead give up what he has borrowed and have no intention of asking for it back.
It is more like a social feeling that we are helping him by lending money.
But if he is honest that the money is for gambling, then our answer should be no because it does not provide a solution to our friend.
It is better to give the money to people who really need it, such as to buy food for their family, than to lend it to friends who will use the money to play gambling.

If your friend has debts due to gambling problems, then lending him money or giving them is not support, but only indulgence of his desires. If you really want to help a friend, then take the time to explain to him why he was in such a situation and offer help in eliminating the causes of these troubles. Think for yourself, you can give money to a friend all your life, and he will lose it. This is not the way out of the situation.

That's right. Lending money to a friend who will just spend it on gambling is not helping your friend. You are actually pushing him toward a cliff. You are reinforcing his bad habit of borrowing money just for gambling. Instead of helping him address that risky vice, helping him stop that behavior that will probably grow much worse over time, you are actually backing him up.

You don't even owe him an explanation. Just say no and you are already helping him a bit.
Not only that, While you are being nice to him when you lend him money, it is temporary. When that friend loses in gambling, when he is unable to repay you, he scolds you. He will develop a bitter relationship with you which you will not be able to accept easily. As a result you will lose from two sides. One friendship will be lost and another you will lose money. So never lend money to a friend if that money is used for gambling.

Agree with you because it will still become a habit later.
By being in debt due to gambling problems, he will come back to us and say the same thing over and over again.
Fortunately, I have never loaned money to friends because of gambling problems, but I often experience lending the money to buy daily necessities.
Maybe we can give him a solution so he can stop gambling and thus, he can leave gambling forever.

Lending money to a friend who is addicted to gambling could only make him fall into gambling addiction more. That will not help him but rather make his situation worse despite your good intention to help him. It will be better to help him rise and recover from his gambling addiction. Let him realize that what he's been doing is wrong. Giving him money is temporary but the life advice would be permanent especially if he will listen.

When someone is already get addicted then you would really be expecting that your advises and suggestions would be mostly ignored most of the time.Whether he would be solving addiction by himself or would really be

needing some professional help and speaking about professionalism then it would really be just applicable on things which does really need some strategy and knowledge towards things and not applicable into luck based
ones.
Building  yourself to be better in gambling is something not that ideal because it would really be creating that kind of motive which might ending up on being addicted due to too much engagement.

It always comes down to one simple rule:

Never bet more than you could afford to lose.

That is subjective. There are no exact figures that we can consider as an amount we afford to lose.

For example, we put a threshold of $500 as an amount we afford to lose. Let's say unfortunate things happened and we lose that amount, surely we will not stop as we think we can still put up another bucks at risk as we know we afford to lose that amount. And the rest is history.

It doesn't matter if a gambler bets more than they afford to lose. Their money is their rule.

However, while they are crossing their limits, make sure that they are still responsible enough for their financial status outside gambling. In that way, everything is balanced and life outside gambling is not truly affected even how hard the gambler is. Professional and experienced gamblers are like that.

A person needs to think deeply about a few things before starting gambling in online. Adherence to these principles a gambler have more chances of getting success in gambling platform which can make a gambler responsible from the start.
Things to obey:

1. A gambler should gambling as an entertainment, not as a way to make money or the earning source of money.
2. Don't try to bet with your everyday life leading money which is very much needed or can't afford to lose  like billing, rent, food or something like that.
3. You should Understand the potential of the game, embrace it wisely and predict your chances of winning at that particular game.
4. It is more important to read the terms and conditions carefully other wise everything will be invalid.
5. No betting on YouTube reviews or anyone's advice. Prepare yourself to understand the advantage or disadvantage.
6. If you lose your assets then don’t pursue the losses.
I think your success in gambling will definitely visible if you follow the these instructions. Here  you can add your knowledge and experience for the flourishing to this concern.

It always comes down to one simple rule:

Never bet more than you could afford to lose.

Whether you make one bet or a thousand, it don't make a difference. If you'll be sorry when you lose the bet, then you shouldn't be playing. Avoiding the game is not the end of the world. Sometimes not playing is the smarter thing. When a gambling addict sees the current week's games, he feels like he is missing a big opportunity if he don't bet on every damn game there is that week. Obviously it is the other way around.

Youre right bro, I think there is a better way for us to help a friend than to give him a loan to gamble, if we really care about him of course we will try to help him but not by making him continue to be addicted to gambling, maybe we can help by continuing to give him advice and also invite him to occupy himself with positive things so that slowly his desire to gamble will decrease, I think if we give him a loan of money of course it will only trigger conflict between him and us for fear that he will not be able to repay the loan due to losing gambling and it will only add to the burden of his life as well as stretch the distance between us and him later.

The problem is that a player always thinks that luck will come and this thinking can make the player lose control and use any money as long as he can continue to play and hope that luck can be obtained and the money he has spent before. Never chase luck, let alone the desire to recover from defeat, let go of what has been lost, and play if you already have the money to be able to play.
So far, gambling cannot guarantee that you will get lucky because not everyone can have the same luck, so if you are in a gambling place you have to use money that is not really used because if you lose and lose it will make you feel depressed, so wait until you have the money you need. more to do gambling to be safer when you lose money.

Yes you are right. I am also think with the same way that gamble isn't any bad think. Yes it's convert to bad when one person got addicted on it . I think not just gambling but over-indulgence has a bad effect on everything. So in this way gamble should be in self control and also it's purpose should be only entertainment which already mentioned by op.

I think it doesn't matter whether a person gambles for fun or for profit as long as he gambles responsibly, I believe there will be no issue ahead.  The problem with people who gamble for profit is that they failed to set up a limit on the fund they have to spend resulting in spending money that is allocated to households expenses.  There are lots of cases where a gambling have to sell everything in order to recover what he has lost because of being irresponsible while gambling.

the problem is if there is a severe addiction this is a bad thing from a mental point of view. yes, if you win in betting, you probably won't regret it, this will be a place for that person's money-making field. otherwise if the person loses the game it will be like losing everything in life. selling valuables, debts to many friends will result in friends not wanting to be friends with debt problems

If you lend money to a friend you will probably end up losing both, your money and your friend.

If you decide to give money to a friend, I think it's best to just do that as a gift. At least you have a chance to keep the friend, and if you're giving them money, I guess they mean a lot to you.

I very much agree with this. This is the exact reason why I don't lend people money unless that person is the one whom i trust so much. Which to say is only a few. I can hardly name people who I'm going to be comfortable in lending money to and I'm confident that they'll return the money they have borrowed in the agreed date. Hence, I don't lend money so that I won't have to be stressed to keep on thinking when they would pay back what they owe me.

Letting people borrow money is risky. You and that certain person must have a written agreement in order for you to be assured that your money won't just go to nothing. If ever you decide to lend money, make sure to have a document as a proof. That way, you can have a thing to cling to and to present to the authorities if ever the borrower will not pay on time.

Another thing we can do to avoid lending money is giving what we can as a way of help or gift to someone in need. This should be done wholeheartedly. Meaning to say, you won't expect anything in return and just let that money or thing be a form of help to alleviate their problem.
