Wow, I had read about the new VP but did not know this aspect. It seems then that Trump's pro-Bitcoin turn is in earnest.

Maybe, but one never knows what's what when you're talking about politics with extremely incomplete information, e.g., what's being said and done behind the scenes.  On the other hand, this isn't bad news by any means when it comes to bitcoin and could be much worse.

My question is whether Trump has a chance in November; I expected him to be a two-term president, but got quite a shock when Biden won it.  And if Trump's got a shot at winning, that would depend on who he's running against--I don't follow politics, as it makes my blood boil, but is Biden still insisting on running for a second term?  If so, any sane person would vote against him (as opposed to voting for his opponent).  I've got very mixed feelings about this upcoming election, since I was very much anti-Trump when he ran the first time but came to see that his presidency wasn't nearly as bad as I'd figured it'd be.  My prediction was that there would be a nuclear holocaust, but that didn't come to pass.  Do I like him?  Nope.  But man oh man, I really think we need a Republican in the White House.  It'd be good for bitcoin, but more importantly I think it'd be far better for the economy and our national debt.

As November gets closer I'll likely start paying more attention to what's happening in the race.  Until then, for my own sanity I'm just tuning all of it out.

I have already written many times that it is somehow tragicomic that Bitcoin depends on one man and one country, and it should be decentralized. In the end, if the wishes of many come true, the US will have a monopoly on mining, trading with BTC through ETFs and CEXs, and will probably impose filtering of transactions on the good ones and the bad ones.

Can't wait to see the bitcoiner maga cult's opinion when they see the news that criminal Trump wants one of the biggest public haters of Bitcoin, Jamie Dimon, as his Treasury Secretary lol.
~snip~

Yesterday I actually heard that information on one of the US business TV programs and at first it seemed to me that I had heard wrongly, but then I remembered who was the Treasury Secretary in the last mandate - so I have no doubt that many important people in the Trump administration will be those who don't really like Bitcoin.
Elizabeth Warren is watching this and shaking in her boots.
All these senators who have been having their way in congress will all be nullified once the new administration comes in.
Could be these current "Crypto Donators" to the Trump Campaign are hoping that he will remember who funded him before getting back into office come November so when it comes to appointing a new faction into CFTC/SEC and Treasury Secretary (Jamie Dimon will need to change his tune from Davos quick if he wants to stay in his job there) Chairs, will see bitcoin and all other cryptocurrenies in good light.

We will never no, once the election is over, maybe they will have the majority of the Congress.

But we will see, Trump is now being called the crypto-President, so if ever he will win, we might see Bitcoin goes up, in short to long term.

Another good question though: What will voters value though? their political beliefs or Bitcoin?  Grin

Additionally, at least Trump is showing that he is serious about the crypto industry even if he faces opposition from Congress (if he is elected). That shows us that he wants to promote the development of cryptocurrency instead of suppressing it like the current government is doing. We really won't know what will happen in the future but what we need is a president who likes and supports cryptocurrency rather than a president who seeks to oppose it.

Answering your question: as a crypto investor, there is no reason for me to vote for the current government when they are so much against crypto rather than helping it develop.

Trump is really gunning for the bitcoiner vote. He'll all-but-assuredly be re-elected by this point, and after he is, I predict he'll never say another word about Bitcoin. The Federal Reserve - the true Masters of the Universe - won't let the president say anything that could potentially undermine the dollar; i.e. vouching for any other kind of currency. Instead you'll see more tweets like this from Trump's handlers:

He's just another politician doing politician things.
This man is all about money.
He lives, breathes and "your fired" when it comes to it.
Yes, I agree with your statement above. He is a real estate and oil kind of man.
Made of old money and that is what had made his empire. So why would give up on it for this new way economic freedom from all the old fiat vices that comes along with it?

That what comes when J.D Vance comes into the picture.
A Vice Presidential candidate who is all about technology and has worked for Peter Tiel who gave him his meager beginnings in Silicon Valley.
He holds more than $200,000usd in bitcoin at one time back in 2022. Which he probably has more in all his cryptocurrency holdings when it comes to Ethereum and NFTs.

Trump does want to start up another NFT which he plans to sell to his vast amount of supporters.
This will be his third NFT project.

Let dem dems drown in their hate. Can't wait till November to see them crying like little girlies once again.

lol.

For them people ilke Elon Musk are the main trouble.
Crypto should be adopted and if the current president (& SEC) feel like doing the opposite then let the people vote and kick them out, once and for all.

Free economy is capitalism at its finest.

I'm still concerned though that the pro-crypto policies are going to be limited to exchanges and big business, while we, the plebs, will not get anything out of this except for "number go up".

Sure, everyone likes to be richer, me too in fact, but don't you guys feel concerned that Trump and Vance are going to forget about the ordinary HODLer in the process?

Someone like Elon would be better for crypto, for example, because he's at least willing to open things up for ordinary folks.

Anyone voting for Trump, who has committed numerous treasonous acts against America as well as all sorts of other crimes and corruption, just because he's going after the most gullible people with his "pro-crypto" talk, well if he wins you deserve to get one of the biggest anti-bitcoin people as treasury secretary cuz that's the kind of stupid you get when you support Trump.

You do realize the Vice President becomes the leader of the free world once the current president is deceased?
If you don't look ahead towards your own future then I don't know what to tell you.
This is a pro-BTCitcoin thread and not an all hail trump thread so get your priorities straight before your next response.

JD Vance is a holder of a substantial amount of bitcoin. Will get those numbers the next time I post on this thread.

But here is a post I had done on another thread from one these maga cult forum members you are referring too:
Trump switching things up…

Yeah Vance saw the lite and now could be the president in a year or two as Trump is old and may not finish his term.

We could have a really young president by 2026
Vance is positioned himself quite well being relatively young since he started his political life at an early age.

Great reference from the RNC speech last night by DeSantis:
"America cannot afford four more years of a 'Weekend at Bernie's' presidency."

Trump’s VP pick is the first ever ‘bitcoiner’ on a presidential ticket
"JD Vance owns a substantial amount of bitcoin and has pushed crypto-friendly legislation"
The news is in 2022 but it is not important when it was made publicly. I read some information on Vance yesterday after he was chosen and appointed as a partner of Trump in the President Election campaign. What I really noticed is Vance is a very young man, he was born in 1984.

-snipped-
So this is not better? The longer they have held bitcoin the better!
If they held since 2009 from the very start then that would mean they have the insight to see what the future of wealth was and believed in it longer.
So the news being from 2022 (publically regardless since everything can be seen and backtracked on the bitcoin blockchain) is making him a better choice than somebody who just jumped on the bandwagon to the rest of the holders who saw it's current influence on the masses since reaching it's all time high earlier this year.

Trump would have difficulty passing pro-crypto laws through Congress. I think Democrats have a majority in at least one part of it.

Nothing Trump would say or do that will surprise me, he knows the weakness to tap from, or should I say, what the Biden government is doing that is not acceptable to some sectional people, he is now using it to campaign against them. And surely, the idea is brilliant, but Trump will always be Trump, he is deceptive and self-serving and I only hope he will be able to do anything positive in the crypto world during his tenure as his lousiness may only be noise.

Because from the beginning to the end of his administration (if he wins again), he can't have all his ways even if he wishes to, he is not going to manipulate all the people working with him, including the SEC, many US people have their own beliefs and integrity, otherwise, they resign. Not to mention many other manifestos that must pass Congress. He is not the sole decide in everything.

Alright, while I initially thought that pretending to be pro-Bitcoin was a temporary political stunt by Trump, I now agree that it's a politically motivated shift but one he might actually stick to after getting elected (if he gets elected). If it's both him and VP, the USA might change its policies and become more crypto-friendly. However, I still hope that when people eligible to vote in these elections choose who to vote for, their main priority won't be crypto stance. Presidency comes with a lot more than that, and even if someone is very pro-Bitcoin, it is still important to ensure that one's views generally align with the Republicans and with Trump's vision specifically.

He is also too young and without experience while also being very radical and a warmonger who has no understanding of wars and even though he is not even in office he is doing a lot of chest pounding so to speak, a lot more than the previous warmongers in Trump cabinet like Bolton did.

In any case it is always funny to watch "kids" who think reality is like a Hollywood/Marvel movie be given high roles in a government Cheesy

Wow, I had read about the new VP but did not know this aspect. It seems then that Trump's pro-Bitcoin turn is in earnest. In general I don't trust politicians, and if it's on the campaign trail even less but Trump would be neither the first nor will he be the last to change his stance on Bitcoin (remember Saylor, for example). He also received $2 from the Winklevoss twins. But if the VP has personally Bitcoin it seems clear that if he wins with his policies he is going to be favorable to Bitcoin and all that surrounds it. There are also several big name Republicans involved in Bitcoin and the Mining Industry, like Ted Cruz for example.
Thank you, OP for pointing out this fact about the vice president nominee JD Vance. With this choice, Donald Trump has further shown his seriousness about promoting crypto-friendly policies if elected president. Politicians cannot be trusted but at least this is a candidate who has firmly opposed anti-crypto laws in the Senate and has openly criticized SEC's policy mandating banks to report crypto as liabilities on their financial books. He is young and owns Bitcoin, I am beginning to see Trump's sincerity regarding his pro-crypto stance. It is also possible that this move is to gain financial support and attract young voters, only time will tell.
