I'm gonna jump on the thank train too.  When something is too good to be true, especially in the Internet world, it is.  End of story.

Unfortunately whenever there is money involved there will be people out to get a piece of it unlawfully. There is also many that go about it the right and legal ways. Knowing which is which is not always easy. Sometimes the people you think you can trust turn on you, yet other times the ones that look like they are shady as a hundred year old tree are safe as houses. I spose it comes down to not always judging too quickly or you may miss out on opportunities. Think of it this way, I am sure that when bitcoin came out many people claimed it was just a scam with someone that was going to disappear with their money. Yet here we are and many people have made profits on the way. Still others that had the chance and decided it was too risky missed out.

So everything in moderation, do your due dilligence but do not jump to conclusions, you may miss out on great opportunities.

Great well rounded view of the whole situation.

Great post. What makes Bitcoin great is true ownership of your money - don't give that away!

Ripple seems to alleviate this trust problem -- time will tell.
