I like the idea of a password clue formula. of course, a person would have to be careful not to populate it solely with information someone can find with a combination of google searches and facebook stalking...

Excellent post and comments. It made me think twice about a recent transaction. I've yet to be burned. But that doesn't mean I'm ill prepared.

When I trade on the exchanges, I like to diversify my assets among the multiple exchanges to reduce the risk even if it is slightly more complicated to do so effectively.

I respect the diligence of the OP. However, there is reasonable precaution and then there is paranoia. That said, I tend to do intensive research before I trust and verify those I give my money to. I also take the OP's word of precaution a bit further and only work with exchanges that I can contact personally and keep tabs on indefinitely. At the end of the day though, I can only trust myself and those who put their trust in me.
