After tragic earthquake event happened in Türkiye one Hatayspor player was under rubble. They say he was saved lately but noone knows if he is wounded or not. Today there will be announcement about Leagues. I guess football federation may delay weekly matches once. Türkiye still tries to save as many people as possible. Its so sad for country honestly. So we may not have matches to bet on this weekend. Will be determined in couple of hours.

this is very shocking and sad news, I do not know to what extent what I see on TV and newspapers in Portuguese is true, but I heard that there are many players missing and that the player Ahmet Eyüp Türkaslan died, now the death has risen to 3400

https://edition.cnn.com/2023/02/05/europe/earthquake-hits-turkey-intl-hnk/index.html

and looking at the destruction it caused, then this number could still increase unfortunately, this is a situation that should stop the games for 1 month so that the teams that are directly affected can have time to recover, this is my opinion
This is very sad news, I saw in the newspapers some pictures related to the earthquake there, it was very deadly and very worrying. The confirmed deaths there increased from 1500 to 2400, now it has increased again to 3400. I can only pray that the people at there will be evacuated quickly, I agree if league it should be postponed to one month for the recovery of affected teams.

I have seen some news and videos related to the earthquake on YouTube. It is very poignant and touching. Many people were injured. And last news I saw that 3700 bodies were recovered. I don't know when was the last time the world saw such a huge loss of life. Many buildings collapsed. Immobilized in road conditions. All the major countries of the world should have extended their support to Turkey and Syria. The Turkish government is still continuing rescue operations. And it will take a few more days to complete this rescue operation.

may god make the family he left behind strong and resilient, even though he is only a goalkeeper at a Turkish league 2 club (malatyaspor) but he is one of the backbones of the family, the disaster that happened was completely unexpected and had to be international grief. Meanwhile, it is reported that the former Chelsea and Newcastle goalkeeper (Christian Atsu) is also still out of contact, hopefully he will be found soon.

As a Turkish person who is following the news closely for nearly 24 hours now, I can testify that this is one of the or maybe even the biggest disaster in our history, we had some earthquakes before, but this may end up being the biggest of them all. We had 7.4 earthquake before and similar, but never two back to back with 7.7 or 7.8 or 7.6 whatever it was decided, and nearly 100 4.5+ of them, with 2 of them being 6+ aftershocks. That is basically as bad as dropping a nuclear bomb there, just without the radiation. There won't be any games anytime soon, it will be postponed until further notice, its not going to be just one week, we need to wait until a further notice to first see how things are, because it could be weeks and weeks of this disaster to finally end.

that was insane, 3 consecutive aftershocks, no wonder the damage level there was so high. I want you to continue to report on things that continue to happen there, I hope you and your family will always receive protection from god.

Soccer left aside, at least we can see that the world is able to cooperate during such times no matter what. Solidarity is there even between Turkey and Greece. It is devastating that it happened at all and it is also devastating that it first needs such an event in order for the presidents of two countries to communicate again and leave their military shenanigans aside.

For whatever it's worth, it is once more necessary to show the biggest solidarity possible. The earthquake was insane and now the weather is shit and cold as well. Couldn't get any worse right now. At least it seems that a lot of countries can offer professional help.

Really, this is sad news that is widely discussed in my country, friend. I wish all Turks affected by this disaster to be truly strong and rise for better days from now on. This is a disaster that is difficult to avoid because it happened suddenly, I hope everyone there will be patient with this disaster.

As for postponement the League, it was the right decision after this disaster. I hope people are understanding about this situation until things calm down.

There were 3 matches in the league today, but all sports competitions in the country were postponed because of the earthquake at last night. Today's matches will not be played. I announce to friends abroad who are not aware of the earthquake.
Two of the matches were to be played in İstanbul and one in Giresun. They are not an earthquake zone, but the matches were canceled because there was a huge natural disaster across the country. I hope we get good news from the region. Currently, all aid support is directed to the earthquake zone.

We are living in a very sad day. Experts who made a statement to TV channels say that it is one of the biggest disasters in the history of the republic. The number of people who died in the earthquake has already passed 1000. I'm afraid that number will be a larger number in a few days. I hope no more sad news comes. Meanwhile, all sporting events have been suspended until further notice. According to my guess, league matches will not be played next week.
it socks to see that, a lot of people were hit by that, it was a really big earthquake, it's a big tragedy and more people are being announced dead, I wonder if they keep playing the league after that, but the souls of those people and their families is what matters now, may they rest in peace and God be with their families.

I don't know very well the distribution of teams by zones in Turkey, so I'm asking this question:

Can anyone tell me if there is any team in the affected area and if the players are there?

Former Newcastle United player Christian Atsu is reported to be trapped under rubble following the earthquakes that hit Turkey and Syria on Monday.

A 7.8 magnitude earthquake hit south-eastern Turkey and northern Syria during the early hours, followed by a second of 7.5.

The 31-year-old Ghanian, now playing his football with Turkish Super Lig side Hatayspor, was said to be missing – along with director Taner Suvut – after teammates and members of the club’s technical staff had been rescued.

“Taner Savut and Christian Atsu were left under the rubble,” reported Turkish newspaper Star Gazette. “Search and rescue teams are looking for two names.”

7 days of national mourning was declared in Turkey. All matches will probably be postponed until the Beşiktaş - Antalyaspor match, which will be played on 14.02.2023. Maybe the matches until the 17th of this month can be postponed.

My condolences to the families and friends of Christian Atsu and Ahmet Türkaslan. We are going through days of deep sadness for Turkey and the Turkish Super League. May Allah help us all.

Galatasaray survived this match without loss, and under the management of coach Okan Buruk, they became a team with 15 wins in the last 15 games.  Trabzonspor is far from last year's performance this year.  Although they managed to take the lead in the first minute in the match they played against Galatasaray, they could not maintain this superiority later on and were defeated 2-1 at the end of the match.  Galatasaray draws the image of a team that takes firm steps towards the championship this year.  They will probably go to the champions league next year.
Galatasaray having amazing success run in this season as they perform in last season there were no hopes about their performance will be like this, but things are changing drastically under the management of Okan Buruk amazingly with most chances now they have good grip on this year's title because after 22 rounds they are leading by 9 points from the second spotted team Fenerbahçe which was doing good in early rounds of this season but sadly now struggling but still have good chance to stay at this spot because Besiktas and Basaksehir both had good decline in performance lately which is surely going to hurt them with 14 rounds left in this season now we can expect good fight for the remaining spots but for the title most chances we will have no change with the current form of leaders Galatasaray is at their best.

When it comes to two consecutive major earthquakes with 7.5 and 7.8 richter magnitudes, there isn't much you can do. Have you read the news of two consecutive earthquakes with a magnitude of 7.5 or higher before? You cannot escape such a disaster with a warning.

By the way, there is a report in the famous Portuguese newspaper Abola that Atsu was rescued (https://www.abola.pt/nnh/2023-02-06/turquia-informacao-a-bola-atsu-encontrado-com-vida-mas-ferido-o-estado-do-joga/975450), but it is unconfirmed by the official authorities in Turkey. So, unfortunately the news does not reflect the truth for now.
Surely no one can do anything against the nature and things like these are can happen at any place with any time without any prior notice I am also feeling sorry for the victim families and all peoples those are having problems with this all as we are reading the latest updates related to this all now more than 3000 peoples are killed and many more are missing or disabled which is surely the biggest disastrous for the country and region.

There was no warning or anything related to this all which is also double lost as peoples were having one earthquake which have the biggest impact, but suddenly things happen again on same level which create more problems, and now they are doing, but it's going to take time because this all is not easy while buildings are down badly.

On such a sad day, it was right to stop sports competitions. Right now, everyone is trying to raise aid in a way that is focused on the earthquake-affected provinces. They are collecting supplies in other provinces, the only focus should be on rescuing people affected by the earthquake. The aftershocks of the earthquake continue, I hope there will not be a big aftershock inşallah, the working personnel and civilians can quickly help those who need help.

I agree that all sport competitions should stop.It was a disastrous day with consecutive really high scale earthquakes with 7.5 and 7.8 and the victims unfortunately are well over 1000 right now and may even be more,as rescue teams are on the scene helping to rescue as many people as possible who are stuck in the ruins.

Unfortunately such an earthquake also happened in Instanbul in 17 August 1999 but at that time many people slept outside because it was summer and thus helping a lot of people.I am assuming that even if Turkish Superliga stops in this upcoming weekend all the people would agree that there are things above sport sometimes and that is human life.

My condolences to the families and friends of Christian Atsu and Ahmet Türkaslan. We are going through days of deep sadness for Turkey and the Turkish Super League. May Allah help us all.
Allah will provide the help you all need in this difficult phase.

I sympathize with all those and the families that have lost lives most especially, and then property to the earthquake, and those severely injured and currently receiving treatment. It is very sad to read of these disasters and how people are severely affected by them. I wonder if the warnings could have been better to tell people to expect a double earthquake of great magnitude, so people could have been better prepared and all those persons who are not from countries were they experience earthquakes could have gotten some tips on how to be safe when one happens.

I would like to take the opportunity to say that I wish that everyone affected by this horrible phenomenon can be very strong in this very difficult moment in their lives, do not give up, continue striving to live, and that all people make an effort to find the people who are still missing at this moment , when I saw buildings falling I was very shocked and very sad with that vision I was having, I cannot imagine the pain and despair that the affected people are feeling right now

I extend my deepest sympathies and offer my heartfelt condolences to those who have been affected by the recent disaster. Although my region has faced several earthquake disasters in the past, none have been as catastrophic as this one.  My thoughts and prayers are with the individuals and communities who have been impacted by this tragedy. I hope that they are able to find comfort and support in the days and weeks ahead as they navigate the aftermath of this devastating event. 🙏

I get that this might not be the best topic for this comment, but since I can't speak Turkish and couldn't find a better place to post, I'm hoping the moderators won't mind.

It is estimated that Malatyaspor goalkeeper Ahmet Eyüp Türkaslan may be under the debris of the earthquake. Since the exact whereabouts of Ahmet is not known, search activities continue in a large area. Also, It is estimated that Hatayspor's Ghanaian player, Christian Atsu, may also be under the debris of the earthquake.

We are having a really bad day. You may pray for us.

That is unbelievably saddening. Those players were just playing days before and one of them even scored. Thinking that Christian Atsu just scored and seeing the celebrations just hours before the earthquake is incredibly sad. He was also a Premier League player who played for Newcastle United and Chelsea. When I heard all sporting events are postponed, I thought maybe it was a little bit overreacting but now it seems like a right decision to me also.

This break, although a short one, can change things in the league slightly. This break is good for teams like Fenerbahce and Besiktas. And for Galatasaray, their opponents will be more rested. We might possibly see the points gap decreasing. But also, I don't know how the transfer period is going to continue.
