Anyone know why Pep took out Haaland? The man scored 5 goals, he would break the record if he played a little more. From the 60th minute, Pep took him out of the game. Okay, you might be thinking about the Premier League, but let the guy play a little longer and break the record. I couldn't understand this at all.
It's an evening that Leipzig will want to forget as soon as possible. They probably didn't expect such a match after the advantageous result they got in the first leg.
Pep needs to pull Haaland out after making sure their position is secure. This also protects from possible injuries that will occur. But Haaland is also one of the best players this season, 5 goals in one match making Haaland the third player to score 5 goals in one match, the other order is Messi and Luiz Adriano.

so does Haaland score?  Roll Eyes

WTF,  what is the record for a player who scored in a single game in the Champions League?

Should be 5 right?

Luis Adriano and Messi scored 5 goals in one game. Guardiola has no heart - why change Haaland so early when he could set an absolute record in the remaining 30 minutes?
Now it is clear why City were absolutely inert in the first game - they were sure that in the home game they would solve all issues even if the result of the first one was unsuccessful. And this calculation was fully justified.

what I can say with Manchester City's performance this time is Amazing. now the score has changed to 4-0 after İ. Gündoğan added another advantage for Manchester city with an additional 1 goal in the 49th minute. And with a score like this, of course RB Leipzig will fall even more mentally in the game. so the goals by Manchester City can increase again. I doubt RB Leipzig will even score 1 goal in this second half to reduce the score at this time.

edit: score has changed 6-0 Haaland scores again
I must commend Manchester City's great performance tonight, they've been totally unplayable in all ramifications and that's a bold statement and best way to send a clear message to other teams in the competition that Manchester City are in for serious a business. I was thinking Leipzig was gonna be a hard nut to crack tonight but no City had a better and different plan for the game.

At the end of this match tonight, bookmakers might be going to make the favourites to win the champions league this season...

Manchester City can already be declared that they will qualify for the next round because they are already leading 6-0 and it is difficult for Leipzig to equalize at the Etihad Stadium. Erling haaland scored another Quintrick and it was very special for him because he did it for a team from the bundesliga.  manchester city played quite well in this match and they did quite well because the ball game is like half the field. leipzig really have to give up and this is not an easy team for them to face.
Leipzig had to completely surrender in this match because Haaland, who had scored five goals in the match, actually made him a goal-scoring machine for Manchester City. This is also a very extraordinary effort for Manchester City to ensure that they qualify for the next round and this can also be a sign that Manchester City is still very strong this season in the Champions League competition.

on the other hand porto vs inter. these two teams have the same strength but porto will have to try hard to be able to score goals in this match because in the first leg they trailed 1-0 to inter. from the statistics porto was able to put pressure on inter but they weren't able to score until the game entered 54 minutes. I hope inter can take advantage of counter attacks if they can do this because from the opponent's point of view they keep attacking to score goals.
FC Porto and Inter Milan, who are also competing at the moment, are still unable to score a goal, even though the match has almost entered the 80th minute. And if their match ends in a draw, then Inter Milan will qualify for the next round. I think this match will be a little painful for FC Porto at home if it ends in a draw or ends without scoring a goal.

yeah, I still want to see Haaland score more goals and make new history in the Champions League. but Pep Guardiola certainly has other plans and he surely knows what is best for everyone at Manchester City. and he is now giving the opportunity to play to other players. because with the current score, of course Manchester City can be calm. so that some of the core players may be withdrawn and replaced with players who have been sitting on the bench for a long time.

Imagine Haaland being injured, Guardiola will be the only one to blame and every one in this planet will criticise him for what will be called a huge and unforgiven mistake.
Every coach will take out his stars from the game once he feels it is safe to do it. It doesn't make sense to let him score more goals in a game where the only objective is to win to pass to the next stage.
BTW Haaland deserves a lot of respect, scoring 5 goals in less than 1 hour and in a Champions League game is something very special in his career.

Leipzig are completely destabilised right now, and they'll watch their chances of qualifying dwindle this evening. They've lost all hope in this match, and I don't see any more magic happening here. Let them try their luck in the Champions League next season. They've been playing well in the Bundesliga, but this is proof that the Champions League is different and requires a completely different level of energy and play.

We are in 60th minute with result is already 6 - 0 and Haaland is having five of this night mean he is going to rewrite history in Champions League history with his talent what a guy.

That guy is just too good; he's a goal machine to be reckoned with at all times. This night in the Champions League, he made history by scoring a hat-trick in the first half and scoring 5 goals in a single match for Manchester City. We still have a lot of time before the second half ends, so I wouldn't be surprised if there are more goals tonight. What a fantastic player!

Manchester City really came out to play this evening and the mean business, I don't think they will be leaving this competition early this time around as they have the high scoring Erling Haaland on their side to help them try to get this trophy for the first time but it's going to be a mountain to climb with experienced teams  like Real Madrid and Bayern Munich still in the competition .

The man just stole the headlines and am expecting tomorrow all sports news tabloids will be talking about him and his goal forecast topic will be on again ... And I see him getting 60 goals this season should he keep playing 60+ minute per game.

Anyone know why Pep took out Haaland? The man scored 5 goals, he would break the record if he played a little more.
I thought so too but maybe being at the Etihad he want the fans to give him a standing ovation to make him feel appreciated...

Its quite impressive seeing Erling Haaland scoring 3 goals in the first half of tonight's game against RB Leipzig, of which the first goal was a penalty score at 22minute, while second goal scored 2minutes later "24minutes" and last 2minutes into the extra time of the first half, which is quite a good play as Man city happens to be in control of the ball tonight, and I'm really enjoying this game, as with the look of things, I see Haaland scoring more goals before the end of the second half, with the game likely to end with (Man city 4 - 1 RB Leipzig).

And Manchester City has  doubled the scoreline to 6:0 with Erling Haaland scoring another two goals in the second half to make his total goals 5 goals so far in this match. So far the game is no longer interesting because Manchester City is all over the field with a 90% dominance over RB Leipzig making them not to have control of the game in this second half. With the way Manchester City is going, the goals may amount to 8:0 and Erling Haaland may complete his goals to 6 goals in this game. Good game for the English side as they have enjoyed a comfortable home win tonight.

Yeah it was 5 goals scored by Messi in 2012 against Bayern Leverkusen. Im not sure whats up with pep taking him out this early when he still have chance to break that record because City's next fixture is against Burnley on 18th so Haaland still has plenty of time to rest even if he play for full 90 minutes. I guess the record will stay at 5 goals for now

with the acquisition of a score of 3-0 in the first half will certainly make Manchester City more confident in the second half. so more goals could possibly occur in the second half. It's great to see the game this time. But for the second leg match between Porto vs Inter Milan the score is still 0-0 and of course Inter Milan must try to hold Porto to a draw. But Porto continued to dominate the game so it could be that in the second half Porto would score.

I hope inter can take advantage of counter attacks if they can do this because from the opponent's point of view they keep attacking to score goals.
The match has been running for 68 minutes and the score of Porto vs Inter Milan still stands at 0-0. I think that what Inter Milan can do in this match must be able to take advantage of counter-attack moments quickly. but Porto also defended the back line quite well.

and for the Man City vs RB Leipzig match it looks like the goals can add up again. and yeah Man City has certainly qualified with the current score.

It’s all cheers and applause from the crowd as Haaland is being substituted. He has been really impressive in this game. Having scored 5 goals in this game, who wouldn’t cheer and applaud him? He’s a great player who is always hungry for goals till the final whistle.
Manchester City have dominated this game from the very start and has put their full might on display as they’ve gone ahead and scored 6 goals. And with the way they’re playing, they don’t look satisfied with the 6 goals they’ve scored as they’re pushing for more goals.

What a guy this Haaland is, making an hat-trick effortlessly in one half in a CL R16 game. He has more than 1 goal ratio now in all competitions this season.
Unluckily we have Porto game in national TV coverage. I had to watch City game online. The game is going to 7+, it's already 5-0 now.
Erling Haaland finally got tired of scoring goals after completing his 5th goal and looks like he went and asked the coach to sub him, if not he would have scored another couple of goals and broke another record . Before the match started i was expecting to see 3.5 goals and both teams to score but Erling Haaland sealed the day and lets see whether Leipzig can score a consolation goal  Grin.

With this initial performance, I think Manchester City has completed its task and is likely to advance to the next round. In this second half, Leipzig has no chance to make a comeback, in my opinion. Leipzig is not performing as I had anticipated, but I see that Manchester City had an easy time winning the game. I had assumed that Leipzig would be motivated by the first-leg draw and perform above and beyond all expectations. Manchester city is always made people feel their the best team and they truly deserve it.

5-0 for Manchester City now at home and Haaland has already scored 4 goals, this could really be a very big result, with little prospects for RB Leipzig. They might have thought they had a small chance because the game in Leipzig was still quite nice and they could have won there. I think City are again top favorites with the bookies to become champions with this huge win. Porto - Inter scored one more goal, but in principle IInter has enough of a draw and Porto will perhaps wait for the 1-0 and then finish the game through extra time. But it could also just end in 0-0, that wouldn't surprise me either.
