Inter were worse than I expected against Porto. The main problem was related to finding the target for them. They had so many goal attempts during the match but only 4 of them were on target. While Inter have very capable attackers in their squad this shouldn't be a problem for them normally. The player to save the team was even Lukaku who was out-of-form actually. This was an opportunity for him to prove himself again to the team of course and this would be an extra credit for his profile.

But Inter will need to do better than this in the rematch. Porto are a quite durable team right now. If they got ahead first in the second leg then I don't think this match would end in 90 minutes.

I really appreciate Leipzig's high effort in the second half of this match. Having this many opportunities against literally the biggest favourite of the title isn't easy for Leipzig actually. But in the second half there was a big opportunity ahead for Leipzig. Because interestingly Manchester City started to show some weaknesses in defense. They gave many more chances to their opponent that it should have been.

This resulted in an unwanted result for Manchester City side maybe. But I think they aren't very unhappy with this result anyway. Because they must be confident about themselves to beat them in the second leg much easier. I don't expect surprises in Etihad.
Leipzig is quite smart. They realized in the second half Manchester City weren't doing well and they immediately changed a few players to make them even hotter and with new energy. The result is obviously very good for them even though it's only a draw, but this can be a good capital it's just that in the second half Manchester City really didn't seem serious especially not to change players for 90 minutes this match was really funny. This may not even be seen from other teams.

If it is Manchester City about England I have no doubts. It is other clubs in England that are in danger such as Chelsea who will find it difficult to defeat Dortmund in the second half. Another problem is Tottenham which is not doing well currently and then Liverpool who I consider already out of the tournament.
Even though wild possibilities can still occur, with the condition Liverpool are currently playing at Barnebeu and having to chase an aggregate of 3 goals this will obviously be very difficult to do.
They are like dead now because regardless of their condition it is really very difficult to get up even if you see their performance in the first leg in the first round was very good in the early minutes but that is not a guarantee because Madrid is still Madrid.

That was really enjoying the game Liverpool - Real Madrid 2 days ago. Didn't have the opportunity to comment on it earlier. But who would have thought when Liverpool quickly took a 2-0 lead? You have to come from a really high level to score 5 goals in a row at Anfield Road. This Real Madrid is a team that could just win the CL again. They have shown how good they are in important games at crucial moments, often last season with Benzema out of hopeless positions. City was very very disappointing. And no substitutes  Grin

The game is still open even though Manchester City are the favorites to go through but Leipzig could pull off surprises. Luckily for them the away goal advantage in longer used. They could just sit comfortably and maybe have to counter Manchester city when the opportunities arrived. City look shaky on counter yesterday which clearly shows that without Debruyne they suffer to create clear cut chances. How city will perform in the second leg will greatly be influenced by Debruyne. I expect a Leipzig passage to the last eights should he not be available
Many people have no doubts about Manchester City's chances in the second leg, myself included.
I think that's normal because the quality of Manchester City is much better and also they will be playing at home. Manchester City's good chance will not be wasted and Leipzig may have to face the fact that they will fall short. Even so, Leipzig also have the same chance because previously it was a draw, and it will definitely be interesting to see who will qualify.

Manchester City couldn't stick to the plan very well last night honestly. They should have done much better than this.Especially the second half was very bad for Manchester City.
This was not the first time Manchester city has buried their heads in the sand and gone to sleep... If you watched the Nottingham game in the EPL the did the very same thing switching off in the second half allowing their opponents to comeback for an equalizer, with such inconsistencies in performance this could be a sign something is wrong or they got the news of what's to happen with their cases in England which has negatively affected them.

I still think Manchester City will win comfortably in Etihad and finish the job though.
If they come focused on the, City should carry the day easily!

Talking of Manchester, we are a few minutes of a return leg for the Red devils as they seek to finish what the started against Barca and this wont be an easy one but I fancy them winning tonight...maybe with a 2-1 scoreline.

This 1-1 draw made the game in the second leg even more exciting, Leipzig will play more enthusiastically to get a place in the quarterfinals. On paper, Manchester City has everything superior to Leipzig, but who can guess the results of the match correctly.
Nobody can can guess the result of the coming match correctly , only with luck.
And yes i guess we will see in the next game between Manchester City and Leipzig other teams as we have seen days ago.
I think that Leipzig will be try to play straight forward in City and that they will play very agressiv , its also possible that we maybe we will see a penaltie shoot.
I don't think Leipzig stand any chance of playing a draw in Etihad such that the outcome will  lead to penalty shoot out, Guordiola will do everything possible to win the second leg, had Leipzig won yesterday's match with a goal or two goals margin it would have been a difficult for Man City to overturn the goals deficit, however as stand now Man City chances to qualify for the quarterfinals is more brighter than Leipzig, infact Man City won't give any room for complacency in the second leg because UCL trophy had been elusive to club for a long time, it's trophy that Guordiola had put in every effort to win it for the club but unsuccessful.

The problem with Manchester City is the midfield, there is no perfect replacement for Kevin de bruyne and this is always a problem whenever he does not feature for Manchester City because it is only Kevin that connects Haaland effectively. So if Kevin is not in the pitch there will not be correct linkage between the midfield and attack, that is the only problem of Manchester City. So I was not surprised to see them draw with Leipzig. I believe effectively that in the returning match Manchester City will come back very well and qualify for the next round

This simply calls for the signature of James Madison from Leicester City, I'm nkt about to say that Kelvin has been bad but the game before World Cup against Brentford, did he put up a good show ? No, did he during the world cup no too, he had his decision makings wrong during the world cup. He was not even injured but I'll, so what happens if he is Injured for six weeks ? Manchester City would crumble ? I wonder why sign Jack Grealish for so much.

I'm pleased with Leicester City because that was my prediction secretly. They have done well regardless, they remain the only Premier League side not to have lost in this round.

Manchester City did not play badly in the first half, but they conceded in the second half. Leipzig defended well and did not concede many goals, which is a success for them. I won't be surprised if we see a surprise result in the second match. Everyone thinks that Manchester City will easily win their home game, but if Leipzig has a good strategy, they can win the game
Manchester City are just being unlucky this season, because they have not been playing badly, they hardly score goals this period, having a goal scoring machine like Halland, but don't really know what the problem is with this Manchester City side at the moment. But Manchester City will definitely win the second leg, I don't think Leipzig will give Manchester City tough time, because Manchester City will be playing at home and that will be a big Advantage to the City side.

Leipzig success in holding Manchester City to a draw is proof that their club really has the motivation not to be daunted by Manchester City's achievements. From these results, it is certain that leg 2 will be a mature consideration for Leipzig. At least they are very careful even though it is difficult to beat Manchester City at home later. Pep Guardiola said they were disappointed with this result because they saw that their players were not very effective in attack. Haaland also did not perform optimally in that match. The absence of Kevin De Bruyne has had a major impact on Manchester City's attack sector. Mahrez needs the right ball supply and that has to be Kevin De Bruyne.
I think we just think Leipzig is too strong for Manchester City, but Manchester City's dominance in the match seems to be forgotten. Manchester City were just very unlucky at Leipzig home yesterday, and actually they deserved more to win the match than draw. Leipzig relied solely on defending, counter-attacking and set pieces to create goal opportunities, while they rarely seem to build good attack because Manchester City have been so good.

But there is one thing that is not interesting is, Haaland runs too much without the ball and he just runs waiting for the pass and get into good positions. This strategy may not always work in Haaland's favour, but he is a really good centre-forward at Manchester City.

I don't know what Pep Guardiola really had in mind in this match, because he didn't make a single substitution to refresh strategy or anything. I understand maybe this is a form of his trust in the players who are on the field. But if that doesn't make any difference and they are stuck I think here Pep has to make substitutions to give them refreshments and hope that the players who come in will be able to be a solution when Manchester City are struggling.
You will make substitutions when you have high hopes in the bench but when you come in with your available best there will not be need for substitution because substitution is to make better changes and impact in the game and not to perform worse. The problem of Manchester City in that match was the midfield. Since Kevin de bruyne was not in the midfield everything was not connecting.

The coach of Manchester City should find a way to get another plan to play Manchester City without KDB in the midfield, that is the only way the club can succeed in hard times like yesterday

Maybe because Manchester City have led with a score of 0-1 at half time, that can make Manchester City add goals or maybe defend it. But if I consider Pep who didn't make any substitutions, then it seems Pep has put more faith in his main squad to be able to score another goal.

But unfortunately, it's clear that this method is not appropriate for a big event like this, so substitutions really need to be done to make a slight overhaul of strategy. It's a shame that Manchester City only got a draw but yes, because in the second leg later Manchester City will play at home so maybe it will be a definite win for Manchester City.

Leipzig are not a bad club, but like everyone else I think they will be unlucky in the return game. Manchester City have played poor away games recently, but they play much better at home. Although even in the last match their stats were better than Leipzig's. I think they can win the next game, although I agree that the unexpected outcome of the match cannot be ruled out.

The pressure and expectations are now all on Manchester City. They want and must win the Champions League finally. Leipzig would have hoped for a win, but that would have been too much I think considering how the game went. But now they can play a game almost free of pressure. Nobody "expects" Leipzig to beat Manchester City, but at the same time they know that if they also have some luck along with a strong performance, it is not impossible for them to win that game. Or to make it into a penalty shootout.

Smart is not enough, there must be skills
February 23, 2023, 01:48:18 PM
English teams are struggling this season in the Champions League. Liverpool, Manchester City and tottenham have all struggled even in the Europa league Manchester United has struggled. I think it might be because they play a lot more games in a short time compared to other major leagues and they have a lot of cup matches.
At first I predicted that Manchester City would be England's mainstay representative in the Champions League this season, but it turned out that my prediction was wrong and RB Leipzig's defense which was quite good in that match made it difficult for Pep Guardiola's team. Erling Haaland's movements were guarded quite tightly by RB Leipzig players, making it difficult for Erling Haaland to find space to score goals and without Bruyne's presence, Manchester City's midfield also did not develop much.
This is only in the first leg, we don't know later in the second leg at home to Manchester City, maybe the game will be even more impressive and they will perform even better there are players not who are replaced whether Pep Guardiola prepares him for the second leg?

Erling Haaland was indeed closely guarded so that the Leipzig defense was not given space in the absence of Bruyne as the organizer of the attack going forward. Manchester City's game was a little less dominant, but we have to see for the second leg.

Liverpool are already out but I think Manchester City should have enough quality to beat RB and they should have scored more yesterday. Haaland performed badly and should have had a couple of goals but he does not seem the same player when he does not have the delivery from Kevin De Brunye.

As far as i watch football, the topic that, in contrast to all the other big european leagues, there is no winter break in the english premier league was always been discussed. I mean there are several arguments for and against the current model in the premier league. A point that definitely supports the current way of the premier league is the fact that the boxing day and all the other matchdays during the christmas holidays have definitely played a big role in making the Premier League the most watched league in the world of football.
On the other hand, it is definitely a disadvantage for the clubs and the players because they just have not so much time to recover.

Manchester City couldn't stick to the plan very well last night honestly. They should have done much better than this.

Especially the second half was very bad for Manchester City. They let Leipzig players come too many times and finally Leipzig turned one of these goal chances to an equalizer. I think it was a little debatable goal given to them there. Because it seemed like there was a foul situation while Gvardiol was going for a header. Anyway Manchester City still should have scored more goals than this. Haaland couldn't get the passes he would like and he didn't have much goal chance in this. Gundogan was so close to scoring the winning goal but the goalkeeper made a great save.

I still think Manchester City will win comfortably in Etihad and finish the job though.

I'm not sure what happened with Manchester City last night because the mistake they had was to give space to Leipzig's players and they could easily get close to Manchester City even Manchester City's forward Riyad Karim Mahrez could score the first goal but after that, they had no plan Leipzig changed some players and changed the plan while Manchester City literally did nothing like they had nothing do to last night.
