Inter tried their best in the second leg, but that was because Atletico Madrid had extra spirit at home. Antoine Griezmann did give his best for his team, but there were several big chance which in the end were not able to be utilized perfectly before extra time. Rodrigo Riquelme really would have been the hero of the victory if he had scored a goal in the final minutes of the second half, but unfortunately he failed because his shot went over.

But it was a deserved win for Atletico Madrid. This team has proven that they deserve to progress to the quarter-finals because Inter were completely different in the second half. They lost a lot of things when Atletico Madrid appeared with high spirits, so it was natural that Atletico Madrid managed to qualify for the quarter-finals to accompany the other two La Liga teams Real Madrid and Barcelona.

Inter Milan defeat from Atletico was indeed surprising, because statistically Inzaghi squad recorded a better performance, Inter Milan failed to maintain the lead they got in the first leg. It is true that Atletico managed to prove that anything is still possible, they have a strong mentality in turning things around. Even though in La Liga Diego Simeone squad is less stable, in the Champions League they have managed to perform otherwise, their reputation in the Champions League cannot be underestimated. Inzaghi was certainly very disappointed with this defeat, their unbeaten journey in the Champions League this season was stopped in the round of 16 through a penalty shootout.

On the other hand, I see Atletico having greater luck, because they are playing at home. That doesn't mean Inter Milan is completely bad, they have tried their best to progress like last season. The Champions League cannot be predicted, the top team could lose surprisingly. We will see how far Atletico can go this season, if they get tough opponents in the quarter finals like Madrid, Man City or Bayern Munchen, they will most likely be eliminated.

As the teams in the competition have reduced, the competition will now be tougher and by tomorrow being the 15th of March we will see the draws and the next teams to play each other going further into the competition. Atletico Madrid will be hoping to get teams like Dortmund, Arsenal, Barcelona, PSG who they know they can have a good chance against as they are almost on the same level. They would want to avoid Manchester City, Real Madrid that they know are very good and have an excellent record in the champions league.

Congratulations Arsenal you got away with an uphill battle. I think in some league games you are very good and that will continue into the UCL. But I was wrong, Porto is quite strong. Porto made Arsenal difficult. They worked hard and made it to the penalty. In the penalty I was quite amazed by Raya's performance. He managed to thwart 2 penalties. Of course this will be history, because they managed to qualify for the quarter-finals.

Known for all that Porto deserve their respect even though it was remaining small for them to knock out Arsenal in the league, but due to luck, they were not opportune, but to be sincere, Arsenal really played well in the game to the endless effort of theirs, because it will not be encouraging to see them knocked out by Porto that will just bring down their hope not only in the champions league but also in other leagues, so to me, it is better as Arsenal knocked out Porto. As you have already mentioned, that Porto performance was such a brilliant one that everyone will agree, and if they can sustain that performance, they will go a long way next season if they put in more effort. 

Arsenal has actually qualified after beating Porto in a penalty shoot out after a game that got them playing up until extra time where they had to go in to penalty shoot out because by average it was a draw game although by the match score Arsenal was winning by a goal which made it felt like they were going to still get another or possibly Porto would rather get a goal and the game would have ended in their favour.

If Porto were able to get a goal by the end of the actual match time making it a 1-1 game, it would have been that the game would have ended in the favour of Porto by virtue of aggregate score because Porto will be a goal ahead and which would mean automatic qualifications to the next stage of the league but Arsenal would have finally crashed out but then the gunners were too determined to just crash out of the champions league just like that, they aswell did performed brilliantly and their opponent was actually very resistive but they found a way around it.

If only Arsenal had allowed Porto to get a goal making it an equalizer, they would definitely not be in the champions league again, I must commend Porto aswell because they performance was actually a really good one to be reckoned with but it wasn't good enough to give them the kind of results they desired to have gotten from the game so they will probably get to use this for the purpose of experience.

In fact Atletico Madrid's strength this season is still the same as last season, but they are often unable to consistently maintain the team's performance so we often see the Atletico Madrid team playing below standard in the domestic league and Atletico Madrid's victory over Inter Milan was a bit of a surprise because Inter Milan was in conditions are very good this season but this is the Champions League, there are many surprises and a mentality is needed and Atletico Madrid have proven that they have a pretty good mentality on the Champions League stage.

Yesterday's game between Atletico Madrid and Inter Milan left me in utter disbelief as Atletico emerged victorious and secured a spot in the next round. Prior to the match, I had anticipated Inter Milan to dominate, basing my expectations on their superior performance statistics. In comparison, Atletico Madrid's recent form didn't seem promising enough to compete with Inter Milan's prowess. Despite my reservations, I placed my bet on Inter Milan to qualify, hesitant to predict a straight victory due to the possibility of a goalless draw.

Inter Milan's solid defensive strategy in the first leg hinted at a challenging match, further compounded by Atletico Madrid's strong defensive patterns. Little did I expect Atletico Madrid to breach Inter Milan's defense and score not just one, but two goals. This unexpected turn of events defied all logical predictions and left me astonished at Atletico Madrid's remarkable performance on the field.

Sometimes it will be different when playing in LaLiga and UCL they will definitely try their best to win but in that effort Atletico Madrid really managed to eliminate Inter Milan even though it was on penalties.

To be honest, I also believed that Inter Milan would qualify but the prediction was wrong where Inter Milan only played defense and relied on counterattacks, as well as many opportunities at Inter Milan but it did not become a goal very unfortunate.

I was disappointed in the Inter Milan bet but still benefited from Dortmund's victory.

Inter Milan had to end their journey in the Champions League early after they lost to Atletico Madrid on penalties. It was a disappointing result for them, but this result could not be changed at all. In fact, they had the upper hand after they were able to score 1 goal first which made the aggregate 2-0. However, Atletico Madrid did not remain silent, they were able to equalize just 2 minutes later and the score remained level at 1-1 until the end of the first half.

Entering the second half it was very difficult for both clubs to score goals, and it was the last 10 minutes of normal time that they were still playing at a draw. However, in the 87th minute, Atletico Madrid was able to score a goal and that made Inter Milan disappointed because there were only a few minutes left before they had to maintain their lead, but Atletico Madrid was actually able to make the aggregate draw. There were no goals in the extra period and they had to go to a penalty shootout. and in the penalty shootout round Inter Milan had to suffer defeat which made them lift their suitcase from the Champions League this season.

But let first talk about, WHAT a WIN for Atletico MAdrid, they reach the game played like shit in one of his worst levels in years under the Simeone era, but seems like they recover the memory and play like the old and mighty Atletico Madrid from early Simeone years.

Actually the quarter finals qualified teams are pretty good as all of them are not lesser than being between the fourth to first positions in their respective leagues so it's really a wonderful combination of giants from each divisions.

Saying Arsenal could have been replaced by either Chelsea or Liverpool is a kind of belittling Arsenal because if not that Arsenal have been without major trophies for a long time now, you would agree with me that England's big four teams wouldn't be complete without Arsenal and so far this season, we have seen the performance of Arsenal even at a time when they flopped, they bounced back stronger again and has achieved great results so far, so they deserve some accolades.

Indeed Barcelona and Atletico Madrid seems to have dropped form for quite some seasons now but that not withstanding, they're still doing pretty good as they still maintain within the top four positions in the LA Liga.

Each league managed to send two representatives this season to be in the Champions League, La Liga (Madrid and Atletico), Premier League (Manchester and Arsenal), Bundesliga (Munich and Dortmund, it's a pity we didn't see representatives from Serie A this season, btw with two teams from each league is there a possibility if between one team in the same league to kill each other for a place in the quarterfinals later?
Honestly among the 8 teams that exist today it seems that Arsenal is the team that is indeed the most underestimated to be able to advance further in the Champions League, currently Arsenal's chances to face big teams seem to be inevitable and I think Arsenal will need all the luck to get through the quarterfinals later.

The Champions League drawing will take place tomorrow at UEFA Switzerland headquarters and I think all teams at this time must be anxious about the potential opponents they will face later, from some of the teams above it seems that almost all of them have been opponents of Arsenal more than 2 times, but I hope if this season Arsenal can at least face Madrid,  Because as far as I remember after the 2006 Champions League Arsenal and Madrid never met again in official competitions.

this Inter match really surprised me, honestly knowing that Atletico hasn`t played a very good season, I didn`t expect them to win against a much stronger team on paper like Inter

With this, Inter are out of the running, and I am quite disappointed, I must say with sincerity..

Getting to the quarter-finals could happen for Arsenal, but in the Champions League it is sometimes difficult to predict when a team meets the right opponent. So Arsenal still have to improve their abilities for the Champions League and also for the Premier League this season because currently Arsenal is in a pretty good position.

Atletico Madrid is not a team from the Italian Serie A, but it is a team from the Spanish La Liga where yesterday they also beat a quite strong team from the Italian Serie A, namely Inter Milan. However, I'm also not really sure that Atletico Madrid will advance to the Champions League quarter-finals this season because there are many teams that are stronger than them in the last eight.

Even though in the first leg Inter won with a score of 1-0 but in reality, in the second leg, Inter were still able to score first in the 33rd minute and clearly, it was a great effort. But unfortunately, it seemed like a 2-0 lead seemed to make Inter feel safe until finally Atletico managed to score two goals back in thismatch until finally the winner had to be determined via a penalty shootout. Again and again, it seemed like Inter was really unlucky because in the penalty shootout three Inter players also failed to execute the penalty kick and thus, Inter lost and failed to qualify for the quarterfinals. But indeed, basically Inter was in a very goodposition but yes, Inter failed to maintain the advantage it had, and clearly that was a very regrettable result.

Which draw are you expecting after the round of 16? 8 teams has been eliminated from the just concluded stage and the remaining 8 will be going further to the quarter final which means that from the four that meetbin each line, the two left will meet in each place until the final. So in the case of Arsenal, their next match is going to be against PSG, they need to win PSG in other to qualify for the semi final or they will be left behind if PSG beat them in their next ucl match.


I wasn't surprised by the result though, if not that Atletico Madrid are having bad time this season, on no circumstances Inter is going to beat them and it's even obvious that other teams aren't serious in Seria A, like Napoli who were the best are playing rubbish this season and were also eliminated from the Champions League by Barcelona but I'm not sure if they are going to reach semi final in their next match.

It was not a surprise for me the game of Inter,there is the unwritten law of football where if you have loads of opportunities yet you don't manage to score you most likely concede and that happened yesterday night.I think that the only defense worse than that of Atletico Madrid is that of Milan which concede goals like crazy and that is why I don't think it was a surprise result the lost of Inter yesterday night.

Dortmund was the favorite to pass further and the odds of them were inflated by the bookies to keep us away from betting in them as a team from Germany is usually better than a team from Netherlands especially if that team is one of the strong teams of the Bundesliga.

Almost everyone said before the match that Inter Milan would win the match. But in fact, Atletico Madrid managed to create a surprise until the match had to be finished via a penalty shootout and in the end Atletico Madrid progressed to the next round. In fact, Inter Milan had more opportunities to score goals, but they did not succeed in taking advantage of the opportunities that existed and instead Atletico Madrid actually managed to create two opportunities through Griezmann and Depay.

It is very unfortunate that Inter Milan had to stop to qualify for the next round, even though they were runners-up in the previous season. Sanchez, Davy Klaassen and Lautaro Martinez failed to execute penalties so they had to stop progressing to the next round.

Quite a standard set of teams for the quarterfinals, isn't it? 
In Arsenal's place there could be Liverpool or Chelsea (which we won't see in the Champions League for a very long time, it seems).
If it were not for a significant change in the strength of the teams (Barcelona and Atlético are far from what they were before), then one would think that we were back 6-8 years ago.
My main prediction for tomorrow's draw: City will face either Dortmund or Atletico Madrid.
