There are still 10+ days before the 2023/24 UCL Final is held, Dortmund has a longer rest time than Madrid because Bundesliga has finished. Meanwhile, Madrid still has a schedule against Real Betis on May 26. Madrid has a better chance of winning than Dortmund, that is what most people believe. If you look at the probabilities released by Google, Madrid has a 60% chance, not 50% anymore and made them as favorites to win the trophy.
This is makes sense and I agree with this probability, on paper Madrid has superior players. Will there be any surprises from Dortmund? I'm not sure. but nothing is impossible
People don't expect Dortmund to win within 90 minutes and even don't expect Dortmund to have a draw result against Real Madrid within 90 minutes. But if they can do at least a draw within 90 minutes, Real Madrid will be a little bit fearful in next 30 minutes because I am sure Dortmund will train a lot with penalty shots and they are really ready to pull the final match to penalty shootouts.
When the match comes to that spot, being a stronger or weaker team is no longer important. It will be a battle of mentality among players of two teams and usually a stronger team but fail to win within 90 and 120 minutes will feel more pressure.
Over the years, teams that are less competitive are now coming up to beat the already big existing teams to win trophies or eliminate them from competitions. We have seen how Dortmund has performed since the beginning of this competition a the teams they’ve as well eliminated to reach here.
After 20 years, since 2004 when Greece and Porto became champions in Euro 2004 and Champions League 2003 - 2004, we will have another underdog team in Champions League final. Dortmund are actually a bigger name than Porto in 2004 but they are still an underdog in this season and in comparison with Real Madrid, their opponent in the final match.
I really don't expect Dortmund to play beauty and attacking football in the final match, they know they are weaker and know what to do to win this match.
