There is no need looking at the CL table right now, the CL table will start to take shape after 3-4 games in, but one thing i can confirm is that it is going to be tough, particularly to make the top 8. I don't like the new format, yes it makes it more competitive, but is it necessary? In the former format, the CL comes to life in the RO16 phase which is exciting, but right now from the first game, we are getting a repeat of 2 years ago's final: City v Inter.
Agree. The current position on the table will be very temporary only, it is still 1 match only. Some teams faced weak teams, and other have strong teams. It is very normal that some teams could get full points because they played against weak teams. Bayern Munich, Aston Villa, Celtic, Leverkusen, and Dortmund played against weak teams. Meanwhile the teams like AC Milan, Man City, Inter Milan, and Arsenal failed to get full points because they played against strong teams.

Well, the new format seems to be a more difficult for any team. But it is interesting because all the teams must face one another since the early stage. Although, there will be no teams to got UEL, this is a more fair than previous format. If there is an advantage and disadvantage of the new format, I think it is reasonable.

I think due to the competitiveness from the early stages this time around, quite a lot will be taken out of the players before we reach the later stages, and they might not perform at their best at that time.
Any team who don't prepare themselves well since the early of the stage, they will be possible to be eliminated very soon.
In the league phase, only 8 teams which will be qualified automatically. Some teams will be eliminated, other teams will go to play-off round.
Don't you think this will be a more fun, dude?  Undecided

It was expected that Arsenal were going to struggle without Odegaard. Arteta could not find someone to cover the gap or develop a new strategy that can help the team advance through without Odegaard. Arsenal fans should find comfort in the fact that Manchester City also had a draw yesterday. I think Arteta is saving his boys for their fixture against Manchester City this weekend.
I didn't expect that Arsenal will struggle in their match against Atlanta. For the fact that odegaard was not in the midfield does not mean that Arsenal should just struggle. I mean Arsenal is a complete team and not an average team.
In general the matches tonight seems not go as expected, especially Barcelona losing it against Monaco and Arsenal unable to get a goal against Atlanta. I didn't expect it that way.

Meanwhile, there's enough time for everyone to re-adjust their performance and give better in the next round of the competition.

Other than the Leverkusen match I thought today's match was a bit boring because in the end there wasn't anything that could be said to be a tense situation in the 90 minutes of the match and even I regretted watching the Arsenal match today because it made me more sleepy.
The monotonous performance that was shown made me try to find something more interesting than seeing the game run.

For Barcelona, it's a little less fun with this result especially because it happened because of a red card which could have been minimized because the case was not too urgent for a red card but because of the wrong communication and there was a little contact even though it tended to be more diving, Barcelona had to lose points in their first week in the league phase in the Champions League this time.
With the loss of 1 player, Barcelona were tactically inconvenienced to make a breakthrough which ended up they could not confront further into the Monaco defense in today's match.

I will pin Barcelona's loss today on Flick. He got it wrong from the beginning. There was no reason to start Garcia. With Olmo injured, he could have gone with Ferran Torres in the wing and Raphina as the attacking midfielder. I know Ferran is not that good but it's better to have a bad winger than a bad midfielder.
In the second half, he should have started with Raphina on the bench and probably Pablo Torre to assist the midfield so they could get control of the game. Barcelona could have at least gotten a point if they controlled the game.

I don't think I like this especially after the players complained about how stressful it's for them after these fixtures, is disappointing when it seems like we tge fans don't really care about their wellbeing.

I like the new format. For the more games, it's just 2 extra games. I know that it can be more for clubs that will have to play a playoff but the Champions League hasn't changed much in terms of games played. The problem is that teams that should have played on Tuesday or Wednesday will now have to play on Sunday again which means they have lesser time to rest.
The main problem is with the international breaks. The breaks are unnecessarily too much. the Nations League and other friendlies.

Yeah, Arsenal should draw today and I don't think that's bad because there are still some matches left to collect points. I agree with you that maybe Arsenal will save some players for this week's important games so they have to take a safer strategy that's why we see in this match they seem to play more defensively. In the 2nd match Arsenal will play at home against PSG on October 2, well this is another opportunity for them to catch up. we know Arsenal can be relied on because they are playing at home.

By the way in another match Barcelona were defeated, of course this surprised us a little because previously Barcelona was predicted not to lose and the worst thing that could happen was a draw but this is a fact after the red card in the 10th minute Barcelona game got worse and they only have 4 shots, one of them is a goal. I'm sure many gamblers lost their bets because we know Barcelona is on fire so it doesn't make sense if they lose, luckily I didn't watch this match and didn't place a bet.

It's like I am beginning to like this format of the Champions League. It is definitely revealing many things that we haven't known before. Looking at the table now you might predict the country that has the most efficient football clubs. In the top five of this table will are able to see three German Bundesliga clubs, this could mean that those guys have improved very well in that League.

As an English Premier League fan, I have been looking at the Premier League clubs but only Aston Villa is at the top four. Though we have Liverpool who also has gathered to themselves complete three points. Manchester City and Arsenal who are the brightest clubs in the English Premier League now since that they fed to secure 3 points in their first leg. I would like to see how the table will be in the second round or the Champions League.
In the new format of the Champions League this season, each team will try to be in the top 8 of the standings, as a requirement to qualify directly to the round of 16. It has become a tradition, representatives from the top 5 European leagues will always dominate every season, and each team has the potential to talk a lot and create surprises by showing different performances from their domestic competitions.
I agree with you mostly in your post but I would say that it is too early to say because they just started the knockout stage and are yet to play the return legs. Until this stage is over, we cannot get a clear picture of the teams that we expect to near the finals. No doubt, the current standing reveals a lot about the individual leagues and obviously how the German Bundesliga have positioned itself as an improved league following the emergence of Bayern Leverkusen.

Like I said before, when we pass this stage of the competition, then it will become a little obviously that champions league have history and tradition and the teams that have the records and experience will.begin to be separated from the rest.
Of course, there are still 7 more matches ahead that must be faced by each contestant, which can change the shape of the standings. Experience, mentality and squad depth will be needed in the future, because the pressure will increase. Bayern Munich is the team that attracts the most attention from Champions League fans at the moment, Arsenal and Manchester City failed to meet expectations due to drawing, while the most surprising defeat other than that experienced by Dinamo Zagreb was Barcelona defeat.

Looks like that Leverkusen made there homework with there win today against Feyenoord Rotterdam with 4 Goals.
Only Leipzig was not able to make a draw or win there match in Atletico Madrid , as it is always hard to play there.
Over all i guess the german teams was starting very good for there first Champions League games.
The 4 goals scored in the first half looked cool for Leverkusen although the second half there were no additional goals but I think it was enough to make them comfortable and have more confidence level for their first match.

Although in today's match we could see that Feyenoord tried to do a different scheme in the second half but when the first half they were wrong in the action that made Leverkusen take a quick lead in the first 5 minutes made Feyenoord's confidence and mentality a little slack in the first half.
A good end for Leverkusen but not accompanied by another favorite club where in this match Barcelona and Arsenal did not get maximum points even though this first match they were the favorites but Arsenal were only able to draw and Barcelona had to lose with a red card mistake that actually did not need to be done because indeed this red card was purely a player's mistake that should not have happened for a club like Barcelona.

What do you expect? They should go for more goals in the second half. I think that's enough for them to pass this stage. In my opinion, it was a cheap win for them, they were lucky to play Freynoord and they made good use of the opportunity. If they had faced a stronger opponent it would have been a tough one for them.

I am certain that a lot of gambler lost their games in today's game. I am not an exceptional. Barcelona has to be the team that made me loss. I predicted Arsernal to win or draw.

I called it. I knew it won't be an easy game for Arsenal, they were the favourite but should be lucky to earn even that 1 point. The major credit for that goes to Arsenal's goalkeeper, Raya who made a fantastic double save of Retegui's penalty. Retegui should've done better on that rebound, he seemed to have enough time to take a better aim with that header, but it went right in the middle of the goal, making it possible for Raya to save it.
Apparently it was Atalanta's first ever goalless draw in their Champion's League history. What's a bit strange, it's Arsenal's 3rd away Champion's League game in a row, when they failed to score a goal.
I have already to discuss about Arsenal away matches records in Champion league and before this match Arsenal was unable to win 5 times in a row so these records makes me doubt Arsenal will be able to beat Atalanta and besides that lost Martin Ødegaard makes Arsenal strength a bit decreases but i think the hero of this match is David Raya because he was successfully to blocked the penalty from Atalanta even he did it twice so i think Arsenal is lucky having him

On the other hand Barcelona surprisingly lost from Monaco with slim scores and since Dani Olmo got the injury Hansi Flick was decide to playing with some of young players but apparently this strategy didn't run well even Eric García have to gets red card and playing with 10 players is not easy for Barcelona because they were having trouble and during the match they were playing under pressure and this is Barcelona first loses under Hansi Flick

Games like this require players who are really creative like TAA in Liverpool for those long ranged crosses/passes that ignites a counter that catches opponents unaware — in the same way, Odegaard could have provided such creativity but since he wasn't available, Arsenal barely created chance. This Atalanta vs Arsenal game reminds me of the City game yesterday immediately KDB was withdrawn. Aside from those few Gundogan chances here and there, City barely had clear cut chances.

Though in the aspect of three German teams making it to top 5 is no biggie for me since this was their first match and the teams they played against wasn't any kind of team that would be obviously difficult to defeat and so it's expected to win though they won with a remarkable score but I won't rate any league after the first game.

Aston Villa played against young boys and so it is expected with the current strength of Aston Villa team, defeating young boys is pretty easy while the likes of Arsenal and Manchester City meet their match while I think Manchester City should have done better, Arsenal has more reasonable excuses from the fact that some of their key players are out injured or just returning from injury

Arsenal does not play impressive football in UCL and they only have strength when they are playing EPL matches. Arsenal should be gald that they had Rayp who prevented the penalty and made two double safe.

Atalanta tried a lot because i never expected such a good performance from them after having a terrible start of this season.

Atalanta was given a penalty that was caused by Partey and they failed to score. If the penalty was taken by Lookman I am certain that he would have scored. Lucky for Arsenal they have a good goalkeeper like David Raya. He was able to remove the ball from entering the goal twice. I believe he is the best keeper we can find in football these days.
See this result like this was never a surprise to me be the both team are really in their good form, when penalty was awarded to Atalanta I thought it will be a win for them but immediately they lost the chances they had I say maybe this match will ends in draw which as come to reality, the both team deed tried their best but unfortunately luck wasn't at both sides, Atalanta lost their home to Arsenal, can Arsenal win their own home against Atalanta?
Sorry for the disappointment faced from this game and for any loses incurred if you happened to place stakes on Manchester City to win over Inter Milan. I’m pretty sure many other person made similar bets on Manchester City and lost too. Inter Milan defense was impenetrable, City could not crack it in the gam. Even the Man of the Match Award was not won by a Manchester City player but Barella for Inter Milan.
I think the only thing that make everyone support Manchester City was only because they are the host and most  home games they don't joke with it, if not Inter Milan are also very strong to end the match draw against Manchester city, remember that Inter Milan was also a Italian champions unlike Manchester City was English Premier League champion so Inter Milan are also big team that are capable of what they deed.

Benfica won the match 2-1 tonight with two Turkish players scoring goals.
Kerem Aktürkoğlu and Orkun Kökçü are playing well and have adapted very well to the team.

Barcelona lost 2-1 tonight against Monaco. Monaco played well and won.
Barcelona's young star Lamine Yamal made the score 1-1 but it was not enough for them to score a single goal.
Eric Garcia's early red card disrupted the team's plans.

It was a very easy win for B.Leverkusen. They beat Feyenoord 4-0.
I can say that Kerem Aktürkoğlu found himself after leaving Galatasaray. He is going towards being great in Benfica. It was a source of pride for two of our players to score in a high-level tournament, the Champions League. Bayern Leverkusen beat 4-0, yes, German teams literally beat their opponents like distributed, Bayer Munich beat their opponents in a different way. We are in an exciting Champions League season.

Losing many players due to injury certainly makes the situation more complicated for Arsenal so Arteta tries to rack his brains even when looking at Kai's new position which has always been used as a targetman now used as a playmaker it indicates that Arsenal are a little troubled with the current squad.

In the end, one point is still a positive thing even though their chance for 3 points is actually very large but Arsenal must be willing to share points with Atalanta in their first match this time.
I am an Arsenal fan, but I am not impressed it’s our performance in this game; the players couldn’t hold ball in the middle, and Atalanta Midfielders were taking control of the game due to how often Arsenal loses possession easily. The wingers are not active because no enough passes from the midfield, they channel all the work to the defenders and the defenders delivers their hip perfectly.

We really miss Ødegaard, and the Merino we signed need to get back soon to give us more option in the midfield because we can win title with the likes of Jorginho, Partey and Havertz in the midfield; although they tried their best because it wasn’t easy and it is a good sign that we can also depend on them when our key players are out due to injury. In general, squad depth pay.

Atalanta did well; they deserve three points because they played for it, but the penalty they lost was the cause. Kudos to David Raya for the wonderful saves.

Quote
Statistically the actual match in my opinion is a fairly monotonous match even if you see Barcleona and Monaco who play at the same time of course it's better especially seeing Barcleona lose is a separate entertainment in my opinion for this opening match.

Yea, home teams were able to maintain their homes, none of the home teams lost to their opponents in this night fixtures; but in the evening, away teams wins matches.
The new Champions League format has begun, let’s see how it will go as we have seen the first matches. And from all indications, we will have a lot of surprises as big teams might get eliminated early due to points.
