soon the draw for the last 8 of the UEFA Champions League will be held. Hopefully 3 teams from England can face 3 teams from Spain. it would be very interesting if one of the draws brought together Manchester City vs Real Madrid.

We have 3 teams from England & Spain and 1 teams from Portugal & Germany.
I just hope that we won't see any games of teams of the same country (England vs England or Spain vs Spain)

Of the 8 teams that will compete in the last 8 of the Champions League, I see Villarreal and Benfica as the teams that other teams want to face. I don't mean to underestimate these two teams, but they are the weakest compared to the other contestants. And even that is not a guarantee when the other 6 teams meet them, they will win. It could be like what happened to Juventus in the round of 16.
You are right, at least bookmakers also see it like that. The quotes for both teams are by far the highest (Villareal 51, Benfica 67). All the Spanish teams are outisders compared to the English teams and Bayern Munich

I said that Villarreal might surprise too and they really did it!  Grin  I can't say that it was a well-deserved victory for them because they had only 4 shots in the second half of the game. And the ones in the first half were not that good either. Three shots on goal and all of them are ending up with goals.  Cheesy  I assume that this was much more than Villarreal were expecting to have. Because they must have thought that Juventus wouldn't let them get away with a very comfortable score. But somehow they did. Although Juventus performed really well, there was no goal by them. Very interesting game indeed.
What's really happening in the champions league this season is what I really don't understand,I don't see Villareal defeat Juventus on a normal day.It just happened and everyone is surprise, that is why they say in football anything can happen.I'm not trying to say Vilareal is a small club, but they are a small club compared to Juventus.Who ever thought that Real Madrid would eliminate PSG after PSG won them 1-0 in the first leg,the whole thing turned round, and we saw Real Madrid eventually becoming the qualifier.
Unexpected events in the Champions League will always happen, not only in the Champions League but even in the domestic league it always happens. And we will see that again in the Champions League this season. I agree that Villarreal are not better than Juventus, but they did their game well.
If you look at Real Madrid, I'm not too surprised either, they can always turn things around when their team is under pressure.
this is the uniqueness of football and the game. nothing is certain there because surprises always come even when we least expect it.

Who would have thought that Benfica, Villaerreal and Madrid would survive because their opponents could be said to be the previous seed.

this is the power of 90 minutes in a game anything can happen.

Madrid now has potential although there are still strong candidates for City and Liverpool

Benfica and Villarreal's passage to the round of 8 was a surprise, of course this will make the other 6 contestant teams want to face these two teams because their strength is relatively light compared to having to face big teams, about underestimating the two teams maybe Villarreal and Benfica qualify it's just a form of luck that happens in football, but when compared to Atletico Madrid of course Villarreal is superior when they play in European competition.and we will wait a while longer for the draw for the last 8 of the UCL where the 8 teams will tackle each other to get one. tickets to the semifinals

I know that on a normal day, Villarreal is no match for Juventus but this is the elimination round and each team would want to put in their best. Plus Villarreal is quite good in the la Liga and are known to mix defense, counter attack and precise shots. I guess Juventus didn't see this one coming.

It is difficult to predict which team to qualify to the next stage before we know the next match schedule. Let's see first the draw for the next match. We can analyze the possibility for the teams that has a bigger chance to qualify based on the draw of the next match. However, there should be a representative team from England and Spain because they have 3 candidates. And I believe Bayern Munchen also to qualify if they don't face Real Madrid, Man City, or Liverpool.  Grin

It's true that the draw hasn't been done yet so we don't know which team will go up against which team. However, before the draw is made and we know the exact schedule, it is not wrong if we try to predict who will qualify for the next stage of the 8 teams that have now qualified. Who knows our guess is right even though it hasn't been drawn yet.

Not really big surprise with defeated Juventus by Villareal because last season Lyon success made Juventus have forget to quarter final round after on 16 round defeated by Lyon. I see Juventus have less mentality as the best team on champion league and now make them have long time period with Champion League trophy. Almost twenty years maybe still have Alessandro Del Piero as last time Juventus success got champion league trophy and on last 7 years exactly 2015 ever Juventus success trough to champion league final stage but defeated by Barcelona.

This year's Champions League brought quite a few surprises, not only Villarreal and Real Madrid who unexpectedly advanced to the next round.
However, don't forget how Benfica got rid of Ajax, even though in the first leg Ajax managed to draw at Benfica's home. Ajax should have won
at home, but reality says otherwise, Benfica managed to win the match despite not dominating the match. In the next round Villarreal and Benfica
will be the underdogs, and it is likely that the two teams will not be able to go further. Because the remaining team is now a big team with many
star players, So I didn't think that teams like Benfica and Villarreal could still go further. But like you said, anything can happen in football,
so we'll see which teams will be against Villarreal and Benfica.
I didn't expect Juventus to lose the way they did. They had a couple of chances in the first half to score Virreal but missed them.

For Chelsea, a large chunk of the game was controlled by lille but they couldn't use their chances. Chelsea didn't play too well but they got the win.
Tuchel was a master mind in that game bringing a couple of changes to connect the Midfielders and the Attackers. Chelsea needed that and it yielded fruit for them. Rudiger was very solid to stop those threats from Lille.

It must happen in every competition even the Champions League made history when FC Porto won
but indeed this season the surprises come every week we'll see next week who's next

This round of the Champions League was just unbelievable. Ajax and Juventus both have been eliminated even though they were highly favourites in their matchups against Benfica and Villarreal respectively. And interestingly, they experienced the same scenario. They both took control of the game and found many chances to score. But none of them managed to score even one goal. Benfica defeated Ajax by 1-0 and Juventus were destroyed by Villarreal by 3-0. I was expecting to see Ajax and Juventus in the quarter finals. But football can be really interesting sometimes.
By the way, I am not surprised that Villarreal went further in the match with Juventus, I am much more surprised by the score that was shown in this match. With all due respect to Juventus, the team looks unstable this season and I'm already starting to sneer at the people who rejoiced at the departure of Pirlo and Cristiano Ronaldo from the team. You can talk as much as you like about the strength of Juventus, but still the team lost a lot after the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo. Especially when it turned out that the team could not agree with Dibala on a contract extension. It is sad and funny when a football player's agent leaves after negotiations because the club's representatives have again changed the terms of the contract.

I think tomorrow night will have drawing for champion leagur and europe leagie because all drawing time always waiting for secomd europe competition as europe league. I tjink on this round not any specific team will face each other, have possibility for the same cou try will against on quarter final, exactly last 16 round can't have the same country will against and have different on quarter final, but I hope Real Madrid could against with Benfica or Villareal as not favorite team to semi final.

Juventus have just disappointed all of their supporters by getting a huge loss like 3-0 home. Villarreal were going to make difficulties for them surely but this was beyond my expectation honestly. I don't know how this game came to this point in only fifteen minutes. Juventus were keeping the game under control mostly but they still failed big time. After the Vlahovic transfer, I was hoping for Juventus to be more successful but they need to be much better than this as a team.

Not only their own supporters we as gamblers are also disappointed it doesn't make sense for us Juventus to lose at home
I understand anything can happen in every game but losing without scoring a goal is really embarrassing
Surely it's big disappointment for fans and peoples around the world but still this is big achievement from them after having very difficult start of this season in Serie A and in Champions League they reach in knock out stage specially when they have very long list of injured players with them.

Now after this exit we can expect a big comeback from them in next season with new players are making their mark in this side, and they already achieved some good results in Italian League with most chances they will settle for third or fourth spot for this season and having good chance for reaching into Champions League for next season which was not easy few weeks back, but now things are happening in positive for them and their attitude is also very good for next season.

Sadly we have only four countries in the last eight teams with 3 from England and Spain and 1 from Portugal and Germany.

I definitely did not expected Villareal to dominate the way they did last night. The funny thing is, last year Villareal won the europa league against United, and everyone said that it was a fluke and United was a better team and Villareal was just lucky to win that game.

This year, Villareal is now going to next stage whereas United failed to do so, which means that Villareal once again had a better season than United this year as well. I do not know if this was a fluke as well-, we gotta ask the British I guess. This is why never really trust the feedbacks of a fan, they will always find excuses on their failure and United has been failing for a long time now.

Somehow it is a shame that PSG is no longer in it. There is a lot of criticism of this team,

I don't blame the players or coach, I blame the league they're playing at. There's no competition in their league like there's no match you can look at and compare them to other top games in other leagues. In the premier league, there are multiple game you'll consider top games and this kind of games help clubs prepare for other top clubs from other league when they encounter them in competition like the champions league.

This top matches can also be found in other league like in la Liga, we have matches between Real Madrid vs Barcelona and Atletico, Premier league has Manchester City vs Liverpool, Chelsea etc, Bayern Munich has Dortmund to prepare them against top clubs from other league but what does PSG has, nobody. They can easily beat any team in their league with ease and this weaken their fighting spirit when they meet bigger teams and this is evident as they keep getting knockout.

A more relaxed league is also the German bundesliga, Bayern Munich has won the league for the past nine to ten years but yet have their eyes high on the European competition Champions League.
I don't think their poor/ uncompetitive league they play has any to do with this, reflecting back at that game, they the defender's where a bit sloppy and the whole team entirely.
Also the coach has a role in this, if the team is doing good, all praise goes to the coach, bit if he isn't the opposite happens.
In this case I'll blame Pochetino for not being good enough for them, or might be that that team are too big to handle.
