This week bad luck or better the worst luck has been seen in the game of yesterday between Juventus vs Villareal.Juventus did a lot of attacking and dominated the game until that 78th minute that completely turned things around. The real hero of Villareal was the goalkeeper and not any midfielder or attacker, they just took profit of a great counter attack which was turned into a goal and that was all.I say worse luck because there is a non written saying in football which is "if you don't score, you will concede no matter how good you play" and that is exactly what happened yesterday night.
It's a great surprise, I think a lot of cities lost as a result of this result. I didn't think they would lose big, even in my guess juvetus would win and qualify. If you look at the game then I have to praise Geronimo Rulli he became a hero because of the many chances Juve failed. In addition, the penalty given to Villareal seemed to make Juventus destroyed. Vlahovic also can not be free, he is closely guarded so there are not many chances he has.
I did as you did and I bet on Juventus in this match but it was a pretty big loss here.
I think it's in the game that Villarreal completely locks the movement of Juventus in this case. They are not free to do anything in this match that keeps them stuck.
Dusan was well guarded so he couldn't give his best in this match

Villarreal showed once again just how efficient they can be. They patiently waited for their chance, scored from their first shot on target and eventually finished the game with 100% scoring efficiency - 3 shots and 3 goals.

They showed last year in the EL final just how tactical they can be, and even if they will be one of the weakest teams in the QF-s they can still be really dangerous in the knockout phase.
Villarreal played very patiently in this match and took advantage of the mistakes of Juventus players to score, this result was really unexpected, not many predicted they would be able to win with a big score. besides that Juventus have really been really bad this season both in this match and in the Domestic league matches, they are not able to be consistent in giving their best game.
Villarreal can be a dangerous team in the UCL this season, it can't be underestimated they played very patiently and neatly. maybe on the next trip they will return a surprise.
Honestly I can't believe Juventus have been beaten. Credit must be given to Unai Emery and the miracle he's pulling at Villareal. He is a specialist in decisive games like this. It is not all about possession and dominating play. This is a clear example that playing does not matter if you don't convert your chances. Juventus had a lot of the ball and made good chances, I think they underestimated this Villareal side a bit, in the end Villarreal took their chances and won the game. Its a disappointing failure to be honest, conceding three goals in the space of 15 minutes. Juventus weren't even clinical with the chances they had, plus the team's defence too was sloppy Villarreal were the better side they won the game.

After the surprising result Ajax got, there was another one for Juventus yesterday. They lost to Villarreal by 3-0 in Italy and it must be a really embarrassing result for them too. They shouldn't have been eliminated like this at least. It was a really awkward match. Juventus played all the time but Villarreal punished them many times after Juventus failed in scoring even one goal. Vlahovic and Morata found important chances actually but couldn't benefit from them. Who would have thought that Villarreal would score 3 goals consecutively in the last fifteen minutes of the match? I didn't for example.  Grin
About Ajax, for me it is not a surprising result at all although indeed, the odds show that Ajax are favorites but that is not a guarantee. Because maybe they were considering Ajax who previously played away and managed to draw Benfica, it was like a guarantee that Ajax would win at home but that didn't happen. About Juventus, obviously this was a real surprise how not, Juventus who had everything looked good but they were really unlucky. All the Villarreal players seemed to be playing very well especially with their goalkeeper, all the shots on goal made by Juventus were handled well by Geronimo Rulli.

It was another shocking night to me in the Champions League. Because we witnessed another big surprise in this round of the tournament. I was thinking that Juventus would finish their job successfully even though they struggle against a solid team like Villarreal. Maybe Villarreal were not doing very well in the La Liga but they were playing strongly here. Juventus started the game very dominantly and kept it until the end of the first half also. But there was still no goal. They maintained their effort in the second half for around half an hour too. But Villarreal scored a penalty goal that was shocking for Juventus. And the biggest shock was their second goal in only 7 minutes. After that, Juventus players were very demoralized and lost the game by 3-0 home. Such a big disappointment!
It was a shocking result yesterday, nobody would have thought or bet against juventus to lose in last night game, Villarreal gave us a shocker of a game and kudos to them for going to the next round, I saw geovanni Locelso last night playing for Villarreal, I was amazed by his efforts and power that he put in the game, but the surprising thing is that he never put such efforts when playing for Tottenham Hotspur.
Another player that impressed me last night was Vlahovic he is more talented than I thought he is a top player if things had gone his way than juventus would have been two goals after first half.

I always say to all the people who say " ohhh the Premier League its the best league in the world and the most hard", and that its "true" yes, its the better league to see, and the most competitive between them, BUT if you look to europe the dominating one with a lot less money than premier its LaLiga, you can check this by yourself, and this its more significant in midfield teams , you can look Sevilla winning the Europa League a lot of times against teams of the so called "big six", or Villarreal itself the past year.
I think the premier league has more media presence and promotion hence there are more money available for teams due to TV rights. These monies help those seemingly small teams in the league to be able to purchase players, I mean very good players which in turn increase their chances to compete with the big teams in the league. Hence, it is believed the Epl is the best and most difficult league in the world but it is not really! European competitions have proven this fact to be wrong over the years. The teams from Spain seems to be better but again the media hype around the English teams will always have its way.

I didn't understand what happened to Juventus, losing the game could happen
but losing with 3 goals to 0 is a big humiliation in my opinion

I don't understand, I was also very surprised by this disappointing performance
I think they lost faith immediately after the first goal. They realized they weren't going to score with the team they have. They had some good scoring chances and shots from Vlahovic in the first half, but the second one was just wasteful. Juventus is lucky there are only two goals on a football field, otherwise they wouldn't know which one to turn their back to. Disappointing. Arthur, De Sciglio, Cuadrado, and Danilo just passing the ball along. This is the 4th or 5th year in a row where they are knocked out in the 1/8 finals. Unless they bring in midfielders who know how to play football and create chances, I don't expect any improvements next season either. You can't have the likes of Rabiot and Arthur running your midfield, no matter what the injury situation is.

I really thought Juventus is going to play a lot better than this. I thought that they are going to play far better against a team like Villarreal. But after the first goal, they really look like they have nothing to offer, they had no coordinated attacks. And most importantly they did not pass the ball with intention of scoring goals.

I absolutely agree that the made field is really bad right now and things really need to change very quickly. But, I have to say I like the way Villarreal played the match. They didn't Rush things and let the opportunities present themselves.

I don't think 0-3 is a deserved end result for Villareal to win against Juventus because I think Juventus are the favorite team in the Champions League compared to Villareal. But fate said otherwise where Juventus with a lot of experience also had to lose by a big score after Villarreal got 2 penalties by the referee. Villareal's win was totally unexpected in my opinion.
In the end the quarter-finals were dominated by Spain and England where there were 3 teams from both leagues each getting tickets to the quarter-finals. This proves that Laliga and the Premier League are still the best leagues in Europe today, even without Barcelona or Sevilla. However I think the Champions League title this season will still belong to an English team, be it Liverpool or Manchester City (depending on who gets into the final).
It's too early to say that this season's Champions League title will belong to the English team, don't rule out German Bayern Munich and Spain's Real Madrid, the kings of the Champions League, there is still a long way to go to win the title.
really the results that juventus got were beyond the expectations of many people, juventus was able to hold villareal to a draw in the 1st leg even though at that time juventus was playing away, even when playing at home in front of their own supporters they lost by a landslide score, this is really surprising.
in this match in the early minutes Juventus played quite well even they could manage the tempo of the game well but disaster came in the 78th minute when Villarreal's Gerard Moreno scored from a penalty kick which made the Juventus players panic, wanting to reply immediately so concentration in defense was greatly reduced and Villarreal's players could take advantage of it well by scoring an additional 2 goals in the last minute of the game.
Overall, Villarrean's game was not very good but they were lucky because they got a very inconsistent opponent from Juventus this season, playing in the quarter-finals I think it will be very difficult for Villarreal to meet a team of above average quality. .

I really don't know if the 3-0 score was deserved or not for Villarreal, but I can certainly say that almost everyone expected Juventus to play better and smarter. After the first goal, they really seemed like they needed to score the goal right at the whistle for the start of play after the goal,, otherwise, it is going to be too late. And the opponent took advantage of that certain collapse in concentration.

And even though the English teams seem to be really good to win the Champions League trophy I wouldn't rule out Real Madrid and Bayern Munich. The way Real Madrid beat PSG made me believe in them. And we all know what Bayern Munich can do.

Villarreal showed talent and moreso, the spirit of relentless and team loyalty in their approach to the game; the team played like they trusted themselves. Their confidence was high and are well deserved winners, Juventus has played most games this season having luck on their sides but you can't always be hoping luck will be on your side every game. It's a shame that Juventus have been knocked out of the Champions League in successive seasons by Ajax, Lyon, Porto & Villarreal. These four clubs are seemingly not deemed big enough for sides live Juventus. Probably, they should have stick with Saarri intead bring back Allegri. They looked better last season compared to this.
Juventus gave up the attack after the second goal by Pau Torres and Villareal kept pressing on for more goals which game them a clean lead against Juventus. Villareal has secured their place in the next stage of the tournament. Juventus played a good match but were too aggressive with their defense. there is nothing about that loss that looks shameful in football a team must win

Life, Love and Laughter...
Manchester City can easily win the UEFA champion's league, what has been against them so far is the lack of experience to compete in the finals stage. The truth is on paper, that team is formidable and having Pep Guardiola as the coach makes it more exciting. In my honest opinion, I think they are ready ; they should have learned from the previous champions league seasons. Remember, Chelsea was once like City in the UEFA champions league before they could crack the code. I would like to give Manchester City a chance to win the title.

On paper, sure.  Man City prolly has the best team of players and play the best squad everytime they play in the CL.  And Pep is a good manager.  But really now, saying that City can win the UCL easily?  No...  If anything I think in a two leg match vs Bayern Munich or Liverpool, both Klopp and Nagelsmann could outfox Pep too, even if City has the best squad on paper.

Here are the lines for the outrights.

https://stake.com/sports/outright/soccer/international-clubs/uefa-champions-league/41983969-uefa-champions-league-21-22

Just looking at that, you can't really discount any club winning the UCL except maybe Benfica and Villareal.

What I'm worried happen eventually, the pattern goes as what the previous 2 CL matches where away team go the the next round. This week all 4 teams that played as away team are those who win the match and eligible for the next round. I was watching the match and I predicted that Juve will lose after the shoot from Vlahovic hit the bar. It is a well known myth in my country where there is a shot on goal but it hit the bar then it will be hard for the team to win. Juventus played well in the first half, but everything changed after the penalty by Gerard Moreno. Juventus were so frustrated because they tried hard but failed to score goal. Villareal's goalkeeper deserve to be man of the match obviously as he made many significant saves.

Actually, I have to say I don't believe in superstitions.

If we think about this tecnically, Juventus lost because of having a bad midfield and panicking at the wrong moment. I expected there to play better and also have better results. But credit goes to Villarreal. They played really smart and weighted for the right opportunity. But you are right about the home/away prediction though.

-snip
Wow! That's some accurate and notable prediction. I just got curious after finding that on your comment and the pattern is exactly as you said. All away teams winning there games this week and qualifying for the next round but, what is also more surprising is that last week, all home teams although not all of them scored or won in the second leg but, the teams got to qualify for the next round. Interestingly it seems to be a home against away side on consecutive weeks, lol... I think this could be an option in sports betting of the book markers takes note of this events and your sure bettors will bet and its going to come with a lot of money too.

I agree that was some really good prediction. All the away teams seem to be ready and have done their homework correctly to win against the side that is playing in home conditions. Without this comment, I actually probably wouldn't have noticed that.

Of course, I'm also not sure who will win the title this season although it looks like the English teams, both Liverpool and Manchester City, are the favourites. I'm also not going to ignore Real Madrid and Bayern Munich because they are teams with good ability and quality so far. These teams also stand a chance to win the title.

I hope Manchester City can return to the final this season and successfully win the title. I know it's tough, but some of their previous failures should be a valuable lesson for success this season.

Indeed, the results obtained by Villarreal are extraordinary, they can answer all their doubts against Juventus. And they proved to lock the victory by creating goals that are not small as well.
They did their best so far, and now they are going to compete in the top 8, it's not easy for them, because from what I see Villarreal is one of the weakest teams in this top 8. But I hope they can change that with another win.

Juventus actually managed to dominate the game, Juventus also managed to shoot right at the goal 5 times, but unfortunately they conceded in the last minute of the match, the parking bus implemented by Villareal managed to silence Juventus with a score of 3-0, this incident reminds me of the match between Chelsea vs Barca, at that time Barca also managed to dominate the match but in the end they also lost at the hands of Chelsea, sometimes the coach also doesn't want to care about a beautiful and entertaining game but sometimes the coach just wants to win, with Juventus' defeat last night, representatives from Italy is no longer left in the champions league, representatives from England who have survived the most in the champions league. Hopefully this year's prestigious trophy can be brought home by representatives from England.

Before the first penalty, the game was very good and nothing foreshadowed such a rout. I won’t say that I completely agree with this penalty, but I will say that it was this penalty that made adjustments to the result of this match and knocked down the whole mood of the Juventus players. 0:3 is a very unexpected result. Rulli was excellent in this match.
