The matchups that it is very difficult to predict the qualifier in are Atletico Madrid - Manchester United and PSG - Real Madrid now. The former is the most difficult one to be more precise. Because there is not much difference between these teams in terms of strength now and the result of the first match was 1-1. And in the other matchup, PSG are the closer team to qualify for the quarter final round as they won the first leg by 1-0. But we can't know what will happen in Santiago Bernabeu. Real Madrid are a much more different team in their home matches. PSG should watch out for a big threat.

Until the second half, I thought that Atletico would be able to win, I really wanted to believe that the defense would be able to can hold back the attack of Manchester United, but still conceded a goal. Now the game away will be very difficult, but I think that the chances of the teams to win remain equal. It's bad when a team relies on one player, and as we can see, Ronaldo does not help the team very much in this.
I was very disappointed in Atletico Madrid, they performed less than they should have. I know they are not in the best shape right now but for me they performed below average. If Manchester United can bring their top game in the 2nd leg then they can advance.
You are basically right but look, how often did Manchester United play a decent home game this season? Manchester is performing badly as well, they hardly dominate the games over longer periods of time or win by 2 or 3 goals in home games. This game is still a 50/50 game I would say. Ronaldo isn't the scoring machine he used to be, Atletico is out of shape. It is a weird constellation when you read Manchester against Atletico that you are actually watching two clubs that play average soccer at best.

Manchester United were really lucky to be able to draw that match with Atletico Madrid. Whenever Atletico Madrid were on the attack Manchester United did not look confident at all. And the defenders looked like they were turning like the Titanic. Manchester United actually did well to get that one goal and come out of the match with one point. But whenever they were defending they looked like brainless zombies.

A tie between ATM and United could be something very great, I mean it means that United actually got a tie at Madrid and that is a great thing. Now they are going to back to Manchester and that is going to be a lot better for them. I am not saying that we are going to see a win from United but I would say getting a tie at an away game is better than getting a tie at the home game and that means ATM is at a worse situation right now then United.
I would guess that if United managed to get a tie at the away game then it should be easier for them to get a win now against ATM at their home game. This is not guaranteed but it is definitely a better situation to be in.
I think Manchester United played well enough considering their current form. they did well to draw that match after being a goal down from almost at the start of the match. But I actually expected a better performance from Athletico Madrid as this was their home match. Now Manchester United has a good chance of winning the second leg as it will be played in their home ground. But, I actually will not be surprised if something opposite happens. Because to be honest I don't trust either of these teams right now.
Manchester United were clueless as usual in the first half and Atletico Madrid did the early pressing and got the goal, Atletico Madrid were a bit unlucky as well, watching 2 of their balls hit the woodwork which would have given them a substantial lead and in the second half Manchester United tried to up their game and the coach made some unlikely changes which actually paid off and Manchester United got a goal which saw the match end as a draw.

If Atletico Madrid had scored those goals, it would have been GG for Manchester United. But luckily for them, Atletico Madrid didn't score.

Actually, the first goal that was scored by a header was also off the post. I think Atletico Madrid needs to work on their finishing accuracy a little. And about Manchester United, well, I really don't know what to say, they just did well to not lose.
in the 1st leg match there were many opportunities that the Atletico Madrid strikers could not maximize, in terms of the game they could control them well.
but in this 2nd leg they will play at home to Manchester United, they are very strong when playing at home although sometimes they can't be consistent, I think in this 2nd leg the opportunity to qualify is still very open for both teams.
but my prediction is that Manchester United will be able to beat Atletico, and Ronaldo will be a scary figure for Atletico. he has always been able to score against Atletico in the Champions League both for Real Madrid and Juventus.

But at least they are now better than Atletico and that was proven when they dominated in the first leg.
And yes of course this will add a little motivation for them when seen by their own supporters.
For Ronaldo, I really hope for the best but of course we can't depend on this one player because this will be a very personal burden when we depend on one person in a team.

when viewed from the game of the two teams in the first leg, PSG were very superior in all respects, both ball control and shots against the goal and from the composition of the existing players PSG was also superior to Real Madrid, after seeing the game of the two teams in the first leg I am pessimistic for Real Madrid to be able to qualify for the next round, even I predict that it is very likely that PSG can win again in the second leg later.
There are indeed quite striking differences when looking at the match in the first leg. Real Madrid just rely on their usual quick counter-attack. But Paris Saint-Germain is too strong for Real Madrid to do like that.
But on the other hand, Real Madrid will play at home, and for sure they will not let Paris Saint-Germain party because they can qualify for the next phase.

Real Madrid must try hard to qualify from the last 16, because they are 1 goal behind on aggregate from Paris Saint-Germain. Paris Saint-Germain is also not a team that is easy to beat by the Real Madrid team. But I still believe that Real Madrid will be able to do that with their hard work. Yes they definitely want to repeat the history that Real Madrid did when they turned things around in the second leg.

The big win that manchester city got in the 1st leg of course made their move in the 2nd leg a little safer, but still I think manchester city will field their best squad later in the face of sporting, I think manchester city which is now one step closer to Round big 8 of course will not underestimate sporting in the 2nd leg later.

I think Manchester United task is clearly quite heavy in the 2nd leg later, even though they play at home against Atlético later, I don't think it will be too profitable for Manchester if Rangnick doesn't improve the weak defense at this time, I think Manchester United biggest weakness at this time this is the defense of those who often make silly mistakes.
I would assume that even if they didn't had a big win, they would not be worried against a team like Lisbon. I mean every single week they are beating teams 10x better than Lisbon (at least on paper) and they are not having hard time about it neither. Even, with some miracle they had a tie in that game, I am 100% sure that they would come back and win this one pretty easily.

I feel like they will not even fight that harshly and yet still end up beating them as well. It is going to be quite easy and it is going to be like 2-0 or 3-0 even without the current situation. Cannot say that I will be shocked neither, it is quite easily the most expected thing ever for City.
Manchester city are on the safer side after their 5-0 win in the first leg against sporting, I think Pep will rest a lot of important players for the second leg  because of the Epl games seeing that liverpool is catching up on city real quick. I will love to see pep win the champions league with city and I am sure that is his ultimate dream right now.

Ajax played really well as usual and benfica who haven’t been in the best of forms delivered as well, benfica did well in scoring 2 goals and getting a draw agains Ajax that is in the best of forms right now and we all know there is no doubt the second leg is going to be an easy game for Ajax, they might even with  a clean sheet.
Actually, when the result of the match is a draw, then the chances in the 2nd Leg will also be the same so that every club that has already played a draw in the first Leg must try to improve its performance so that one of them can qualify for the next round.
So this cannot be accurately ascertained at this time even though the Ajax club looks more likely to win.
A draw is actually not the result that every team wants because it will only have a small chance of winning in the second leg, the only advantage is that they will play at home.
like Atletico Madrid vs Manchester United 1-1 and Benfica Vs Ajax: 2-2, and all teams still have a chance to win and are required to improve their game and also improve their performance in the second leg later, and winning is their goal let alone the loser at home in the first leg. And it looks like the second leg which has a draw will be a very interesting match to watch.

There were 4 matches in the first leg which resulted in a draw, that's not what the team playing at home wants in the first leg. Because they will
struggle in the second leg by playing away, even though the away goal doesn't matter at the moment, at least for the team that played away
in the first leg it was a bit advantageous that they didn't lose. Although the teams that play at home in the second leg are much more
advantaged, because playing at home has greater support from fans. Besides playing at home, the morale of players is usually much higher,
because there is a motivation not to want to disappoint the supporters. Bayern, Juventus, Man United and Ajax are the 4 teams that won a draw
in the first leg. So the 4 teams that I mentioned should have a greater chance of winning in the second leg because they will play at home
in the second leg.

Ajax could have defeated Benfica much easier actually but they couldn't. And Benfica took advantage of it as a result. But Ajax players must still be very confident about their probability of qualifying for the next round. I don't think Benfica will be able to do the same there. Ajax would even destroy them by a big score difference. In short, I see it guaranteed that Ajax will be advancing to next round. The thing I wonder about is what team will be their opponent in the quarter finals.

Of course. Any club would not want extra time, especially penalty kicks. They certainly want to score first until the end and end the match with a win, especially a goal distance is quite good.
However, we will not know how it will turn out. So maybe there is still the possibility of extra time.
Yes, that's right, Man United has a bit more advantage by playing at home. Hopefully, this can trigger their motivation, not even make them play with greater pressure.
The whole question is whether there is enough strength and effort of the teams not to bring the situation to this. Therefore, I think that Manchester United, thanks to the home stadium and the fans, will put more effort into this, and then how the game itself will develop. A lot will depend on how the start of the match will turn out, whether any of the opponents will be able to score a quick goal. I also think that Ronaldo should show himself better in this match, because he should be very unhappy with the first match and to be honest, Cristiano's match did not work out from the word at all. Another question is whether Rangnick will give him this chance or prefer other candidates for the starting lineup.

That's right. According to UEFA's official Twitter account, Russian aggression against Ukraine prompted UEFA to announce an emergency meeting of the Executive Board, at which it was decided not to stage the Champions League final in St. Petersburg on May 28. In addition, all domestic matches of Ukrainian and Russian clubs and national teams participating in UEFA competitions will be played on neutral grounds until further notice.

Although that's a start, I feel it is not enough. In my opinion, all Russian football teams should be banned from participating in international competition.

UEFA changing the venues is already enough in my opinion. I don't see how banning Russian teams is a good thing especially since the teams aren't the one making the calks or ordering the military, it's the government. Yet Russian clubs and businesses would be the ones to suffer the consequences? UEFA has done it's part and setting neutral venue for those matches goes to show that they are concerned about the situation with Ukraine and Russia and have done their part.
Yupp politics should be separated from football.

No matter what happened outside the field .. the decision making must be based on non-political consideration.
By banning russian teams .. it's just shows how uefa take parts of the political movement which it's sad to see.
Changing the venue was reasonable as it's for the safety , but banning ? That's unthinkable.

Yes, this new regulation actually gives pros and cons. But imo, this is fair enough to maximize their games even at home or away.
If the result until the extra time is still a draw, it will be a dramatic penalty between Man United vs Atletico Madrid then, then.  Cheesy
I still think that neither Manchester United nor Atletico Madrid will want to bring the matter to extra time and will try to decide the outcome of the match in their favor in regular time. Moreover, Manchester United will play at their home stadium with the support of their fans, so you can still give MU some advantage due to this factor.

That's a very drastic measure, mate. It's not like it's the Russian clubs calling shots for the Ukrainian Invasion. In fact, some Russian civilians have been protesting against the invasion. If you ban the clubs, then that means you are banning even innocent civilians from participating in the sport.

The reason for the change in venues is mostly for the safety of players, not political.
