....It seems to be an unprepared project, done in a great hurry, probably an attempt at blackmail and pressure on UEFA before the reorganization and the new Champions League competition system.
It wasn't prepared yesterday and UEFA is most likely aware of this planned new league. I don't know what those Super League execs or heads are thinking but the announcement was too early. They thought UEFA would not retaliate and hand down prompt punishment to the three involved teams.

This supposed penalty, in my view, was more to frighten.

But in reality, this history of the Super League, had as main objective, to compel UEFA to think better about the rules that it is thinking to implement in the Champions League.

They probably prepare all of these for long ago. The official annoucement is just to see how the UEFA reacts. They are all billionaries and they must have calculated all of the move in order to proceed the league. Let see how the big boys going to do with such retaliation. On the other hands, UEFA can not ban all of the big teams beacuse they have most fans around the world. Banning only cause bad results not just for UEFA but also to the whole soccer community

I'm really interested to see whether they can kick out the semifinalists during this season's competition and what would their alternative be. PSG is the only semifinalist that is not a Superleague founder, if we take the QF teams into the equation we get Porto, Borussia and Bayern.

PSG already won against Bayern so would it maybe be a Borussia - Porto semifinal? So many questions in the air and the answers need to start coming soon.

I hope UEFA doesn't decide to ban Real Madrid, Chelsea and Manchester City from the Champions League now. But I don't think it would run the risk of being deprived of the extra income that will come from the remaining games. And of course the supporters would be really angry with it in case it does that.
I don't really know why those clubs took that hasty decision in forming ES at this point in time  when they knew that UCL semi-final is around  the corner and the consequences of taking such a decision will lead to an outright ban from UEFA and FIFA.
Personally they should allow ESL to run concurrently with UCL and other leagues once there is no clashes, ESL matches is billed for mid weeks and it meant to generate more funds for those clubs now that their is lack of funds to run clubs due to restrictions these are alternative means to generate extra income for clubs.

It seems that the Super League started to fall apart even before it started, judging by this news:
''Hearing from a source with knowledge that one of the big six English clubs is now seriously considering pulling out of the Super League

They are accusing Liverpool and Manchester United — the 2 clubs leading the breakaway — of lying to them and “f***ing up”

Major split in ESL''

Given the great pressure and dissatisfaction from UEFA, the fans, even the governments and the EU, I think it's a good chance that nothing will change and that once a compromise is reached between the rebels and UEFA, everything will continue as before.
I believe that the Champions League will continue as before, with all clubs.
What do you think?

This whole European super League is utter crap of the worst sort!
They will end up playing in their golden league while the rest of the world will keep on playing for peanuts. This is basically the same as cornering the market or maintaining a huge monopoly over the only revenue streams that give blood to football teams.
This is all very sad.
Everything is crap about this league, starting from the critea teams are picked to play in this so called super league.

You can't have a few teams given golden tickets to play in it and the rest are left out to scramble for the remaining slots....total BS! This also looks like a parallel UEFA champions league which is to side line other participating clubs as there are fewer seats to play for.

Is this a bail out package for the teams participating? To many answered questions sounding this hope these guys feel the displeasure coming from their fans!

@Woodie as per the latest reports none of team can back out now, and this is very interesting because Klopp has already turned this idea down, and if it goes ahead then he’ll possibly quit Liverpool (my opinion no confirmation for now). Also Gary Neville has been on fire ever since this announcement has come in, and the way he’s only targeting Manutd feels bad, as they’re not the only club who signed up for it.

This season semi-final match between Chelsea and Real Madrid is going to be a tough one. With Chelsea not having any hope in winning the Premier League and also reaching the semi-final for the first time since 2014, and Real Madrid on the other hand had been preparing for this great match.

Manchester City, going to France to play P.S.G is also going to be an interesting one.
Let's watch who will advance to the final.

Chelsea is currently ranked 5th in the EPL. The chances of winning English Primer Lague seem small because of the large difference in points. Based on this, I think Tuchel should focus on UCL, for the EPL, perhaps the target to enter the UCL zone without qualification is a good thing for now. Regarding Madrid vs Chelsea, I still support Madrid to win. The first leg will take place in Spain, I think madrid have to win at least 2 goals without conceding. For PSG and City I chose PSG to win at the moment.

I agree with you. Is there a law that prohibits the creation of a league not under the auspices of Uefa? I don't think that any league will remove the teams from the list. Yes, and this Champions League will be played as it should. All threats will remain just threats. But Perez made a big mistake by not agreeing with Uefa. All the same, there will be some sanctions against the clubs in the Super League.

The clubs themselves, having one more competition in their calendar, will have more games to play and this may already harm the teams.

Of course, they can be penalized, for example for not being accepted in the next edition of the Champions League. But then, did the Champions League have as many recipes as it does now? I doubt.

So now they talk about penalties, but then they won't do it, because they themselves would be more affected.

We have to be realistic, the fans would still want to see the games of these big clubs, no matter what competition they are in.
We are talking about clubs that generate almost the same revenue in private matches, as in official matches.

I think also that the Chelsea-Real Madrid draw will be very competitive. I expect Chelsea to play much better than Liverpool against Real Madrid. Liverpool have been really bad in their league and we've seen its reflection on the Champions League also. Chelsea are in a better condition and they should be able to put up a good fight against Real Madrid.

City-PSG is another tough draw. Both teams are one of the biggest favourites for the championship here. It's gonna be great to watch both games and I find City a little closer than PSG to the final.

Welp, this year's CL may be cut short.  Cry

https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/chelsea-fc-manchester-city-real-madrid-champions-league-european-super-league-b930535.html

Basically UEFA went apeshit and is threatening to permanently ban Chelsea, Man City and Real from UEFA competitions for forming a "European Super League".

And this competition won't be fun if PSG automatically wins.  Undecided

I think there is no way that they will do such thing this season for the teams which have joined the European Super League. It doesn't make sense in any way. It wouldn't be fair for PSG to win the title automatically. I understand UEFA's frustration about this news. But they shouldn't act in anger now.

WTF Chelsea, Manchester City, and Real City could be banned as soon as the very next Friday!! I thought UEFA would allow them to finish the current championship but officials seem to be really angry and determined to be the most brutal and violent they could be to punish the renegades. That sounds crazy and not fully legal in my opinion. And above all counterproductive because I don't know how those clubs could be able to forgive such a punishment, they would certainly definitely leave UEFA after that.

Quote
Uefa executive committee member Jesper Moller says three of the remaining four semi-finalists will likely be banned at Friday’s meeting.

"The clubs must go, and I expect that to happen on Friday. Then we have to find out how to finish (this season's) Champions League tournament," said Moller, who is the head of the Danish FA, told broadcaster DR on Monday.

"There is an extraordinary executive committee meeting on Friday.”

This cannot really happen!
If, by chance, UEFA / FIFA moves forward with that decision, those affected clubs, players and selections will go to court with an action against UEFA / FIFA and with the European body for freedom of competition.

Basically, what is happening here is the creation of a league competing with UEFA, and legally this is not prohibited.
It may not be morally acceptable, but it is something that can be legal. So, I have serious doubts that they really do that kind of punishment.

I believe more than saying that they are going to be banned, it is more a strategy to try to demotivate, than something that will really happen.
UEFA lost more in banning than having a competing league.

Real Madrid players and supporters would be in for a very huge suprise if they strongly believe that they would blow the Chelsea side away. Tuchel has added a strong defensive mentality to the Chelsea team and with fast and high quality players they possess, Chelsea may just nick it against Real Madrid. In the second leg of their Quarter-Final game, Liverpool really ran circles around Real Madrid but couldn't capitalize and I'm sure Chelsea would look to apply the same pressure with a little more efficiency in front of goal. Tuchel would probably use the 3 CBs system and try to overload the midfield, reducing the power that Kross and Modric would have on the tie and ask Vinicius Jr. and Asensio to really show their resilience and commitment as they would have to attack and keep an eye on the Chelsea full-back. It would surely be a difficult game to predict but if Chelsea can keep their head and their shape over the two legs, they may be able to book a ticket to their first Champions league final since 2012

This season, Tuchel's team is a much composed team compared to Klopp's men that have come under heavy criticism due to poor and lackluster performances. Real Madrid too isn't the team they were years ago so I don't expect them to easily defeat Chelsea. Also worth noting that Tuchel is working round the club to ensure that he wins his first title as a Chelsea manager. We would see stiff competition but that's if the fixture is allowed to hold now that Super league project is becoming a reality.

This is all very sad.

The whole purpose of the super league is to give the founding clubs more pocket money. Even JPMorgan is bankrolling 5billion GBP total into the teams.

Apparently all this was done without consulting the coaches and players first, and now they're the ones who are getting the flak from fans Sad

And to be honest, what kind of Super league has Arsenal playing while finishing mid-table?  Huh

But Real president Perez said that if players will be banned from playing in World Cup, they will make their own World Cup.

LOL!!  Grin Then it would be a World Cup just for La Liga teams.
