It is strange that Manchester city shows so little internationally. Last season also gloriously down against a French team. And no, was not PSG. Thought Marseille or Lyon. they never win the Champions League this way.
It was Lyon winning with 3 goals vs 1 for City. City is struggling even in EPL although having money, good manager and relatively big names...

The English teams who have competed at UCL this season are looking well, as in fact all of them are top of the standings. That way I'm sure all English teams will advance to the next round, because even though the English team not be able to maintain the standings but at least the chance to be runner-up is still possible to maintain. Experienced coaches like Pep still won't guarantee even if they have a squad of star players, look what happened to Mou because all of that has its time.
It's always been a tough job for any coach to win the Champion despite having a squad full of star player. Barcelona, Real Madrid, Liverpool, Manchester City, Bayern Munich, Juventus are some of the name of the team that have been able to reach the Champion Final this season in my opinion. But everything is still uncertain because this season has too many surprises. I hope Barcelona will return to its former glory with Koeman, but I'm not sure that will happen.
The English team are still leading the standing for their respective group, looks good but we'll see how they are able to survive after reaching the last 16.

Bayern Munich 11/4
Manchester City 4/1
Liverpool 6/1
Barcelona 12/1
PSG 14/1
Juventus 16/1
Real Madrid 16/1

Every year we have amazing odds for Manchester City and every year they are destroyed before the Semifinals  Roll Eyes

My bet for this year is for Bayern and second place again for PSG.

PSG have the potential to be unbeatable if both Neymar and Mbappè are in the right evening.

Liverpool didn't really played that well last year on champions league, after winning it they looked like they were done with it and focusing on the league because on the year they won the champions league they lost to city in the league, whereas the year they won in the premier league they lost in champions league.

So, they will probably want to focus on winning both the league and the champions league at the same time this year, even if they fail to do either of them, they already got it once each in the past 2 years so that is not really a big deal anymore, which gives them some breathing room to play a bit more relaxed and I feel like not being stressed about stuff like these could make a team play not at 100% and have a doubt, but being relaxed could give your 100% because you just want to have fun.

^^ Yeah, impossible for me to see City as winning it. They have been among the favorites to win it for 4 seasons in a row now but only Bayern last season looked like they were going to win it in every game from the start. However, even when Liverpool won it, they were wobbly all the way, and in the season before that Real were looking like that, so City could still win it. Coin flip, some pundit said, and I agree.

Hence 12x for Barca good value to me;)
I think strong financial strength does not guarantee Manchester City to win, every year City get new player with higher price and alot of billion dollar out to buy new player and star player to etihad stadium but never give good promise for Manchester City become champion of champions league. After failed with many coach Manchester City try to get Pep Guardiola because he was success give trophy of champion league for Barcelona but almost five years in City he was failed out, never bring Manchester City to final champion league any more, I think mentality is needed how to get trophy of champion league.

The current odds to become champion of Europe. What do you think, who will win the trophy?
~~
It's very difficult to guess there is still a long way to go, but my favorite team is Madrid. But I'm not sure about their current situation. Unless they fix their problem on the next transfer by buying a new player. Meanwhile, if I look at their games in the group qualifiers and competitions in their country, of course I would prefer Bayern Munich to win again even though I'm not happy.
Normally Zidane is able to change in the middle of this trip and is still an allowance and must be able to continue in order to fix the problems we have faced, I am sure Zidane has strong tactics and currently they need players who can be relied on, maybe this will be a challenge for him to front?

I don't know why I really believe in Real Madrid even though it lost in the LaLiga with Valencia, I really want Zidane to be able to change the squad in his team.

Well yeah contact sports obviously, when you are talking about something like golf, you do not really need that much covid prevention, it is just you and few other golfers who you can stay away from and your caddy that's it. At the end of the day most of the sports that are watched at the highest level are contact sports, not really fighting level of contact (which they do get watched as well) but more like team sports which players touch each other.

Sure maybe some boxing game could get views more than a Southampton vs Brighton game but if you look at the league we are seeing 30-40 games a week from big nations leagues every week and when you combine that it is 100x more than boxing or ufc of golf because those are less common and happens once every few months only. So, I think covid prevention and cautions for sports are direly important.

that's exactly what I say too, unfortunately being this kind of sport we have to act accordingly - clearly non-contact sports are not affected - it is necessary to limit the infected players, access to the stadium must be limited

ok it's sad, but at least we can see it on tv

The same with the favorite teams to win the UCL. Two English teams (Man City and Liverpool), one from Germany (Bayern Munich), followed by two teams from Spanish La Liga (Real Madrid & FC Barcelona), then one from Italy's Serie A (Juventus).

It's going to be either Bayern Munich or Liverpool. I have a feeling that Man City will choke (again) in the QF or SF.

@Bttzed03 Manchester City are having a poor season, and I would not even consider them to win anything this season. Liverpool on the other hand yet have the hunger to win, but I feel that with their weak defenders they won’t be able to compete in the champions league. Lastly I feel that Bayern will win this league again, because they have a very strong squad and they simply look unbeatable to me.

I don't think Real Madrid is that good though, their odd is (20.0) fair enough. Bayern München odd is 2.75 which makes them heavy favorites. I wouldn't bet for this odd at this stage of Champions League. Yes they are favorites but this type of long term bet should be more rewardful to attract gamblers.
I don't have a favorite yet because we are still in group stage which is too early to make predictions. Champions League fight starts after 1/8 games. Smiley

My money wouldn't be on Barca. Their team has been decimated this season. Got rid of half their players. They've also lost two games and drawn two out of their last five. Bayern and City should be up there. Still not sure I have faith in City and they're off to a shaky start in the PL. Bayern would be my top pick but anything can happen in the Champion's League.

I don't think that Barca will play an important role in the Champions League this season either. There is just too much drama going on in this club (Messi drama, Bartomeu, salary cut etc.) and they have to get these things sorted out at first. Next season they'll probably need to completely restructure their team. Right now I see teams like Bayern, City, Liverpool, Juve, PSG and Real in a better position this season.

What I think will also play an important role when it comes to the next winner of the UCL is how the K.O. matches are being played out. Will there be an outward and return match again? Or will it be only one single match like last season? The way last season was played out is favouring smaller teams a bit since it's easier to get a surprise win than in two matches.

As a Barca fan, have to agree here. Of course, we all have deep hopes for our own team and I said before early in the season I would think Koeman sees La Liga as a priority, but he might actually want to try and win UCL first (because of the better format this season of KO which I think is still in place) and hope that sort of eases the pressure.

Things like no Ansu Fati now for a long period also means sustaning La Liga challenge becomes even more difficult over the entire season. The drama is slowly being sorted out so let's see

Even as hardcore Barca fan, I wouldn't bet on my tesm to win CL this year. Probably we won't have big problems in group stage, but for me it's already too scary to think what will happen when we will face stronger team like Bayern, Liverpool or City in playoff stage. Memories of these huge loses is still alive - Juventus, Roma, Liverpool, Bayern...

The current odds to become champion of Europe. What do you think, who will win the trophy?

It looks like they are determining the odds from the results from the legs that have already played. That's the only reason I can find for Man City being second even though they have never won the title.

It's way too early to predict who will win the title, though Bayern and Barcelona are favorites again, I would've added Liverpool but I don't think they can make it that far without van Dijk playing.
