No doubt the arrival of David Moyes has brought so many changes to the West Ham team even though they have not really done so well in the English Premier League this season but they have had an outstanding victories in the conference league even as they are heading to the finals after  defeating AZ Alkmaar home and away with an aggregate of 1:3. To be honest West Ham has really been so good through out their outting in the conference league and winning the trophy wouldn't be a surprise to me because they have what it takes to bring the trophy home and it's going to be a wonderful experience if they win the trophy regardless of their position in the premier league this season. The travels only affected their performance in the league but during the European outing they have enjoyed a run of wins regardless of their tight match schedule.

It's going to be an interesting final between these two, West Ham and Fiorentina.
West Ham is having a hard time in the league, but it turns their league form is not reciprocated in the conference league. They have been solid in every match they've layer in the conference league. It's almost like the sacrificed the premier league for the conference league. I can't explain why they are struggling in the league but they shouldn't be with the kind of squad and spirits they've got.
They were also good in the Europa league last season before they where knocked out by Frankfurt I think. This season they've made it all the way to the final of the conference league. That's impressive.

Fiorentina too are a ferocious team. They play well and can hurt their opponents at unexpected times, we saw that today with the late goal they scored against Basel. I didn't expect Fiorentina to win Basel away from home after losing to them at home. But they fought hard and managed to take the game to extra time and sunk the heart of all of Basel in the dyinginutes of the game. Fiorentina even had another last minute chance from Jovic but it hit the bar. An impressive performance from them.

Fiorentina just shocked Basel in the 129th minute . Insane Barak from the bench scored a goal that killed all hopes for Basels first ever final. As expected we will have the final between Fiorentina and West Ham and will be intrested to see what will happen. West Ham is the favorite for me in that duel

David Moyes deserves all the praises he's currently getting from both the fans and the media for his outstanding job with his West Ham team. West Ham has been at the top of their game in the UEFA Conference League this season despite the all the stress that comes with traveling to other far distant European nations to play games coupled with the congested domestic league fixtures.
With the incredible results they've achieved so far, West might win the competition and return home with an European trophy

Basel is my favorite as well, and they are now back even with Fiorentina at home, so have an advantage in total

other match is close, no goals so far, AZ is a better team, but that could maybe just due to fact that they need to score
as I remember, both matches last week came in overturn, who scored first, lost the match, so maybe AZ is waiting for West Ham to score, to overturn it

It is hard to say that there were not many scoring positions in the AZ Alkmaar - West ham match, which did not score in the first half. AZ Alkmaar had more possession of the ball because they were the hosts, but they did not make the best use of it.They need to attack more in the second half and get into position.Otherwise it looks like they will lose the round to West Ham.
In the other match, Fiorentina managed to take a 1-0 lead in the first half.Although they didn't play very effectively, it was important for them to score a goal in the first half.Basel started the second half fast and just brought the situation to 1-1.Since Fiorentina lost the first match 2-1 at home, if Fiorentina scores one more goal, the match will go to extra time if it ends like that.Otherwise, Fiorentina will need to score 2 goals without conceding a goal in order to get through the round without going to extra time.

Fiorentina made their sitaution complicated after conceding late goal against Basel. But I still believe in their win, 1:2 isn't something impossible to make comeback. Basel got destroyed in Swiss league by St. Gallem 1:6 last weekend, but it's not something worth to pay much attention, as they played with second squad.
AZ - West Ham. It should be interesting. Not going to predict outcome, extra time and penalties is likely to see, my pick here is BTTS.

Agree with, afterr all it's not no name clubs. AZ almost every season is playing in UEFA competitions and often giving good fight for big 3 in Eredivisie. As you said, Basel also have lot of experience, though, if they would win whole thing, it would be big upset.

I followed casperBGD without remembering where I saw it, but now I read this page and I see where I remember about Basel.

I don't think it was too weird to think about anyone in the finals now, especially not Basel as actually has a lot of champions league experience.

West ham defeated az alkmaar 2-1 at home and we can say that they are the advantageous side.We can say that they are not in a very good position in the league, but it is clear that they want success in the conference league.Az alkmaar must be upset that they are not champions and they will want to finish the season at least well.This match will be very competitive and it is difficult to predict who will go through.I still want to choose west ham.
Fiorentina had a good start except for the last few weeks, but they started to experience a drop in form, which we saw in the first game at home, where they lost to a team like Basel.Although they are heavy favorites in this match, this is an advantage for them. It won't be easy in the away game, but again the favorite is fiorentina, I expect fiorentina to advance.

Another UEFA Conference League semi-final first leg was between Fiorentina and Basel. Fiorentina lost 2-1 to Basel at their home. I was expecting Basel to play good but this was more than I expected. It was a crazy performance. I see Basel at the UEFA Conference League finals with West Ham. I'm looking forward to the second leg of the UEFA Conference League semi-finals.

I expected West Ham victory and that went smoothly even though they were 1 goal behind but they managed to win that game home!
The same things just happened in the other game, the team that scored first ended up by losing the match! This time it was shockingly Fiorentina
I expect them to play better in the second half although Basel will try to qualify with their 1 goal advantage in the aggregate..

Really seems like Basel got a bit unexpected win, I mean I did not expected something like this at all I expected Fiorentina to be winning this and shouldn't really be something like this. Basel getting that win must have made a lot of people who betted on this game to end up with a loss, that seems like the most unlikely result that nobody ever saw coming.

But the West Ham game was expected a bit, even though they are not top team in England, they are good enough for conference league obviously and they are doing as well as hoped for and should continue down that path without a doubt. I see West Ham at the finals, but I didn't expected Basel, lets see what Fiorentina will be able to do on the second game and get the win back.

Boy, those games last night? Unbelievable! Full of shocks and spins. Basel beating Fiorentina? Didn't see that coming, but what an open road to the finals now! The energy in the stadium? West Ham United are the sole Premier League representatives left in either the UEFA Europa League or UEFA Europa Conference League as the semifinal stage. West Ham to earn a 2-1 Europa Conference League semi-final first leg win over AZ Alkmaar on yesterday. AZ Alkmaar were impressive for long periods, especially in the first half, however West Ham took control of the match in the second half.

Did you actually watch in full or in parts the Fiorentina vs. Basel game? I did and I don't know whether the stadium was only so silent because I had a bad stream, but no. The atmosphere in the stadium was so bad when it was 1-1. The Fiorentina didn't play as if they wanted to score the second goal badly. I mean, usually as the home team with great fans you are on fire and desperate for the second goal. Sure you don't want to run into a stupid counter attack, but when I saw how passive Fiorentina was, that was weird.

I am part of the BSFL competition sponsored by Sportsbet and I went for the answer "West Ham and Fiorentina will NOT both win their home games". Now I was very confident when West Ham was down 0-1 that I get that question right, even though I agree that I was surprised by the high odds for Basel. But when Basel was down and in the meantime West Ham was on the brink of turning it around, I thought I will lose that one. Basel winning that games was very unexpected then. I tuned in and watched the last 20 minutes and I wasn't even afraid that Fiorentina could score a second goal. There was one situation where the ball got deflected to the corner, but that was it. I would have expected much more from an Italian home team when the game is tied and the final in the Conference League is at stake.

I don’t have any allegiance to them but I was glad to see West Ham take a lead from the 1st leg. It’d be really good for them & Moyes if they could get to the final. I’d definitely want them to win the final if they got there.

Moyes was apparently just about the take Antonio off but then he scored the winner

Basel still looks as better pick to win this tournament than AZ, and both are still in competition

didn't thought that Basel will win in Italy, but it clearly opens their way to finals, Fiorentina had top of their form, and IMO Basel is closer to final
in other match, it is all opened, would be interesting to see Basel vs AZ in final, that is what this competition is about, to have underdogs lifting trophies, not top5 league teams

True that West Ham could win the game as we expected and their victory surprised us all because at the beginning they were 1 - 0 down against Alkmaar but managed to catch up in the second half by scoring 2 goals until the end of the match which made West Ham get a absolute victory for the match this first leg.
It is true that what you say is not guaranteed, but with this result at least West Ham has an aggregate advantage of 2 - 1 and can allow to win in the 2nd leg later and advance to the Final.

Fiorentina let me down because they lost to Basel.
From the start they managed to lead with 1 goal but it was very ridiculous where Basel could score 2 goals in 71 and 90+2 minutes and Fiorentina were unable to equalize to get the same aggregate.

I think nobody expected that it will be easy for West Ham - after all, AZ is very solid team, while Hammers is near to relegation zone in EPL. West Ham dominated today's game, but 2nd leg can be completely different story.
That late Basel goal is huge hit for Fiorentina and it can be complete game changer, considering that 2nd leg is played in Basel. Going to away game with negative result is big risk, even when you look more powerful than your opponent on paper.

as expected West Ham won the game, but it was not an easy game for West Ham who during the game were losing until the 67th minute when they were lucky enough to benefit from a penalty and with that the game was tied, but West Ham got lucky again in the 5th minute when they scored the second goal and with that they just needed to manage the result well until the end of the game, a fact and this is not a result that guarantees West Ham in the second leg, they were the first to concede a goal and were lucky enough to benefit from a penalty kick i.e. the opponent is strong, it should not be underestimated because they still have a chance of winning and moving on to the final

the game that, in a way, left us surprised with the result, the game between fiontentina against baseeia, fiorentina scored first, they were supposed to be able to defend the result well and leave this game with a victory, but what we saw was basel scoring a goal tie and to make matters worse, fiorentina had the misfortune of conceding a goal in the 92 + 2 minutes, it was too late for fiorentia to react, with this defeat i very much doubt that fiorentina will be able to win in the second leg, i see baseia in the final, they play better than Fiorentina, and it's a shame that Fiorentina is falling back from performance
