In my opinion Mikel Arteta took too long to include Odegaard, if Odegaard comes early in the second half maybe the score can change and Arsenal's game will improve. But behind this defeat, Arsenal must learn a lesson because they can focus more on the EPL league. In order not to break their consistency in the EPL league path which is however more expensive than UEL. Hopefully Arsenal can get the title this year

In Premier League, they learned some lessons from the past season when they lost a position in top four in last week day and now they have to apply those lessons at higher level, to avoid losing Premier League title in next 11 week days.

But that kind of goal can happen in any game and in the end Sporting didn't win by pure luck because they scored three goals out of coincidence. That one goal was enough and that is something Arsenal is to blame for. It is their job in a home game to bring themselves into a position that one spectacular goal can't kick them out of the competition.

But now that demonstrates once more that the big favorites are at threat as well in the international competitions. There is no guarantee after the group stages that you are going to face a weak opponent. Weak is relative as they all fight with everything they have in the final rounds. It is very physical.

Yesterday's Arsenal match had many controversies, and I must admit that Sporting Lisbon played very well and took advantage of the opportunity they had because Arsenal was forced to make an unexpected substitution due to the injuries of two defenders, which left Arteta very weak and with no choice but to keep the game going that way.

It was a painful match yesterday to see that arsenal allowed the game they had in their hand taken away from them by sporting. It felt like a joke when the levelling up was made and I knew penalty was nobody's game and for any body. Arsenal can only lick their wound now and get up soon. Such is the game of soccer if you don't take your chances.

Sporting Lisbon luckily beat Arsenal and they are not weak but I don't think they are strong enough. Juventus don't under estimate Europa League with their conditions in Serie A, they know that winning Europa League can help them joining Champions League next season. That is a good award for them as they nearly won't be able to get a ticket to join Champions League by their ending in Serie A. After getting a 15 points deduction, despite of their efforts recent matches, they still have big difference with top four with very small chance to end in it.

Yesterday was a function of a few poor decisions from the Manager, but most importantly, Malaise from the players. The players let themselves down and fatigue can never be the issue because that's the go to excuse. They got knocked out too early from all cup competitions and that is the worry for me and should be the worry for the Manager as this has happened too often to be a blip. However, this team this season have enough credit in the bank for me to not throw the toys out. They earned it. Yesterday has taught them a lot of lessons. 1) The Manager still has a lot of improvement to do in Man Management which includes self Management. He will need it next season when they need to compete on at least two Major fronts. They cannot get knocked out of the UCL this cheaply 2). Their players have a lot of growing up to do. That midfield clearly still needs an enforcer. Jorginho was not and will not be the answer especially against high intensity and physical sides like we played yesterday.

I didn't expect that Arsenal would be knocked out by Sporting in this round. I thought they would be able to qualify for the next round, but it turned out that they really had to stop fighting after they lost in the penalty shootout.
