Sporting cp vs Arsenal match has been very interesting, sporting has been having good time with arsenal in the past few minutes of the game and the have possessed more ball more than their rivals and with the look of things the seem not to be giving up soon, despite that arsenal form is intact we should not forget that this visiting side is also good they are ready to do anything in other to stop arsenal today so anything is possible in this match.
Anything is possible, that is true, and "anything" has happened. Arsenal is out, Sporting Lisbon are in the next round. When the 1:0 was scored for Arsenal in minute 19, i thought it was going to be an easy game today. The penalty shootout was strong, only 1 shot didnt go into the goal. The game is a good example that everything is possible, the statistics of the game on both sides are almost identical.

Two German teams are out and two Italian teams are in the next round. The teams in Italy are playing strongly in Europe this year.

For me, a draw is enough to see Manchester United through and I sense that Erik ten Hag has prepared a strategy for his team to come out with a good level of confidence.
It is difficult to expect a draw in this match because Manchester United is unlikely to drop down their attacks to win the match. Real Betis' game against Manchester United was Real Betis' first home game against an English team in last 18 years, so even if Real Betis lost 4-1 at Old Trafford the support of its fans will certainly help.

My prediction on aggregate for this match is 2-6 in favor of Manchester United, meaning I think Manchester United will win 1-2 at the Benito Villamarín. This is just a prediction, but after all Manchester United has the possibility of getting 3 goals in this away match.
As we can see the results are a bit off from what you predicted my friend. This means that Manchester United managed to get three points and managed to qualify with an aggregate of 5-1.
I initially said that one of the strategies that Pellegrini must implement is to turn off the movement of Casemiro and Rashford. And again the two players became a nightmare for the Benito Villamarin public where Casemiro became the best player and Rashford scored the only goal.

What surprised me was Arsenal who failed to qualify as the 1-1 result at the Emirates Stadium forced them to play until the extra 15:15 minutes. To no avail, referee Antonio Mateu from Spain had to decide the winner on penalties.
Maybe Arsenal are focusing on winning the Premier League Smiley

So it's a bit difficult to say Arsenal were ultimately thwarted by the mediocare team, but that's the end of the story of Arsenal's journey in the Europa League this season. Only Lol, people are even too sure that Arsenal advanced to the final this season.

I've said it was a difficult game for Arsenal because I believe Sporting will do everything to score goals. Granit Xhaka's goals were good, but Pedro Goncalves's was absolutely the best all season. Of course it was disappointing home match for Arsenal, tragic after being favorites this season to reach the final and win the Europa League. So now Arsenal only have to focus on maintaining their points advantage in the Premier League by playing well and avoiding defeat. The odds are good, but I think they will definitely be affected by the failure of the Europa League.
The match between Arsenal and Sporting was very competitive. But I couldn't believe Arsenal would lose like that. I expected Arsenal to seal victory during the game but it didn't happen. Sporting brilliantly leveled the game and took it to penalties. In the end, Sporting secured victory on penalties. This defeat is very embarrassing for Arsenal.

I agree that Arsenal were unlucky to face Sporting. Sporting played very well in the first game and played just as well in the second. But you could say they were lucky to win on penalties. But it can also be said that Arsenal is not as strong a club in the Europa League as everyone has said. Now it's even harder to pick favourites.
I guess that arteta was making very big mistake but did not put odegaard in the main squad since the first half. It's all too late when arteta was substituting him during the additional time. It has been proven that if arsenal's goal keeper is not having skill when it came to the penalty. I just try to comment on how slow the response of arsenal's goal keeper when it was trying to block sporting player's shoot in the penalty.
It seems like that if arteta was also having some bad decision-makers. that's why so many gunners were blaming him caused by he was not even trying to respect his opponent.
Arsenal shall always use the main formation started from the first minute. I don't even understand the way arteta thinks about that. Arteta was underestimating sporting CP. it's not good man.

For me it's natural, because of what Arsenal have performed so far. however, losing and winning is commonplace in football. although to be honest, I favor Arsenal in this fight. in fact, we lost. but anyway, winning and losing is commonplace in a bet. actually I had previously suspected, that Arsenal would lose this match. for some reason, if a team that competed in a crucial party experienced some problems from the start. like Tomiyasu, W.Saliba, pulled at the start of the first half, my feeling was that this team would lose. although actually this is just an assumption, and does not justify the actual facts.

But, I'm not disappointed even though the Gunners are my favorite team. after all, this defeat was not tragic. because Arteta did not play his main full starter in this match. by the way, what I didn't expect was the resistance from Sporting, they went all out to win this fight. and yes, Sporting deserve their hard work.
On the other hand, with this defeat I hope Arteta can focus more on his team to win the Domestic League trophy.

this is the result beyond many people's expectations, Arsenal this season is very good, they are the leaders of the Premier League standings, in this second leg match they are very favorite to win but in fact a surprise happened at the Emirates Stadium.
Pedro Goncalves' goal was really very spectacular, and after that goal, the mentality and enthusiasm of the Sporting CP players increased again.
That goal was spectacular and barely happens but he made it. That goal is important for Sporting Lisbon to equalize the match and avoid a collapse if they get a second conceded goal. After that, their goalkeeper made some excellent saves including ones in last minutes. In penalty shootouts, Adan made a save against Martinelly and brought Sporting to quarter finals.

I don't think that defeat is fair for Arsenal after two matches but it's football and they have to accept it, learn some lessons especially Martinelli and move on.

Quote
there is no other possibility for Arsenal except to focus on the Premier League, but I hope this defeat does not affect the mentality of the Arsenal team to prepare for the next match in the Premier League.
In Premier League, they learned some lessons from the past season when they lost a position in top four in last week day and now they have to apply those lessons at higher level, to avoid losing Premier League title in next 11 week days.

Arsenal have actually been underwhelming in the Europa league. The intensity they use for the league is differnt from that of Europa. Anybody with eyes watching them this season would know that loss was coming. They’ve been playing like they were begged to be in the competition all season. I'm disappointed but I'm happy they got out at a stage where the impact on their mentality will be minimal.
Imagine crashing out in the semis by late April with 4 points ahead. Absolutely, I don't see any reason why they shouldn't have despatched sporting across two legs. Win one fixture & the other becomes academic.

How f*cked up Arsenal was yesterday night I don't have words to describe it,they were so sure about winning from penalties that they barely managed to get there but only to find out that Sporting hit the penalties perfectly while Martinelli from Arsenal lost it and as such Arsenal was eliminated from Europa League, they are the second of the big favorites who goes out, first was Barcelona and now Arsenal,Arsenal from a much weaker opponent than Barcelona which makes them look ridiculous losing in London.

I can only imagine the number of tickets lost even during the additional time from the live betting, people most likely thought now Arsenal will win and most people I assume played live bets and some even Arsenal to qualify, all of these lost bets.

Erik Ten Hag probably won't attack too much with the advantage they currently have, and it looks like they will try to delay the game without the ambition to be able to score as many goals. This is an opportunity for Manchester United to be able to maintain the fitness of its players by not implementing high-tempo games. They are already 4-1 up and only need a draw to go into the last 8. Manchester United has the ambition to be able to win the title this season, and the Europa League is an opportunity for them to be able to do that.
You are right, match statistics prove it. I didn't watch Real Betis' game against Manchester United, but I tend to be interested in Arsenal's game against Sporting. Manchester United qualified 1-5 on aggregate to the quarter-finals and became the only Premier League team to reach this round after Arsenal lost on penalties from Sporting.

Now Manchester United can really be expected to win the Europa League title. They are one of the strongest teams in the quarter-finals even though we have Juventus, Roma and Sevilla. The drawing is done today, I hope there are some big match in the quarter-finals.
Unfortunately I didn't see Arsenal's match against Sporting cp which reportedly ended in penalties and Arsenal failed to advance to the quarter-finals, and I prefer to watch Real Betis against Manchester United.
The reason is, both teams played full of drama and there were many violations throughout the match which made me interested to watch it, and finally Manchester United was able to score 1 goal in the 56th minute through Marcus Rashford until the end of the match.
and in the quarter-finals Manchester United and Juventus are the usual teams competing in the UCL, but this season the two must be in different conditions in the Europa League.
and it looks like these two teams will be the favorites to win the Europa League this season. The reasons are clear, the history and player material of both teams strongly support this and I hope that Manchester United and Juventus meet in the Europa League final and it will be a very interesting game.

Arsenal was last night ousted from the UEFA Europa League by Sporting in a match that they put up a good performance and that's because Sporting gave us similar display but with greater determination and unperturbed resilience and that stunning equalizer summed up how eager they were to win the tie.

Arsenal are are not gonna be happy with the result but their feeling with the result of the match isn't gonna stop Sporting's glory of been the better side of that match.
Arsenal still has a good season to protect and that's by going on to win the premier league and now that they're out of the Europa League is an added advantage

Arsenal officials focused more on EPL than they did on Europa league, and the league didn't allow them enough time to prepare for their next matches, expecially today's game. It's good they lost the match, though the players performance were top notch but luck wasn't on their side. A lot of people predicted Arsenal to lose the penalty shoot out and it happened, personally I thought Arsenal would win the game. Sporting officials on the other hand looked confident and felt no pressure. Arsenal team had pressure written all over them, which wasn't a good sign for the team. The game was interesting, and tiring during the extra time, players made bad touches and missed lots of opportunities. Thumbs up for Sporting team, as they proceed to the next round.
Arteta didn't start majority of his key players is another factor that contributed to their poor start, however when some of their key players were later introduced into the match they indeed changed the match, though Sporting Lisbon is equally a formidable side and played brilliantly well and rewarded with a long range shot which passed Ramsdale as their equalizer, unfortunately Arsenal were unlucky in the penalty shoot out, now that they are out of Europa league they should pay more attention to winning the EPL trophy and will aslo qualify for UCL next season.

Truly, sporting team tightened up their game after scoring the first goal, even during the extra times sporting played more of defense than attack. Arsenal officials made a mistake of adding the benched key players, I think out of pressure they were introduced into the game, the previous players that first scored the goal would have kept sporting at bay till the game ends. Those key players didn't understand the game completely because they didn't train for that particular game. That's why all they did was change the game without scoring any goal. Saga was not in form and other key players that later joined the game. They missed to shoot some ball that would have led them to the next round of the game. Well, lets see how good they'll play in the premier league now that they have lots of time to train for the premier league.

I completely agree with you up to that point where Arsenal scored an early goal in the 19th minute. To be honest I thought that that goal is the opener to the next round in the Europa League because the set up was perfect for Arsenal. Take the lead in their home stadium, concentrate on the defense and wait for their chances with fast counter attacks and their strong offense with the people in the stadium in the back.

But Sporting stayed strong enough and was patiently waiting for their chance. A second goal would have been the end for them, but this way they could keep believing in themselves and then in overtime they knew that both is fine, either to score a goal or to take it to the penalties. A great achievement for Sporting that deserves respect.

I've always had a bit of confidence in Arsenal because I was playing at home but after Xhaka scored a goal the goals actually didn't add up anymore and what was even better was that Sporting CP were able to do their bidding so the game became intense in the first half.

It was in the second half that a spectacular goal was scored by Pedro Goncalves. I didn't expect this to happen because the Arsenal goalkeeper was still in the penalty area, so the shot went perfectly into Arsenal's goal and became a long-range goal.

After that, Sporting CP was even more motivated, they had many chances, but in the end they failed, so the match went into extra round and ended in a penalty shootout.

Unlucky fate Martinelli's shot was able to be pushed aside by the Sporting CP goalkeeper while the Sporting CP players carried out the penalty task perfectly and this was clearly a dramatic victory and Arsenal had to be silent at home.
It's surprising Arsenal lose in penalties to Sporting cp. Penalties are always like that the best shooter wins. And yesterday was not for Arsenal. I think Arsenal has to focus more on the premier league, it's obvious they can't win any trophy aside the English premier league their topping now. Let them forget about anything other cup now. And give their best for the league title

Manchester United vs Real betis was a boring game for me. I expected Real Betis to try to get goals and fight to remain in the Champions league but obviously Manchester United are just too strong for them and United won in the second leg to seal their place in the next rounds of the tournament. Arsenal’s game was very exiting to watch, I enjoyed every bit of it, Porto came on strong and played beautifully. The penalty shootout made the match more dramatic.
You must have meant Sporting, because Porto played Inter in the Champions League, I think.

Manchester went to the next stage in the last game when they won 4:1 and now MU played to prevent Betis scoring more than three, controlled the game and Betis even though they tried, but against such a Manchester could not do anything and on top of that also lost the game at home.
So all in all a logical victory for Manchester, who probably decided to concentrate on the Europa League, since it is impossible to fight for the championship in the English Premier League.

Arteta was the error in his team selection. Immediately, I saw the lineup, I said they were out of the tournament. I don't blame any of the players but rather Arteta you can't underestimate a team twice. Some people had already qualified but still brought in their winning eleven and Arteta decided to bench theirs, what shall he say when they lose the premier league? Let’s hope it's not a slippery slope as we have seen before, they must keep focused.

Arteta was taking a big gamble by benched odegaard while he has become the center for arsenal. Tomiyasu and saliba were injured during the match against sporting lisbon. This is actually a very good news for all of manchester city players caused by they were main backs from arsenal.

Im so glad that arsenal wa losing against sporting and losing two important backs at the same time. there's no better thing other than seeing arsenal to go out from europa league.
EPL is the only target now without some important backs. That will make the situation even more difficult for arsenal. City will take the lead of EPL soon. Gogogo manchester city. You will be winning trophy again for this season.

 Cheesy
A bit surprised to see that how sporting was able forcing arsenal to play draw and go to the penalty.
