Daniele De Rossi since he became the manager of Roma have done exceptionally well for the club and if we should analyze how impressive his results have been since he became the manager of AS Roma, I think it's safe to say that AC Milan have a mountain to climb if they really want to get past Roma in the quarter finals of the UEFA Europa League competition. AC Milan without doubt have a better record in Europe against their Italian counterparts but football isn't decided by the history of a club but how well their players can play at the moment.

I agree with what you said, De Rossi has brought renewal to Roma overall style of play today, which is very different from when Mourinho was head coach. De Rossi managed to find a strategy that suited the depth of the squad he had, so that he could bring out the best potential from each of his players. He understands the club well thanks to his experience serving there.

Mourinho tactics were too defensive, not balanced with a solid defensive line, therefore they failed to become a strong team. Mourinho hopes to implement a defensive strategy at Roma, where he has had success when coaching Inter and Chelsea. There Mourinho had a number of the best defenders in his lineup, while in Rome everything was different, which is why Mourinho seemed to fail.

Meanwhile, De Rossi saw this weakness and made strategic changes, attacking more aggressively and dominating possession of the ball. This has proven to make it easier for Roma to win matches, and all of its players can more freely unleash their full potential. De Rossi managed to see Roma weaknesses, then turned them into strengths so that Roma managed to appear consistent.

I don't think you would say the same thing as today when Mourinho won the Conference League for the first time for Roma and indeed we are too easy to forget Mourinho's services to Roma after the sacking, although in fact Roma's dismissal of Mourinho was not based on Roma's performance in league, but none other than because of the bad relationship between Mourinho and the owner of Roma at that time.

Milan's the favorite here. They're the better team on paper. Pioli's done a fantastic job, those guys know what they're doing. But you know me, I always think big, and Im not discounting Roma. De Rossi, the guy's a legend, but he's new to this coaching thing. Still, he's fired up that team, you can feel it.

Maybe they're not as polished as Milan, but Rome wasnt built in a day, right? They've got that fighting spirit, that underdog mentality. Sometimes, that's more powerful than experience. Milan might be more talented, but Roma wants this win more. Never underestimate a hungry team.

The EPL is competitive too and so focus should be put in it but the UEL trophy to me would actually have more worth than the EPL. The UEL journey may not necessarily be stressful for them as Liverpool tends to be better than the teams in the tournament, their tough counterpart will definitely be Leverkusen because they've had more or less same domestic league results as Liverpool and the team is everly eager to strive to win games and they're aiming for the trophy. It's good that the both of them are in the same condition and then also have the same goal and target in the domestic and continental tournaments too.

 I believe that Liverpool has everything it takes to be champions in this season's UEL, their only challenge may be Leverkusen though but they're definitely up for a competitive game. They've got the players and skills with both teams having the same goal and vision ahead of the competitions too. They're the two strongest and toughest team in the contest and I won't be surprised if they conquer all their opponents till the final stage.

 In the Europa League, there's been top contending teams from the start till the current stage of the contest. Even though days back, the playoffs stage was concluded and there we saw few teams earn advancement tickets. Well from the beginning of the tournament, we know that it'll only be the tough teams that'd survive. Also predicting the winner this season would be hard as there are a number of tough teams to pick from.

 The highest we can do is to just analyze these teams based on their overtime performances this season and bringing that in the picture, the highest probable winner would be Leverkusen, then Liverpool and any other team behind. In essence it's safe to say that if the draws are favourable, then Liverpool would battle with Leverkusen in the final game of the tournament. For me, I'll really love to see the heated game between Leverkusen and Liverpool in the UEL soon though and I have a feeling they'd be made to play against themselves.

I believe that De Rossi's Roma would stand more chance against Milan. They failed with Mourinho against them. They lost twice in their domestic league. However while there is good progress in Roma football I'm more expectant from them. Because above all else they have started to play an effective attacking-oriented game. 

This was what Roma needed. Mourinho was just placing obstacles ahead of Roma because of his boring defensive strategies. Roma aren't a good defense team. We must have all understood it so far. They need to play more attacking to balance themselves.

Milan are still a tough opponent but Roma have more chance to advance after some important changes made by De Rossi.

But interestingly, last season there were also many candidates for strong teams or favorite teams in the European League who failed to go further. For example Arsenal, Man United and Barcelona.
