I don't doubt how consistent Bayer Leverkusen is in every match, they play well and solidly. starting from the defense line, midfielders and their front line. Xavi Alonso's squad played very competitively despite the limitations of its players. However, under his tactical and strategic guidance, Leverkusen played with high performance. not just Okoh Boniface, who has always been Xabi's mainstay. However, there are other players who are quite productive, such as Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Primpong, Jonas Hotmann and other players. which means, Xabi Alonso allows his players to score goals if they have the opportunity. so, they didn't just target Okoh Boniface as Target Man.
In its 13 matches in domestic competition, Leverkusen was able to score 38 goals. In the Europa League, they scored 14 goals and conceded only 2 goals. They have scored 15 points, even though Alonso does not always play his full core squad. Of course, Leverkusen already has a ticket to qualify for the next round. they just wait, which team will be their opponent. and what is certain is that Xabi has brought dramatic changes to Bayer Leverkusen since he took charge of this team.
Honestly, I like the style of play they display. since the start of this thread, I have consistently favored Leverkusen. However, I am also well aware that along the way, it is not impossible for Leverkusen to experience problems and perhaps even be eliminated in the next phase. However, based on the favorite team in the Europa League, it is clear that I side with Xabi Alonso's squad with what they displayed and presented for us to enjoy football. I will just enjoy every match they play, especially the crucial matches. Regarding trophies, there are still lots of matches to be played so let's just keep up.
Going forward, I think Leverkusen will be one team that are considered favorites for most titles because even when you check their form both in Germany and across Europe where they rest most player, they still perform incredibly. Yes, they could bag the Bundesliga but they’ve got to maintain consistency even when most of their players will head to AFCON by January, they’ve got to keep the wins coming and stealing 3 points, then we can see them as title winners.
