Currently, the opportunities are still very equal between one team and another in the European League, but when we look at the strengths of each team, of course there are many people who do not doubt the quality of the players that Liverpool has. However, we also shouldn't forget about the strength that Leverkusen currently has because in general the players at Leverkusen are still quite united and enthusiastic in fighting for victory in whatever league they play in this season.
It cannot be denied that Leverkusen's performance this season has really improved drastically, even becoming top of the Bundesliga standings. So, it is not surprising that Leverkusen is also one of the favorite clubs to hold the Europe League title, apart from Liverpool and also several other big clubs. So, the competition will be much tougher here. Moreover, several big clubs from UCL also have to continue to compete, although only a few can be said to be able to compete quite well. So, I really can't wait for this Europe League to take place.

Milan are a very unpredictable team this season. Their Champions League performance is a good example for that. And I can't say they are very good at maintaining a title race in the Serie A either.  Sad
Their performance this season has really dropped and is very sad. From being the top club in their league, Milan was even able to enter the semi-finals of the UCL last season, but currently, Milan is a very ordinary club and its performance is actually decreasing. Luckily they still have a chance to be in the European League after they failed in the UCL.

I really remember Alonso's words when interviewed, he doesn't expect Leverkusen to win any trophies (Bundesliga or European League) but he really hopes that in every match that Leverkusen plays, they will perform optimally and come out as winners. I think Leverkusen really haven't been beaten since this season's European League started, that's really an extraordinary achievement and will definitely make people not believe in that achievement. Having Alonso in the team is luck for Leverkusen, Leverkusen is a candidate team to win the European League this season.
That speach was a subtile way of saying they are going to win the league titles by the end of the season because if they succeed in winning all their games they are definitely going to win the league title because they will be having all the points and will be above every other team on the league table if they happen to win all the games by the end of the season.

Xabi has been very instrumental in the progress of Bayern Leverkusen this season and I'm very optimistic that he will win a trophy by the end of this season as that has always been the dream of every and any coach to win a trophy by the end of a season because not only will it be an achievement but will also go a long way in his career for setting the records so I'm sure he has got such dream even if he hasn't openly stated it or made it known probably because it's his first time as a coach and he wouldn't want to make others feel like he is making too much of an attempt already he rather wants to leave a message which I think is the best thing to do.
That's true, Xabi tries not to be arrogant about their current performance, and I think the way he conveys this opinion is very diplomatic for every listener to interpret. As a manager, apart from focusing on the development of his squad, Xabi is also required to manage the players self confidence well, so that they don't get too big headed when they receive praise that makes them complacent.

I think that in the European League, Leverkusen status as the favorite team to win is unshakeable, because we have seen their impressive performance by being unbeaten so far. However, this cannot be a complete reference for the future, because the challenges faced by Xabi and his fleet will continue to increase as time goes by.

Apart from all that, Xabi hot hand in polishing Leverkusen this season deserves praise, and I think many people are now waiting for their next action in the round of 16. On the other hand, now many people dare to bet on their winnings, and I think it is very profitable.

These two teams are really being taken into account this season because both Leverkusen and Liverpool are equally strong this season. If we look at their performance in the domestic league, we can see that both teams are leading the standings. Even Leverkusen have so far not lost in the Bundesliga and also in the European league they have been able to get full points in every match they have played. So, we have to see how consistent Xabi Alonso and Jurgen Kloop are in bringing their team to go far in the European league this season.

Liverpool does have better quality players compared to Leverkusen because we know that Salah is the best player at the moment and he has quite good skills compared to other players in the European league this season. Thus, Liverpool may have a better chance of winning the title compared to Leverkusen this season.

Milan are a very unpredictable team this season. Their Champions League performance is a good example for that. And I can't say they are very good at maintaining a title race in the Serie A either.  Sad

But when it comes to Roma I think that they have more potential in the Europa League. I'm saying this depending on their last performances in the Europa Conference League and Europa League in the recent seasons. They are really a competitive team in these tournaments. They reached the finale with Mourinho in the Europa League last year and it wouldn't be surprising to see them there again this year.
The fact that AC Milan where able to convincingly best a strong team like Paris Saint Germaine this season tells how good they play on their days and that's why I don't think it's a good idea to write them off in this season's UEFA Europa League competition. I think they have all it takes to have a good campaign in the competition.

Talking about AS Roma, the Italian Serie A club is been coached by a manager that's very experienced when it comes to European football and that I think gives them a slight edge over other teams in the competition. Jose Mourinho was able to guide them to the final of the competition last season before they were beaten by Seville in the final and I think if they continue to perform to their full strength, they can still reach the final again this season.

As long as we don't see any surprise the winner of the Europa League title would be one of Liverpool and Leverkusen. I consider teams like Milan, Roma having less chance than them because none of their performances are convincing enough to be able to beat any of Liverpool - Leverkusen duo. Milan and Roma are both are inconsistent teams for now.

I wish to see a Liverpool - Leverkusen finale but we will see. It would be the closest kind of a matchup to a Champions League finale considering the current teams in the Europa League. At least we can watch a game with high tempo and hopefully many goals in it.   Smiley

If it's that way then, Liverpool would be winners of this Competition because Jurgen Klopp came to the finals of this exact Competition and got knocked as well fvcked hard in this Competition in the finals by Unai Emery and Sevilla that season.

A lot of transformation and development can go on and  Milan, Roma and Marseille can all see a rise in how they play. The Europa League Competition is currently open for anyone to win. I don't even think I can pick a side.
I'd love Bayern Leverkusen to win a trophy though this season and it'll make so much sense it it's also the Bundesliga League Competition.
Bayern Munich has dominated for too long and it needs to come to an end.

Liverpool may experience a little set back when one of their key player will be leaving for the African cup of nations, he happens to be that one person who gives their game a different effect when he's present but then I'm hoping Liverpool will get an adaptive mechanism to solving that as it may in a way affect their chances at the Europa.

Leverkusen may use that opportunity to further strengthen their dominance this season in the Europa and this doesn't mean I'm trying to underestimate Liverpool but then I'm looking at possible chances of such happening if things goes otherwise, regardless of such, it will be really foolish for Leverkusen or AC Milan to undermine Liverpool because if they do then they may be giving more edge to Liverpool to winning the league unknowingly to them because Liverpool knowing that they are already behind will do much to get ahead.

It is worse that what you mentioned here. It is not only one or two of their key players. Leverkusen is quite unlucky about all the players that have to leave the team for the African Cup. I think it is a handful of players, maybe five or six and all of them are important. This is really not the best timing for Leverkusen as they have had a wild ride during the first half of the season. I am curious to see how Leverkusen will cope with this situation, but if they can handle this, I think they are ready to handle all the problems they could be facing during the season.

I like your opinion on this because in reality Milan and Roma do not have as strong a performance as Liverpool and Leverkusen even though we are too early to speculate but we are here to say about the fact that Milan and Roma's chances are very small if they only use ordinary performance because of Liverpool and Leverkusen is currently in a very strong condition and if they really want to compete with these two strongest clubs, Roma or Milan should show a slightly more consistent performance but it is difficult to appear consistent even in the domestic league. These two clubs do not have impressive achievements in contrast to Leverkusen and Liverpool, who are currently in first place in the domestic league points table, although only temporarily, at least these two clubs have shown that they deserve the title at UEL because they have performed quite strongly and are recognized by most people around the world.

If you look at the current point difference, it is only 4 points behind. I think it's only a matter of time until Munich returns to chasing these points and even becomes champion. I don't doubt the performance of Leverkusen and Xabi Alonso, but we are aware that Munich is truly a candidate to win number one in the Bundesliga. And when it comes to the European league, I think everyone agrees that many people talk about Liverpool's best chance of becoming champions. This is not who the champion is, but this is who has the greatest chance of becoming champion.

They are indeed 4 points behind, but they still have 1 match ahead of Leverkusen, assuming they can win that 1 match, then they will reduce the gap to 1 point, it is a very tight distance that can change in just 1 match.
I have no doubt that Bayern Munich will be able to continue to press and overshadow Leverkusen, but I still have concerns about Leverkusen. Not underestimating them, because the closer to the end of the season, the greater the pressure they will get. Many clubs can initially perform promisingly but when towards the end of the season they lose their balance so that repeatedly swallow unsatisfactory results and they fail to be the best.

I don't have any evidence I could provide to support you that Spanish clubs tend to do well because they make UEL a priority. I have no idea how you found that out. Maybe you talked to some coaches from La Liga or some players, but I think it has nothing to do with making UEL their priority.
Looking at some of the current data, actually in my opinion when talking about the championship problem it is quite evenly distributed, it's just that for the most trophy holders of course it belongs to Spain, especially for the last 2 decades because from the period starting from 2006 to 2023 (last season) Sevilla is the club that gets the most Europa League trophies with 7 trophies coupled with 3 consecutive championships in 2014-2016 making the La Liga club's record in the Europa League not trivial and not directly at this time Spain still dominates in the acquisition of trophies when talking about competitions in the Champions League and Europa League because of the trophies that are difficult to win. In 2014-2016, the La Liga club's record in the Europa League cannot be said to be trivial and indirectly at this time Spain still dominates in the acquisition of trophies when talking about competitions in the Champions League and Europa League because of the trophies that are difficult to compete with Sevilla for the Europa League and Madrid for the Champions League.
Seven Europa League titles since 2006 is a remarkable run for Sevilla. It shows Spanish clubs' quality and consistency in these events. Given the level of competition in the Champions League, I think Real Madrid's results are more significant. Spanish clubs excel in UEFA competitions, but they also do well in domestic leagues. Spanish clubs are strong because they balance home and European competitions.

This season, Sevilla's absence from the Europa League opens up the field for other teams. Liverpool and Leverkusen, who have shown promise in the Premier League and Bundesliga, are on my radar. Leverkusen may regard the Europa League as their best chance of winning this season. Liverpool is another great candidate due to their consistency. It will be intriguing to see if any playoff teams can upset.

For the time being, we can see that the biggest powers in the European League are owned by Liverpool and Leverkusen. However, both of them are currently the strongest teams in the European League. Even in the Domestic League, both of them are at the top of the standings. no one would doubt either of them.
Other considerations to become competitors are Roma and Milan. both are unstable, but for the Europa League, I'm sure there will be more efforts. Moreover, Roma failed to qualify because they couldn't be at the top in the group phase. and Milan failed because they could not compete in the Champions League. The quality of both is not bad and could be a threat to Liverpool and Leverkusen.

But a match is never a comparison of two teams being written on a piece of paper next to each other and then see who is going to win. It depends on the shape they are in on that day, which of the players can reach their maximum performance level, who is available at all because of injuries or health deficits otherwise, luck plays an important part in those games, too.

If it was the comparison on paper only, Manchester City would have won five Champions League titles by now and Sevilla would have won less Europa League titles by now.

Yes, La Liga clubs do have a higher winning mentality, but even so, other clubs still have a big chance if they are able to compete more impressively in the Champions League and European League match. But last season, unfortunately, Real Madrid had to be eliminated earlier in the past and did not reach the final so that the Champions League trophy was won by the Premier League club Manchester City, Sevilla this season was also eliminated in the Champions League and in the Europa League so the opportunity to win the trophy may be between the Premier League club and the Bundesliga club while the Laliga club is taking part in the competition Only Villareal managed to qualify for the round of 16, but it seems like this club is not as much of a favorite as Liverpool and Leverkusen even though this club also played quite well in the group stage.

Leverkusen and Liverpool will certainly have a bigger chances in the European league and they will also focus on competing there to compete for the European League title, but they also have to focused on the domestic league in order to achieve good result too and next season they can compete in the Champions League, not in the European league.
The Europa League has been favorite for the Spanish Club especially Sevilla but this time we’ve more of English and Germal clubs remaining in the competition. Liverpool and Leverkusen seems favorite and will be more focused on winning the UEL so that they can add to their title collections because they’re both doing well domestically. We also have the likes of Westham from England who’re doing well in the UEL but might not go far.

So this season I think either England or Germany will take home the UEL and I don’t think we’ll have anything short of this. My bet is on Leverkusen, despite the fact that they'll face a big competition from Liverpool and the rest of some too European teams that are still in the competition but I really want them to win the UEL title cause they've really maintained a good record, not only in the UEL but also in other competitions that they're still involved in.

It would also be nice to see the Liverpool - Bayer Leverkusen pair in the semi-finals. Two top matches are better than one, right? I would like Roma to take the Europa League at the second attempt, but I don’t even know who their opponent should be for the game to be interesting - Mourinho prefers rational football and it is rarely spectacular. Although the game between Roma and Liverpool would probably be good as a final, Liverpool would try to resolve the issue in regular time, and Roma would wait for a penalty shootout  Grin

Same with you Cheesy even though Leverkusen and Xabi are still in a very extraordinary condition but of course in this case we cannot exaggerate at this time as if Leverkusen has become the champion because after all, at this time the situation of Leverkusen and Bayern is still in competition so we cannot exaggerate it..

When it comes to competition in the Bundesliga everything will remain the same because after all Bayern are still Bayern with their dominance that is very strong and difficult to stop but at this time Xabi and Leverkusen will certainly try their best so that they can make a breakthrough so that the competition becomes more interesting.
For the Europa League now they just have to wait for how the play offs are over because after all this is an advantage for those who are at the top of the standings.

My big hope actually lies in the Europa League. Although we realize there are several other strong clubs and of course Liverpool who dominate in terms of probability but on the other hand my hope for a surprise is actually in Leverkusen at this time.
We've seen the surprise Frankfurt gave us before and I want the same for Leverkusen this season especially since the situation is still quite favorable for them.

I don't think there's anyone who's still in doubt over the capability of the Bayer Leverkusen team and I won't be surprised if the go on to win the Europa League trophy
Seeing what they have done so far how to perform well in all competitions there is no longer any doubt but becoming European league champions is certainly still a question whether they will be able to do it, because this is a tournament that this season the competition is very tight, especially Bayer Leverkusen still have to concentrate on the Bundesliga because their position is still closely followed by Bayern Munich.
Hoping that the performances they are showing now continue until the end of the season, both in the Bundesliga and even more so in this competition, because often the team that occasionally in one season can appear impressive suddenly experiences an unexpected decline so that it fails in all competitions, but so far things like that are not seen in Bayer Leverkusen, Xabi Alonso is quite good at bringing his squad, and for the European league they have not found a worthy opponent in my opinion, maybe in the next rounds there will be resistance that can threaten them here.

The Leverkusen team has been in great form this season. They played 16 matches in the Bundesliga and performed in 6 matches in the Europa League. And so far this team is undefeated.
From this it can be assumed that Xabi Alonso has managed to turn his squad into a very strong one. And since Leverkusen is not dependent on any particular player. So Leverkusen team is not facing major problems even though 2/1 players of the squad are facing injuries.
Liverpool, Leverkusen, Liverpool and Roma all seem to be the strongest teams in the Europa League. And only one of these four teams is expected to win the title. So this season, the European league has become quite crowded. It is difficult to say which team will ultimately be able to maintain consistency and win the title.
