It was an unexpected season where top clubs like Leverkusen, Liverpool, Milan or Roma went home without winning the title and instead it was an underdog team like Atalanta who managed to win the European League title for this season. I'm curious what will happen next season considering there will be new entrants coming from various parts of the European competition.
That is why next season will going to be a tough tournament, because all those teams will not allow those mistakes that happened for Atalanta team to lift the trophy to happen again, because they will prepare well to ensure they qualify for final game to make their fans happy next season.

Bayer Leverkusen will never forget this tournament, because they did everything possible to remain unbeatable but they made little mistakes that made them to lose the trophy this season, which is a big regret to the team.

Liverpool and Roma tried their best to win the trophy, but their preparation was very little compared to Bayer Leverkusen and Atalanta that was the major teams people where expecting to win the trophy, and it happened for the favor of Atalanta.

We have witnessed several elite teams putting in their best but everything got tied up and watching them eliminated. Atalanta are Europa League Champions and trust me when I say, it was not an easy run for them. Gli Orobici I Nerazzurri put all attention in Europa League and their rival in the final was absolutely fierce and unbeaten. Bayer Leverkusen was frustrated to lose 3 nil against Atalanta in the Europa League final, scattered plans for them. The Europa League matches comes with surprising game outcome.

It would be inappropriate for anyone to blame a coach like Xabi Alonso who has looked after and brought the Leverkusen team to an even more extraordinary level this season. Because Leverkusen has also succeeded in winning two trophies this season even though they lost at the wrong time in the final match of the Europa League this season. And I think people who are willing to blame Xabi Alonso just because Leverkusen lost the final match are people who don't understand the pressure that Xabi Alonso is under and maybe also don't understand how football works for all teams including Leverkusen.
It doesn't make sense if there are people who blame Xabi Alonso. People can feel unsatisfied with Xabi Alonso because Leverkusen failed to win Europa league trophy. But it is true that Leverkusen could win 2 trophies in German domestic competition (Bundesliga trophy and DFB Pokal trophy). Leverkusen even made a record in domestic competition this season, they are unbeaten in the whole season.

For the Europa League trophy, Leverkusen may be unlucky because they choose the wrong strategy. It will be a good lesson for Xabi Alonso and Leverkusen players, they must always remember to choose the right players on the starting lineup. In the final Europa league this season, Xabi Alonso used inappropriate starting lineup. So, the game of Leverkusen can't be effective, they got a difficulty to score goals.

I do not understand. Why people are going to be actually not satisfied with Alonso? He has brought a club to bring in the Bundesliga title Which was absolutely unexpected. Literally, nobody expected them to win the Bundesliga title. And they were even able to get to the Europa League final. They have also been able to win the DFB Pokal. After all this, people are still not satisfied with him? This is just unbelievable.

Honestly, people are always going to cry and ask for better. Those who are actually crying literally have no idea about how to manage a team and how hard it is actually to bring in such good results with a squad like that is unbelievable. I mean dethroning the Bundesliga team which has been able to win the Bundesliga title for 11 years is an achievement in itself.

One of the nice things about cup matches is that the team that is not the favorite has a better chance of winning in a cup match than in a normal match. I think even teams established with small budgets in football have a very high chance in such tournaments. Football is a game where those who make mistakes lose, and therefore no matter how good a team you form, you can lose the match with only 1 goal. We have all seen and experienced that favorite teams do not always win the cup.

Bayer Leverkusen ended its great season without winning the European cup. They were far from expectations in the final match and Atalanta played good football and beat a team like Bayer Leverkusen.

Liverpool and Roma surprised the audience with their performance this season, but they will be more successful next season.

Nobody thought of Atalanta in the beginning of the league because we believe more in big clubs. Liverpool was doing perfectly OK in EPL, and Leverkusen was winning their matches and this was what made most people to see these two clubs as favorites. Atalanta was in Seria A and nobody will look up to them, because Roma is there and most people will even pick Roma instead of Atalanta.

However, this is football and we can only give our predictions on who will win the league but we cannot come to conclusion, because it is hard to predict the future since there will be some unforseen circumstances that will hinder our predictions from coming true due to natural phenomenon. Football is full of surprises and that is why no one can come to conclusion and beat his chest on his prediction coming true. Atalanta murdered the season, and I don't think I would love to predict who will be the winner of next season, until it competition starts.
Yeah true, Atalanta wasn't really considered as a threat to many of the teams there. Liverpool and Leverkusen facing each other at the finals looked like more likely. If Liverpool beat Atalanta, then the finals would probably be Liverpool vs Leverkusen and to be fair that would have been an expected finals as well, nothing shocking.

Atalanta not only managed to beat Liverpool to go to finals, but they also managed to beat Leverkusen to keep their run going as well. That definitely wasn't something they expected at all, feels like it is going to be something that did not really shock anyone. I personally believe that they are going to be quite good at the league next season as well, they were good, I think they will be even better.

The high expectation on Leverkusen made people putting blame on Alonso for the loss. I think it's an expression of disappointment that makes people find anyone to put the blame on. I think it's indeed unfair to blame Alonso when he was under his own pressure to stay in unbeaten record that forces himself pushing the limit on his team which cause mentally fatigue in the Europa League final.

Why look for scapegoats when losing because after all we are not someone who should praise when a club wins and should berate when they lose considering they also try well in a match.
It's true that losing to Atalanta put a bit of a damper on Leverkusen's plans but that doesn't mean that one defeat wipes out all the positive trends and victories that have come before.

Xabi has done his job very well and in this case we should not only look at one match against Atalanta to undermine Xabi because after all, the record of 51 matches without losing and the 2 trophies they managed to bring this season in the DFB and Bundesliga and the series of records or achievements that Xabi got in this season with Leverkusen it already makes us have to realize that he deserves to be praised and one defeat even though it is a little upsetting but it cannot erase the series of achievements that have.

Truly Bayern Leverkusen strategy on that final was very bad because there performance on that match was nothing like there performance on there local league perhaps it could be that they underestimated Atalanta a lot on that match that's why they got what they did not expected on that match, though considering Bayern Leverkusen performance on there league most people were very certain that the Europa League belongs to them but it was really unfortunate for them, so actually Xabi Alonso has learned his lesson because he will never allow his boys to look down on other clubs again on there next season matches, however is good that they managed to win there local league instead of ending the season without achieving any trophy.

Atalanta played with a defensive strategy and appeared aggressive by committing more fouls against their opponents who were trying to build dangerous attacks. This kind of strategy basically works in some games, but not in many games. Xabi Alonso doesn't have much experience dealing with problems like that in important matches like finals, so he will definitely have difficulty not conceding goals while he really wants his team to score goals.

Of course, from these match statistics, we can learn that not all teams that are able to dominate possession of the ball and have good passing accuracy are able to score goals to win the match. Sometimes a good strategy in many matches will also be broken by a team that only defends and takes advantage of counter attacks.

They weren't defensive in my opinion, they man marked Bayern Leverkusen players man to man all throughout the game. Same way they defended was the same way they attacked, thanks to them goalkeeper who did some brilliant and excellent goalkeeping duty for the club that night.
Another thing was that they was completely poor they Bayern Leverkusen at defending and the goalkeeper also didn't help matters, two goals scored are goals I feel like he should have done well to catch or save.

Bayern Leverkusen weren't really possessive of the game, Atalanta made it difficult for them to even operate in the midfied. Jeremy Frimpong did well to cause some creativity from the right side of the wing but these Atalanta worked together to fix shiit up

Atalanta didn't play defensively, they preferred to play a tough game. This style of play made the opponent unable to play the passing game as they wanted. After scoring the goal, they started to play more relaxed. They didn't get the pressure they expected from their opponents and this led to a more relaxed game.

Leverkusen tried to dominate the game but failed to do so for most of the match. They conceded an unexpected goal and couldn't recover. Leverkusen's winning streak was definitely coming to an end and it ended in this game.
Atalanta players were looking with full strength and their confident was at the top . They were fully prepared for the win and they worked hard to win this match. I was supposing the 90 percent win of Atlanta team but they converted it to 100 percent. I think ,they are performing best in the European league and they won the final and no player of Leverkusen resist in this match. Leverkusen team were looking in great pressure because they didn't see that kind of team before.Leverkusen players should work on their strength and weaknesses, otherwise, they wouldn't win any kind of tournament.Lookman performance was very good in this match and he was prominent player in this  match.

There is certainly a feeling of dissatisfaction with the achievements of the team they support among Leverkusen fans. Of course, this is a valuable lesson for Xabi Alonso when he is in the next final match in the future, otherwise whatever he achieves will never be truly appreciated.

I personally am not a fan of Leverkusen, who this season became an impromptu team that won the Bundesliga title without defeat. Xabi is a player who is actually a former Real Madrid player who I respect, so of course I like the style of play he applies to his current team. Leverkusen is nothing compared to other teams in the Bundeliga like Dortmund and Bayern Munich, but Xabi has proven it can all be broken.
So, in a way, until the Atalanta match in the UEFA final, everyone believed that Bayern Leverkuse was invincible this season. And it happened, they lost, they only won the league championship, if they had won the UEFA cup, it would have been talked about much differently than it is now, they missed a lot of things with a single match.

The invincibility would continue and two trophies would be won. It is normal that they are now Bundesliga champions and it is considered a normal success because the expectations have increased tremendously.

Because anyway, Atalanta was also not weak at all at that moment, because Liverpool was also defeated by Atalanta. So yes, I think results like this can indeed happen because after all, in football we all realize that any result can happen, and like this is the end.
Atalanta was not a weak side but Bayer Leverkusen was the favorite in that match. They won a Liverpool that is not also in good form. Almost all Europa fans believed that the Italian side had little chance of beating Bayer. To be sincere, the outcome of the match was a surprise to many sports analysts and fans. That's the fun and intrigue of sports, unexpected happens all the time.
I never considered Atlanta as a weak team since they shock me by eliminating the whole Liverpool by defeating them at Anfield. I started to rate them high since then, and after seeing their victory over Marseille in the semifinals, I knew it will not be easy for Leverkusen in the finals, but Leverkusen on the hand didn’t look serious as they have seen how Atalanta lost to Juventus in the Copa Italia finals and how they ended in the Seria A table; but Atalanta tried by given them a shocking defeat at the end which made me very happy, not just because of Leverkusen’s loss, but the result of underrating a team that have history.

Anyone putting their blame on Xabi Alonso after the final match that was loss to Atalanta must be joking, like seriously, who does that after what he has done for the club and could only do it for them for the first time in a century since the existence of the club. He made them win the Bundesliga and has the longest unbeaten run in the history of football, it is something they should be appreciative of and not to even of think of the loss in the Europa League final. It was just a loss they incurred when everyone least expected and that doesn’t call for much alarm and blame, he should be given his accolades and not scold for a wonderful season for the club in its entirety.

Let us just be realistic, everyone has been praising Xavi Alonso right from the beginning of the season till today. We have praised him enough for being young and extraordinary this season. We have also praised him for being able to deny Bayern Munich what seems to be their birth right for more than a decade. Since the beginning of the season him and his boys  have been receiving a lot of praises. So why do you expect him not to be criticized when he lost to a less favorite club three goals without scoring one. When you do something that is deserving of praise, would actually be praised. But one and undesirable result comes, you will also be criticized. The criticism does not actually mean that Xavi Alonso is not a good coach. In general he is to me the best coach in this season and that is it because the statistics are there to judge but then he is not above mistake as I think he made a mistake in the finals.

Yes, I also can't believe that people are still blaming Xavi for his failure in the Europa League final. Perhaps, for them the perfect result is easy to get, although in reality it is really very difficult to achieve. I just don't want it to be just Bayer Leverkusen's failure in the Europa League final, then they cover up Bayer Leverkusen's success in the domestic league. I think that is a wrong judgment because of course, Bayer Leverkusen managed to be the best this season despite failing to get the Europa League trophy.
What are their reason for blaming him for the loss in the Europa League finals? Do they have any proof that it was his tactical style that caused the loss? What do they think he would have done differently in the match? A coach who lost a single game in a season shouldn't be blamed for a loss. Yeah, he lost in the most important game, but that's football.

Those people may expect too much on the success of Leverkusen in the final Europa league. They also may fail in their bets, or they are the bad fans of Leverkusen. If those people are true fans of Leverkusen, they must accept the fact that Leverkusen failed to win it. They must still respect with Leverkusen and Xabi Alonso because Leverkusen can win 2 trophies in this season. It is a great achievement, they never won 2 trophies in 1 season in the previous seasons.

I just don't want it to be just Bayer Leverkusen's failure in the Europa League final, then they cover up Bayer Leverkusen's success in the domestic league.
Actually I also expect Leverkusen to win the trophy of Europa league. But it is the fact that Leverkusen has failed to win it. And winning 2 domestic trophies, I think it is already nice achievement for Leverkusen this season. For the next season, I' curious how far Leverkusen to go in UCL matches. Will they can reach the final of UCL?  Undecided

I think that is a wrong judgment because of course, Bayer Leverkusen managed to be the best this season despite failing to get the Europa League trophy. Because anyway, Atalanta was also not weak at all at that moment, because Liverpool was also defeated by Atalanta.
I really agree with you. Just forget the trophy of Europa league! Leverkusen already finished this season with great achievement by winning 2 trophies. No one thinks that Leverkusen can be very superior in domestic competitions. Leverkusen really surprised many people that they can end the domination of Bayern Munich in German football competitions.

It has become a common thing among the football fans who have high expectation on a certain club. At Leverkusen, Xabi Alonso the most popular name, unlike at other big clubs that have big star of players which can become a scapegoat when their team underachieve something expected. Most football fans other than Leverkusen fans don't even know Leverkusen players.

The team being under pressure is something not being understood by average football fans. They only see what and how the team perform on the pitch, and blame the known players when they make mistakes or blame the coach when the team underperform and lost. I observe this kind of behavior is attached to the fans who put big bets on the lost team.

Atalanta does not have as big a chance as Liverpool or Leverkusen, that is the narrative we are building throughout the Europa League, including before the final match takes place. However, beyond everyone's predictions, it turned out that they were able to prove that they could become champions and beat Leverkusen. and even the results of the match have an influence on some people's predictions for Champions League matches. Because some people believe that this season is a season where the club that is not the favorite can win, and they attribute this to one of the European League final matches.

Atalanta succeeded in making Leverkusen's strategy not work well, they were successful when defending and they were effective when attacking, that was the key to their success in this match. and on the other hand, Leverkusen conceded so easily and even when the match had not been long, Atalanta was able to score a goal.
That's right, a team that is not the favorite like Atalanta has quite a big impact on bettors, where all possibilities in football can happen, we must be able to take experience from the final match. Of course, many did not think that Atalanta would be able to act beyond expectations, where before the match started all predictions pointed to Leverkusen.

Leverkusen looked overwhelmed when faced with a team that played with a defensive strategy and relied on counter attacks, where Xabi was more focused on implementing an attacking strategy, the result was a surprise where Leverkusen lost for the first time. For Xabi, this match will certainly be a valuable lesson for next season, and I think both teams, Atalanta and Leverkusen, deserve praise.

Leverkusen defeat really had an impact on the Champions League final match, where many people were affected by the same possibility, where Dortmund might also be able to make a surprise. However, Madrid once again succeeded in establishing themselves as kings of Europe, so that the match results went according to predictions.
