You were really close to win but it was a near miss. HJK Helsinki destroyed their opponent 3-0. Galatasaray also defeated St Johnstone with a 4-2 score. But Mura managed to beat Zalgiris away and promoted to the next round. It must be sad to lose like this. Maybe you can make up for it next time.
Yeah, really disappointed about Zalgiris loss. Especially because Mura was beatable opponent and they didn't played better. Anyway, now we move to Conference League playoff round where we meet Bodo/Glimt. I think it's stronger opponent than Mura, we played against them last year and lost 1:3, but I think it's not impossible to beat them.

@LTU_btc don’t stress too much as it often happens in these type of competition that the underdog wins it, but Zalgiris should study what went wrong and work on fixing the problem. Also you’re right they can win because I’m sure they’ll take lot of confidence from their recent victory, and that may help them win the fixture against Bodo/Glimt.

Time to bump this topic. We have 3rd qualifying round second leg games today. I made some bets for today.
Zalgiris - Mura - home win @2.40. Yes, I'm biased, but I see big value there. Zalgiris play at home and they are slightly better team IMO.
HJK - Neftci - home win @1.87
St. Johnstone - Galatasaray - away win @2.07. This one looks kinda risky, but I'm still going with it.

Well I guess not many people follow Europa League elimination games. It's still third elimination round games and we have one more play-off round before group stage. We didn't see any surprises today except Zalgiris Vilnius game, I thought they are better side overall but they lost at home and got eliminated to Slovenian side Mura. It looks like they are new team, I haven't even heard them before. They founded only nine years ago and started from third league of Slovenia to became a champion, now they are playing in Europa League elimination games. That's pretty exciting, very fast development for them. Usually we see Maribor from Slovenia but it's nice to see new teams like that. Congratulations to them for passing the third round as well.
Galatasaray odds are pretty good and I regret I didn't play for them. Even though Muslera was out I knew they can easily pass this stage because there were huge quality difference between these teams. I didn't expect that big odds in favor of Galatasaray, wish I saw it before.

@bct_ail indeed you’re right as Ronaldo and Bolt can’t be compared, but I have to admit those are insane stats for Ronaldo.

yes of course. This speed is insane. Even if he doesn't use that speed in the game, it is still a disadvantage for the opposing team. They know that he could run fast and they have to be prepared for that.

I recall that years ago, Ronaldo hired Usain Bolt to teach him to run as best as possible.

Thanks for this info. This shows that Ronaldo is working on himself to get better.

Let's talk about the Czech against England. Both teams only need a draw to qualify for the Round of 16 but I think the match between the Czechs and England will be filled with high tension. This match is allegedly going to be exciting because both teams will definitely aim for full points to secure their place in the round of 16.

England has a slight advantage as they will be playing at home (Wembley Stadium, London) but that doesn't mean they will be able to win easily against the Czechs. I think the match will end in a draw or England beat the Czech with a narrow win.

Sorry friends but this thread seems to be for european league discussion. Between clubs, not between countries. Maybe the title is almost the same UEFA EURO 2020 Discussion Thread | Current Phase: Finals in June 2021! and UEFA Europa League Discussion This is a discussion of the european league .  Grin

They play different sports and basically, it is not fair to compare an athletic who simply runs at his fastest pace without barrier, opponent or exhaustion time before with the football player who has different other things to do than simply racing.

Between running by dribbling the ball or running on the track is a different thing in my opinion, in this case besides having to run fast, of course Ronaldo must also concentrate on the ball and it's different from what was done by Usain Bolt who only focused on running as fast as possible  ;DHowever, from some existing data it shows that Ronaldo can be as fast as Bolt and that has been acknowledged by after Bolt himself in several interviews in the media.
Bolt currently has a world record of 9.58 seconds for the 100 meter run, and this record was obtained at the World Athletics Championships in Berlin in 2009 and so far no runner has been able to break it.
while Ronaldo has a record of running 10 seconds for a distance of 92 meters at a speed of 33.12 km / h when Juventus against Napoli in September 2019.
So, in my opinion, these two athletes have speeds above the average in their respective fields compared to other athletes.

I don't know which running route this refers to? Usain Bolt's speed is based on 100m. He runs 100m once and then that’s it. Football players run around 10km per game. So they cannot compared to each other. But it's nice to have the numbers.

I was just shocked when I checked numbers for top speeds that Ronaldo is at 33.6 km/h while Davies from Bayern Munich is at 35.6 km/h. I mean Ronaldo also looks incredibly fast, but that is quite the significant difference. Just how fast is Davies, damn it!

On a funny side note: Usain Bolt's top speed is 44.72 km/h, LOL! Cheesy

On the issue of Ronaldo and Messi, I think its more of a personal thing. I would stick with Ronaldo anytime any day because for me, he is a that vitality player. The one player that shines through all seasons and across leagues. He tests himself and overcomes his huddles. Thats who Ronaldo is and what a great player should look like. They are both great players for sure and I don't see any set or two players like them in the football field even for the next decade. They've both succeeded in raising the quota for what a good or best player should look like but Ronaldo remains the guy for me.
I've stopped arguing on who is the best between the two word best. The two have different playing style, body and are unique in their own ways. I will go for CR7 but that doesn't mean he's the best. I just love his fighting spirit and the ability to perform individually irrespective of the squad

Stop arguing about who is better, Ronaldo or Messi. In my opinion, these two are the best. The playstyle of both is different. The two are best in different cases. Ronaldo can't do such great dribbling as Messi. Again, Messi does not have great fitness and speed like Ronaldo.

@mv1986 I think both are equally great because each one of them have achieved records which may never be broken, and both did whatever it took to win games on their own. However there’s one key difference between them, as Ronaldo went to different clubs and won, and Messi stayed at one club only and hence the world will say Ronaldo is more better than Messi.

I agree that this factor is fundamental to define who will be better between the two.

If Messi doesn't play for another club, he will always be at a disadvantage. Because he only played for Barcelona and for the National Team
We already know how he plays for Barcelona, a team built with him in mind. But how will he be playing on other teams? In the national team he rarely has great performances, and he still hasn't managed to win any competition.

Cheesy I love dribblings without much nonsense, like dancing on the ball and stuff. Messi is very plain and simple, yet the best dribbler in the world. Show me one player who frequently goes 1 against 5 and wins. I mean really frequently.

Same for free kicks: Ronaldo does his show, spreads his legs and shows he has big balls and then? Hits the wall! Cheesy Messi one yard back, two steps, goal! No matter what the distance is to the goal.

As for the bicycle kick: please check  Youtube!

Basically, star players or top players will not achieve high achievements without support, even though Ronaldo changes clubs but the fact is that Ronaldo does not always win and still finds it difficult to continue to be a winner. This proves, top players will not guarantee an easy victory and therefore, something that allows him to achieve victory with many achievements is the long-standing cohesiveness of the team.

It is foolish to rely solely on a star player to win a team. A team consists of 11 players. If every player can perform well from his place, then the team can win or perform as expected. If a team relies on a particular player, the team's performance gradually deteriorates.
