West Ham are still one of my favourites for the Europa League title currently. However, they didn't get a very favourable result against Lyon home. It ended in a draw by 1-1 but they were still lucky to have this draw too. Because Lyon were in control completely in the second half later. And they would really have won this game too. But I still see West Ham a little closer to next round in the tournament now. Lyon are a solid team here too but I expect West Ham to make it to semi finals by beating them somehow.

By getting a red card in the 45th minute, and scoring the goal in the 52nd minute, it shows the high spirit of the West Ham players to win against Lyon
in the 1st leg. But unfortunately as you said in the second half Lyon dominated the match, because Lyon took advantage of their larger number of
players, Lyon finally scored a goal in the 66th minute and made the score 1-1. But for West Ham to be given appreciation they can maintain a draw,
even though they lost one player for getting a red card. Hopefully West Ham can show a better performance in the second leg, I agree with you that
West Ham will probably beat Lyon in the second leg and qualify for the Semifinals. But when it comes to winning the Europa League trophy
I prefer Barcelona to West Ham, because after all I think Barcelona's performance is better than West Ham.

The rematches are going to be quite interesting for some matchups especially. For example, we all must be wondering what Barcelona will do against Frankfurt in Camp Nou. Because their performance in the first leg was quite poor actually. We didn't see the same Barcelona in the La Liga. I saw them like they didn't care about it much. But I hope to see them competing well in their home game and eliminate their opponent as a result. Frankfurt are normally no match for them.

How we imagine Barcelona who used to compete with Bayern Munich but now they have to compete with Frankfurt, do we have to worry Barcelona loses?
After all, I personally think Frankfurt is not a decent opponent for Barcelona moreover the second leg at Camp Nou Frankfurt must have got difficulty there

Remember barcelona today are not the ones they used to be, they have been different. Xavi has made them better, but football sometimes cannot guess the final result based solely on the history they have gone through.
Of course the second leg Barcelona have a good mentality because they play at Cap Nou. As far as that there are probably many people who bet for Barcelona. But Frankrut's opportunity is still wide open, although it seems difficult.

It's true that Barcelona has changed after being left by Messi and the financial crisis but now that Barcelona has started to recover, Barcelona is already in second place in LaLiga, which means that Barcelona will be competing again next season with some of the top European teams.
As for the match with Frankrut, I think it's a good competition too where Barcelona can still compete in the Europa League, against Frankrut it shouldn't be underestimated even though they are ready from a mental point of view but every match will be exciting if the score in the first leg is even.
Barcelona team will be a balanced team if they are able to sign some good players. They're not playing worst but need to improve their performance gradually. It is not possible to recover within shortage time. Day by day, they will be able to fix their performance.

I did not expected this many draws, it was seriously closer than I imagined. I imagined Leipzig would win, Barcelona would win and interestingly West Ham would win as well looking how they are doing better in a better league. Braga wasn't expected neither and was the only game I would say a draw, and if not then rangers to win as well.

I have to say this weeks of europa games made me lose a lot and I wasn't even close in some of them. Like Barcelona looked like a fairly easy bet, and I wagered 2.5+ goals on Barcelona Cheesy. Let alone a draw, I expected them to beat by that many. Interesting to see that they had trouble all over again, they are great at league but europa seems to be a difficult for them.

The Europa League is not difficult for them, and it is very important for their opponents to defend their goals and concede as little as possible, because they know what kind of team they are, and it is not easy to play against them. Holding on to a draw or even a win is something to be proud of, but it is quite obvious what will happen when the Catalans come to the Camp Nou and play at home.

The start of their Europa League rollout was quite good but closer to the end their performance has become less consistent now.
They should start again with pretty good things now but on the other hand their focus still has to be divided because the race for the top 6 position is still not very safe for them in the EPL.
They have to prepare a good strategy now to face Leg 2 later because this will really affect them

If you look at the previous 2 legs against Galatasaray and Napoli I think I am quite optimistic that they will do the same now.
They have now pocketed the data by playing in this Leg 1 and it is not impossible that Xavi now knows how to overcome Franfurt's game later.
he always thinks fast now and indeed sometimes his strategy is always good when in Leg 2.

I wonder what West Ham will do in the rematch of their matchup against Lyon. Because they got a really unfortunate red card in the first leg. They still got 1-0 ahead but were only able to make do with a 1-1 draw at the end of the game. But even in this kind of a situation, they did a good job I think. Maybe Lyon are going to have a stadium advantage next time. But I still believe in West Ham to eliminate them from the Europa League. I still expect them to be Barcelona's opponent in the semi finals. I know Barcelona's job is not guaranteed either but I believe in them too.

As far as I know West Ham only play well at home while their away game is pretty bad I doubt they can beat Lyon who has a strong defense
Losing one of the defenders can weaken their defense too Lyon can take advantage there in addition to the advantage of playing at home
West Ham don't have much experience in the Europa League hard to imagine they can go to the next stage.
Last away when 16 round West Ham United defeated by Sevilla 1-0 and they lead on second leg when playing home 2-0 aggregate 2-1 and lead to quarter final, I think bad with West Ham United after draw as home match and worry next on second leg against with Lyon will have bad problem, can winning on second leg match away to Lyon actually we know how atmosphere with Lyon fans will give pressure for West Ham United player until 90 minutes.
In general, the fact that being in the minority West Ham did not lose is already a good sign for the team. Lyon is a great team and one of the favorites of the championship. A balanced team with an excellent offense and midfield, but this time the whole stadium was behind West Ham and it was clear that the team fought on the home field to the end.
The away match will decide everything, but it seems to me that West Ham's chances are greater now than before the first match, where Lyon was the favorite

Barcelona is still the main favorite to win this competition.
I really don’t see who can stop them in this competition? West Ham? Lyon? I'm not sure.
If they stayed in the Champions League, they would surely be candidates to win the Champions League because Xavi really revived this team.
Personally, I thought that only Napoli or Sevilla have a chance against them, but now there is really weak competition left in this competition.

Eintracht  Cool I see no reason why Eintracht cannot win at the Camp Nou, besides, even winning the penalty shootout will be enough.
Now there are at least 6 teams that will simply tear it apart in such a confrontation (and two of them, by the way, have already done this - Bayern and Benfica). You have a clear euphoria from a series of successful matches Barcelona.

Actually, the goal from Frankfurt looked really awesome. It was quite a long way out and the shot was well taken I have to say.
I think we saw a match between two different poles in that match because while Frankfurt scored their only goal from a long way out, Barcelona scored their goal with decisive passes.
Frankfurt could have made a better result if they had made a little more through balls but they shot a lot more. All eyes are going to be on the second leg now.

I don't think Barcelona is going to lose the second leg because the score in the first leg was 1-1.

So obviously, neither team has any benefit over the other. You know, the second leg is going to be played in Camp Nou, and obviously, Barcelona should have the advantage in home conditions.

Now what I am wondering is what if Barcelona does not win the second leg and doesn't at once in the Europa league?

Is that good compared to where Barcelona was at the start of the season or is that bad because Barcelona was in the form before this match?

Barcelona is still the main favorite to win this competition.

Barcelona that struggled to get a draw against Frankfurt is the team you are considering to win the competition, probably we all are looking at the name of the clubs to determine who might win, personally I will give it to Atlanta, they have what it takes to win this competition, don't be if Frankfurt pull a suprise win at Nou camp, despite a man down they still managed to get a draw, if this Barcelona squad have a man down in the second leg I doubt if they will qualify for next round

One bad game means nothing.
Football competitions are very long and exhausting and it is normal that not all matches can be played at a top level.
What sets favorites apart from other teams is their ability to achieve good results based on the individual qualities of their players, even when they are not playing well as a team.
In order to properly assess the potential of a team, one should analyze several matches in a row, and not draw conclusions based on just one match.
That's true, that's why luck is also very influential in football, but once a season of playing well does not mean if you are not lucky or play badly in one important match which can immediately thwart you to become champions or advance to the next round.
this is still leg1 so there is still leg 2 to wait to determine who will advance to the next round.

This matchday is strange, the quarterfinals with 4 games and 3 end 1-1 and the 4th 1-0. As if all teams have the same tactics in the first game and only at Glasgow Rangers did it not work. The favorite to win the Europa League is FC Barcelona, i hope that a German team plays in the final.
it was just by chance. I think it's very unlikely for the German team to play in the final.
I favor Atalanta against Barcelona in the final and of course Barcelona are the favorites to win. I think no one doubts the quality of Barcelona to be able to win the Europa League this season, the effect of Xavi's arrival is very influential on changes in the Barcelona team.

I personally don't see it as something strange because for me, it's normal in some matches they get the same result. After all it's a tight tournament that even, in the first leg in the previous round of 16, we were surprised by Galatasaray who can hold Barcelona to a draw and now the team from Germany can do that too and I think that's normal. Also, regarding the other matches I think they are all opponents that have at least equal quality, like Leipzig v Atalanta, West Ham v Lyon. If it's about Braga v Rangers it's also a reasonable result, considering that the Portuguese team can sometimes only score a few goals and are able to defend quite strong.

Yeah, nothing too out of the ordinary. No more away goals, and no one wants to get in a position that the second leg is meaningless or too insurmountable, so draws in the first leg or slim wins are pretty much the expected fare.

Disappointed Barca didn't get a win, even more disappointed that Rangers have a small hill to climb, but am I surprised? Nah, not really.

Least we can't say the competition's decided already (and same for Conference).

Barcelona had a tough season and actually the team started playing good football a few months late, but right now I don't think they're a bad team. The individual performances of the players improved and the team became a good team after Xavi arrived.

You are right. The team has undergone unprecedented changes since Xavi took charge of the team. And now Barcelona is a strong team. Even if they draw in the first leg, they should get an easy victory in the second leg. We know how destructive Barcelona is now at home. An experienced and strong team like Real Madrid could not resist Barcelona at Camp Nou. So I think Barcelona will have an easy win in the second leg and win by at least two goals.

Frankfurt's performance was very good, I even thought they could win the match. If Torres had not scored, Frankfurt would have had a big advantage in the second game.
They surprised many and managed to draw. The ball was always in Barcelona, but Frankfurt was the team that shot the most, I think we will watch a different Barcelona in the second match Smiley

I think Barcelona is not yet as many think in top form like they used to be when they had world class players like Messy and a couple of others. Now Barcelona is slowly starting to get back on track after they started to be managed by Xavi as their manager.I am not surprised at this result because I know Frankfurt at home plays strongly and they were much more motivated than Barcelona to win this game.

I think Barcelona is going to qualify only if they don't take Frankfurt easy at home otherwise they risk to be eliminated causing a big surprise in the Europa League. If Barcelona play seriously at home then without a doubt they will qualify.
