Livakovic made a very interesting decision and was kicked out of the game as a result of a red card. I watched the position over and over again, but I didn't understand why he received a red card. He interfered with Lewandowski after interfering with the ball, but I don't understand what warranted a red card.
Livakovic should not have received a red card because, realistically, he reached the ball first and could no longer stop himself from coming into contact with the player who was coming at him at full speed. What is strange is that VAR did not react, but it should in these situations. Apparently, the referee is a big fan of RL and wanted to please the home crowd, and as far as I can read, the Polish media literally lynched Livakovic and think that even a red card is too small a punishment.
It is strange that they succeeded in this, considering that they have become specialists in conceding goals in the last minutes of the game. However, in the 4-4-1 system in which they played until the end of the game, it was very difficult for the opponent to get a chance to shoot at the goal at all.
As I wrote in the previous post, at the moment Croatia and Poland are relatively equal teams, with perhaps a little more quality on an individual level when it comes to Croatia.
