Hi Emdje,

If I were to over clock my A2 5 module 75mh/s miner to Max 1300mhz. Would it be fine to run it, directly under an air-conditioner sitting on 20 degrees Celsius, without making any changes or adding any heatsinks etc to the miner?

All I will do is keep the lid or top of the miner opened.

There may be a way to setup the miner and the wall mounted aircon, so the aircon, points directly at the intake fans, on the device.

Although will aircon air, blowing over the top style cooling, be just as effective?

Thanks again for this great IMG file. Appreciate your work greatly. Smiley

I'm not sure I would take the lid off.  Essentially you will be letting air go up, yes hot air goes up but the airflow then would not be making it as easily to end of the blades.

Be careful if you are overclocking and thinking about doing things such as leaving case top off.  Most likely it would be better with case top on and extra cooling going in from front or adding extra exhaust.  And of course temperature of room is a factor.

I have a 1st batch A2-90, but it never goes above 82Mh/s, I've tried many ways, but still no dice. It may have to do with the fact that 3 out of 6 of the blades have less than 430 cores in them. Could this be the issue??

Its same with my miner, the early series have higher HWs and can use max 1200mhz.

So you are using the original cgminer shipped with the A2s? 3.9.0?

I suspect the PSU that is delivered with most of these devices is part of the problem as well. It is running on its max as it is, so overclocking and requiring even more is even tougher. Using a good PSU will help to cut down on energy use as well.

I tried it on my A2mini 30MHash from MinerEU. But on 1300MHz it is hashing a little bit less than with original 1200MHz (on ghash multipool about 0,5-1MHash less).
Tried on 2 different units and on various pools and the same (bad) results.
Probably I have some "B quality" from supplier...

The easiest way (not entirely correct) is to multiply the amount HW errors with 100(%) and divide it by the number of accepted shares. (this is what I usually do)
A better way to do it is to multiply the amount of HW errors with 100(%) and divide it by the sum of accepted shares, rejected shares and HW errors.

so whats the formula to figure out hardware errors from the one line a the bottom? or the real time monitor?

i see HW errors, but no % vs. what was accepted. In other works how do you figure out the actual % of HW errors?

thanks!

You are right I just checked other settings it does not work  Cry Cry Cry

I only takes certain values, everything above 1300MHz goes to 1400Mhz right away.
Sorry for this f*ckup guys.

So what happens when you go to 1400?

it explodes?

No it gives about 50% HW errors.  It does not explode  Tongue

We need to have our own cgminer for proper overlocking in order to adjust voltage.

Well your setting one of the default frequencies (1300). I have the very early Terminator, so it may be different, but i can only set certain values (1200,1280,1300).

Trying to set 1210 and 1220 Mhz on first two blades:
Code:

I got asked to show the cgminer.log
Here you see cgminer actually uses the frequencies:

how many more watts does this update use?

the 1280 from 1200 - brought it from 740- ~ 785

also, what is the max that you have tested going up to successfully?

I haven't measured. But mine does not use 700+ to begin with because I only have a 400 Watt PSU.
Currently I am running it at 1300MHz with 3.6% HW errors. I tried 1330, but that gave me 50% HW errors, haven't tried anything in between yet.
Clevermining reports a 29.8Mh/s average for 24hs.

How do you only have a 400 watt PSU in an A2 84MH/s miner? It comes with a PSU of like 1300watts or something. Are you referring the the 2 blade mini?
29.8 MH/s ?
for what the whole miner? or each board?
or are you talking about the 2 blade mini which already does that speed?

Please clarify.

Thanks!

Yes I am referring to the A2Mini (should have been more clear about that), and yes for the whole miner.

When I used 1280MHz I averaged 27.5MH/s on clevermining. Using 1300MHz I average 29.8 on clevermining, which is about 8% more.

Did you just change the index.php file or you got your own cgminer binary? I have early version of Terminator with max pool speed around 83Mhs and eventhou I can set any frequency I wish (like your mod), the cgminer only allows certain values like: 1200, 1280, 1300 etc. It can be seen in cgminer.log when miner initializes.
