Influencer marketing for casinos may not target children, but it still has unintended consequences. Their priority will always profits rather than ethics or users' well-being. Their content might not be explicitly aimed at children, but the exposure to glamorous portrayals of gambling normalizes it and makes it seem exciting or cool. This can plant the seed for gambling addiction later in life.

Underage internet users can often find ways to bypass parental controls. Even age-restricted content can be accessed, and gambling can seem like a fun or rebellious activity. Casinos aren't necessarily targeting a specific age group with influencer marketing. They're targeting people with specific spending habits and behaviors. Teens who watch gambling content may be more likely to gamble when they reach adulthood. Even if the influencer doesn't directly promote gambling to a young audience, their association with a casino can be seen as cool. This indirect marketing can make gambling seem more appealing.
Okay that’s fine. We both are advertising for casinos on Bitcointalk and so is every other person on this thread. And somehow we do not seem to qualify ourselves as “influencers” in this regard. Maybe it’s because the term denotes some responsibility that we are not yet willing to accept. We cannot control who opens an account on the forum or visits the gambling section as a guest user. Anyone with a device and internet can access the forum and while it is not our intention to advertise casinos to minors, the truth is that it can happen.

OP is right, but we can't put all the blame on influencers or ads promoters, they are simply doing that for monetary value which for me isn't bad. They have built a system with followers, so it's left for you to sign up or not.

We have seen different gambling sites promoted but we didn't still sign up for, why because we didn't see any cordial reason to, that's same thing, if you train your ward properly I don't think there is any need for fear. The only solution is you knowing those you follow and listen to on social media platforms.

I don't think they have a specific target, because anyone can gamble as long as they understand the steps for gambling. However, nowadays children who are no longer familiar with the internet and gadgets can make them familiar with online gambling which is currently popular, with children who are no longer familiar with the internet, they have the potential to become familiar with gambling and indeed This can be a seed for gambling addiction in the future, because sometimes when parents are busy they give their children gadgets to play with.

The main thing is that most of them are young people who have lots of desires, young people who nowadays tend to always want to own luxury goods and because of that they think gambling is one way to make money quickly, but that is wrong. if they gamble with the aim of doubling their money, it will only make them suffer misery because what will happen is they will become addicted to gambling instead of improving their financial situation to buy what they want.

A lot of social media influencers especially vloggers and YouTubers are promoting gambling usually at the end of their vlogs or videos.
I could see a huge contribution and spread of information that they made especially during this time where the majority are using smartphones already. In fact, we've been seeing a massive increase in gamblers and online gambling sites. But how this could affect the mindset of the kids when they are also seeing these ads/promotions from the social media influencers they followed? I could be wrong but this has a mental effect on them and at a very young age, they are exposed to gambling already which is supposedly not the right time.

I think these influencers must know their target audience before accepting the offer or should not be included in their vlogs or videos?
As with the other comment I made on a similar post, this was because the money they get from these sponsored advertisements are batshit insane, in the Philippines alone, a regular micro-vlogger (someone with at least 4k followers and are more into short-form content than full-on videos) could get $500-1000 bucks, and for larger content creators with millions of followers, the rate last I heard goes upwards of $2000-$20,000 depending on how long the sponsored ad's going to be along with other factors. So it's no surprise these people are so adamant about advertising these obscure casinos. Dignity doesn't pay the bills, and neither does compassion for those who lost their money due to gambling addiction, and with the economy falling into deeper shitholes nowadays, these people find no choice but to actually take these casinos up for their offers.

The Philippine government's on a crackdown to punish unlicensed casinos but that could only do so much because as long as money's there, people will be forced to really take these sponsorships, plus the public's losing its trust on the government following fiasco after fiasco so it's not like they really hold that much of a power over the people besides putting them in the slammer.

You only said they promote the casinos/companies that sponsored them at the end of the videos, but I see it differently here in my country, it is worse as they promote them from almost the beginning, in the middle and in the end depending on the influencer. Well, I do not have issues with that, big influencers could deliver good and useful information, so as we enjoy them, we can sacrifice that as well to keep the activity running. But these days, it is getting too much, there is no more regulation or consideration for the young people. It got worse with the traditional TV programs and even city billboards, you will see enough gambling adverts there, and it is not refined to some certain age anymore.

I do not know how this will affect the next generation, but I know that it is morally wrong. And the government is not saying anything because it is more money for them, well, at least for my country, it could be better in a serious country. The influencers should be sanctioned if the beginning of their video does not warn of the adult-related advertisements, but still here in my country, nothing of such is happening yet. Even YouTube and other platforms that are unannouncedly poping adult-related adverts in videos should be heavily sanctioned to curb such menace. At least, they should have warned the viewers about what they could see in the video and the adverts attached to it.

The truth of the matter is that most, if not all influencers care about their audiences and the content they're pushing to these audiences as long as they are making good bucks, then it's all good. Imo, it now falls in the the jurisdiction of the parents and guardians of these kids to play an active role to ensure their wards don't indulge in it by having a discussion around the topic rather than ignoring or avoiding it. Gambling isn't the only thing being put at the forefront of minors and I reckon that it's no5 going to stop anytime soon.

Bottomline, it is actually the parents or the person himself who should filter what is being shown from social media. You can't expect these influencers to know the feeling of their audience or fans. This is why it is on you, being the audience to take care of your own welfare.
But the sad part is that no matter how the parents supervise or guide their children's, it is impossible for a parent to look for their child 24/7, so there will still be a window where young people will be exposed to gambling or different influences on social media. especially right now when the streaming community is getting worse. Why? Because there are a lot of streamers that stream games, or any games that they will make content for, but notice that they start to stream their gambling games, it became their main streaming session, which is alarming because for money they sell their dignity and start to promote gambling without thinking about the impact of it on their viewers. We can see that everyone could be blinded by money; even if they receive criticism, they will ignore it because they want money. we can't blame them because they only do that in order to live but the thing is, is that the only way?

For the parent - they should instill good values and virtues to their kids. You'll never know how these can help them when you are not around. Do remember, you can't watch them 24/7, so it is better to have them good upbringing as they can hold onto those values wherever they are.

The casinos do their own research before hiring an influencer to promote their casino. Influencers who often get these jobs have a specific audience (users above 18+) that the casino considers prospective customers. Their content are not for kids so they do not worry about underage gambling happening because of their platform. Trust me, no casino wants kids betting on their platform. Think about it, how much are kids going to spend gambling? The amount is nowhere close to what an adult would gamble with. Parents have a big role to play in deciding what and who their kids watch and follow on social media.

It's odd when an influencer's content isn't gambling then suddenly it's been attached with some gambling ads at the end of their videos. Yeah, they should know their audience and that's why the casino that wants to advertise on them has that metric of theirs.

But in these ages of social media, they'll just accept whatever they can earn with even it's going to be a problem for a lot of audiences that are viewing their content.

AFAIK, they're paid per video and they're earning a lot from it so, there's no screening anymore and they'll just continue it.

Influencers will never care about this, because what matters most to them is how many people watch the news and how many people are influenced to visit the gambling sites they promote.

At this time, gambling content and advertisements can no longer be avoided because they are like mushrooms that are scattered everywhere. Meanwhile, today's life can never be separated from cellphones and social media. and we cannot limit them from continuing to create content and make live streaming shows about gambling, because this is beyond our capabilities. And the only thing we can do is to provide learning and understanding to our children about the negative impacts of gambling, with the hope that through the understanding and learning provided, they will avoid irresponsible gambling activities.

Gambling has a very dangerous negative impact on children's growth and development, and can damage their future. Therefore, always pay attention and supervise our children well.

I would feel more comfortable if those influencers also had some idea and keep in consideration what kind of audience they have and filter their content in such a way it does not negatively affect children and teens.
We could argue that in the end of the day all comes to parenting and parent supervision, because of some child or teen wants to have access to gambling or pornography on the internet, they will always be able to go around the filters and restrictions, but we are not supposed to lift responsibility off the shoulders of companies like Google and Influencers on social media anyways.
For example, not long ago the staff of Instagram decided to limit those users to shared political content in that platform for no apparent reason, it was sor of a shadowban on the creators of political content. The explanation of the people working on Meta was they do not feel people want to further engage in politics and keeping politics on their application could reduce the engagement of users.

It would be useful if Meta limited the advertisement and the content related to gambling to users who declared to be underaged.

Social media surely gives a lot of visibility to gambling. The big casinos have gotten big names in the rap and boxing game on their side to promote them as "influencers" and this draws new crowds to try gambling as a constant stream.

The thing with this type of promotion is that it has certain drawbacks for the viewer. For one, there's no showcase of the cons of gambling in this type of promotion. Influencers are incentivized to only show their wins. And this creates a wrapped perception for people that they're just going to get wins. Like for instance when people gamble on stream, they're constantly shown earning huge winnings streaks. etc.

This of course isn't realistic and many people are suspecting that the odds for streamers might be fixed. This wrapped perception towards gambling does real damage to inexperienced people to be honest so the perception people get on gambling from social media isn't that great.

That's reasonable if the videos are related to sports, and the streamers/vloggers' content is related to games and gambling, amd if its youtube or facebook's auto generated ads, it's normal.

What is not is vlogs that are non-sports and non-gambling related then there is an included gambling video ad in the end of the video. Like it's a funny video then later there is a gambling ad, like wtf, it's auto report to me, coz its annoying.
What worst is the promoted gambling casino is a known scammer.

No wonder many vloggers do the same and act like its normal to have such ad. Well, there are still vloggers/influencers who doesn't want accept those gambling ads to them.

Many of those influencers only care about the money they are being paid and the ones they will also earn as a result of the promotion they are doing. It's not just the money they offer them, but anyone who also registers using their promo code. The company gives them something in return for that user who registers and makes any amount of deposit, which is one of the reasons why they share their promo code at the end of their video.

and this is why gambling awareness should be taught to children, day by day as technology advances, information will become more and more accessible to the younger generation and with it, they will also be exposed to things that are not meant for them. instead of completely blocking them from it, teaching and educating them about it will be far more beneficial in the long run. it's the same thing with other things like sex, smoking, drinking, drug use, etc... educating them about it will be far more beneficial than completely blocking them from it until they are of a certain age.

You wouldn't blame the influencer for their promotion rather kids of nowadays are being exposed to social media in way that they can't deal away from social media and they have access to all manner of things, if there were to be a way where they could add age limits them it would be fine. But this, youtube, facebook and twitter has no restrictions of age bracket where all kinds of people even under age people can start having have access to adult video which is very bad. Let say for instance, I want to promotes any gambling site online how do i know that this age limit aren't allow to access the gambling site, is now left for gambling site to set a limitation or restriction on age bracket where those who are underage can't have full access to site, by this they can limits underage or little kids to have restricted access to go through that site.

It should be vlogs = video + blog.

Blog = written form.

Well, the algorithm of the social medias where they are making contents will do the thing. But they should also be responsible by putting some disclaimer that what they're promoting isn't for kids.

I haven't seen yet a vlogger that have said the same thing about that disclaimer and that's why most of them are for the sponsorships and money only.

There are lots of things social media influencers are doing which is really affecting the society, but most of those influencers only care about themselves, they only care about the amount which they are going to be paid, and they do ignore the negative impact of the company which they are marketing for. Young children growing up are growing to be a gambler, since they have access to mobile devices at the early stage, they do see most of those gambling sites everywhere, and when they are advertising for those companies, they do make people feel they can make money from gambling, which will encourage people to gamble.
