Yes, sadly I think the days of catching a few UNO grams with gh/s ASICs are over.
On the bright side you can rent-a-rig and get BTC, NAME, DVC, i0c?, and if it ever takes off iX transaction fees.  Also GroupCoin?

Take you're old ASICs and mine Zeta, Maza, dem, ghc, XJO, Tiger, BET, OPEN, FFC, MYR, UNB, TIT(as in the bird), and HOLD or sell off to buy UNO Smiley

The way I look at it is that UNO is leader of the ALT sha256 pack ... we can foster the better of the ALT sha coins and help them transition to MM once they reach 'sustain' mining stages.  (ps ... BTC and NAME are a little too up-pitty to assume this role so it is on us in UNO to be caretakers ... should you care to care).

BTW ... lots of good hearted Pool Ops here in UNO making sure these ALT sha coins get a shot, so I salute ya'll!

But we are transitioning to MM so that means moving on up to the big leagues of PH/s pools.  Personally I'd rather stick with the Pool Ops that got us here so if you got a MM pool fired up ... let us know!  And often Smiley

Greetings everyone!

I have been mining UNO for over a year now as side project for my older miners on coinmine.pl.
Now that the hard fork has happened, it's like everything has stopped.
Is there are list of pools that are up and running that offer MM (that doesn't charge a huge fee)?
Or is MMPOOL.org the bet option right now?

Thanks for the info!

Big question is how to translate Unobtanium?

You don't translate it at all. It's a name like John, Marry, Bitcoin, Litecoin, Ferrari, Eston Martin, Coca Cola, Mc Donalds, Nike, Alice or Bob. (Brand)Names aren't translated. "Unobtanium" is international name the same all over the world.  Wink

Yes.  But the funny thing is the Chinese Language.  It is not PHOnet-iK Smiley

we will have a 3 character name and then UNO ... see btc38 for details ... 买入量/UNO

Hello,

I want to run some nodes in Middle Europe, but feature --disable-wallet don't works with latest source (https://github.com/unobtanium-official/Unobtanium)

I tried it with many kernels 3.10+ and other needed libraries versions

compilling error:

I am going to attempt to duplicate this error, give me a few hours to spin up a VM and I will report back.  Also, please ensure you are defining relative paths for EVERYTHING in this build. I was unable to compile without specifically defining the location of boost libraries.

OK, so I'm a Windows user and have been mining UNO on iSpace.  Between halving of the block reward and an above reported increase in hash due to merge mining, I gather mining just UNO anymore is a disaster.  So, I may as well use the time waiting for a new Windows wallet learning about merge mining.

Is merge mining always BTC plus an alt coin or are there other combinations?  Is UNO merge mining with just BTC or are there other combinations?  What pools support UNO merge mining?
Thanks for your hash, and your interest in continuing to mine Uno.

You can now simultaneously mine Btc and 6 other coins (including Uno) at http://mmpool.org/register

Also look at xpool.ca, who just announced they have added Uno to merged mining.
Thanks for getting back to me!  I've moved two miners to MMpool and am, so to say, trying the water.  Is there any statistical info comparing MM BTC Vs straight BTC return, and also MM Alt Vs straight Alt?  (Example, if my primary focus with a given miner is BTC, how much of a BTC return hit would it take if merge mining with an Alt?  Likewise if the focus were on the Alt?)  I would expect there to be inefficiencies and would like to have some statistical sense of their impact.
If you find such an analysis, I would be interested to read it. I would not anticipate there will be any practical or measurable "hit" to your btc return as you incrementally earn more funds for your hash.

I would agree with this.  Parenthetically, it could be described as BitcoinNational suggests.  (Rare, difficult to acquire mineral, expensive) sort of thing.  Further I would think we would emphasize referring to it as "Uno" making it easy to pronounce.

As to the translators wages, the only way I know to contact him is through the upwork.com website I found him on.  Daniel is obviously not his name but if someone has contacts at shapeshifter.io, perhaps we can offer a non-cash deal.

As to fundraising:

BitcoinCharlie     10 Uno
BitcoinNational    5 Uno
Gekko                10 Uno

Rough budget only is $150, to be refined once we speak to the translator.  First goal is 60 Uno of pledges to reimburse any fiat I must put out.  We are almost half way there.

Yes I approve both projects, whilst the fork is hard Smiley

1. "Infiltrate China" project
2. MM Pool project ... Slush Rush ( signup and login to slushpool and vote for UNO ) -PENDING-

Will contribute to both.

5kg UNO pledged for Daniel H
Can we do the UNOs as a Bonus and pay $/BTC wise, Daniel H might become a HODL'r that way;)

Here's CNY/UNO for the last 13 months.

Big question is how to translate Unobtanium?
I think any decent translator will be able to find 5-7 ways of translating it.
So for me, I'd like to see the options first before we choose.
Visually how to the characters look to Western eyes.
Also making sure we don't have some funky weird translation ... e.g. ... I tried via online translators and got "Can Not Cage" or "Can not find it".

in BASIC ENGLISH
Unobtanium =
a. most rare element
b. very expensive material (costly material)

Before contacting Daniel H., I have 3 questions (basically all questions for @Learnminer):

1.  Who manages our unobtanium.uno webpage?  Is it @Learnminer?

2.  If everyone agrees, can that person (@Leaarnminer) make the suggestions I have enumerated below so before sending files to translator?

3.  Once the changes are made, can @Learnminer provide me with whatever HTML page or whatever raw material I would have to provide to the translator to get the work done in a format saving you the most work?
__________________________________________________
Gekko's suggested updates to the unobtainium.uno website:

1.  Exchanges:  add BTC38.com, and Bter.com marked "coming soon"

2.  Quotations:  add current quote for CNY/UNO available at http://coinmill.com/CNY_UNO.html and https://www.coingecko.com/en/price_charts/unobtanium/cny

3.  "Talk Uno":  open an Unobtainium account on Weibo and mirror the UNO Twitter feed.  It would be cool if somebody could get a Chinese girlfriend to handle this.  All of mine are Vietnamese.  Add link to Unobtanium Weibo in the "Talk Uno" section.
________________________________________________

Roadmap to China:

1.  Update unobtainium.uno with Chinese elements.
2.  Gekko to contact "Daniel H." and request an estimate for:

a.  Translating the website.
b.  Performing SEO on the website targeting Baidu
c.  Establishing an "Unobtainium" account on Weibo, Translating last 10 Tweets from our Twitter feed.  (ask him for an on-going estimate to do this on the fly).
d.  Assist us in getting UNO listed on major Chinese exchanges (suggest this not be hourly, rather a bounty should be offered for success)

3.  Gekko to engage Daniel to do work with community approval and financial support committed verbal.
4.  Learnminer to work with Daniel H. to get the Chinese page up ASAP.
5.  Daniel H. to demonstrate SEO results.

Later, once our Chinese site and Weibo mouthpiece is in place, Community to write 2 or 3 articles to be submitted to Chinese crypto press, engaging Daniel to translate once again.

So, I would like to:

1.  Hear from Learnminer
2.  Get some UNO pledges to support this project so I have a budget in mind when contacting Daniel H.

Now is the perfect time to prepare this when this artillery of technical shite is raining down upon us, forcing us to take cover.  Now is the time that we sit in the bunker, cleaning our rifles, sharpening our bayonets and preparing our spirits and minds to go over that next hill.  China.

Let's do this right.  We pull the trigger now, and hit the Chinese press as soon as all of our wallets are working our hash is high our price is stable our website is Chinese and our network operates impecably when merge-mining with other SHA coins.

Pledges please.  Falling Knife or IMZ or somebody else you trust more can collect the fund.  I will post paid invoices before requesting reimbursement .
