Exactly right - some people have worked long and hard to build up a good number of referrals to earn a few extra $ for themselves. I guess these attackers don't care who they hurt.

We got hurt too; we don't even know how many referrals we have lul.

For all Coinpot users: Again, multiplier seems to be a scam so don't play it.

Tested again last 5 days with this config:

- 5 distributed computers with 100k autoroll each one and different IP
- Different multiplier combinations: always higher, always lower, always alternate, alternate when win, alternate when lose
- RESULT: More than 300 tokens lost IN EACH WINDOW! AND EVERY DAY!!

To be honest, this situations do not happen every week... but... the reverse positive situation NEVER HAPPENS!

So be very carefull when playing multiplier... you should NEVER DEPOSIT crypto on websites like this.

You can still claim the faucets but I don't because of the ridiculous quantities...
So I reveal the trick to block the adds if you don't wanna see them anymore and still being able to claim the faucets.
Add this line to your hosts configuration:

Code:
127.0.0.1 coinad.com cointraffic.co cointraffic.io apps6.cointraffic.io mellowads.com ad.bitmedia.io request-global.czilladx.com ltc.blockr.io

(in Windows systems the hosts configuration should be at C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc and file "hosts" <-- edit it as administrator and add the previous line)

and this way you are able to claim the faucets but without almost any add.
Yeah, the last few days i have been loosing in multiplier hand over fist, like 300+ in 1500-2000 rolls, multiple times, nothing even close to be in the realm of reasonable for the odds of it happening.  On top of that i am not receiving my tokens for completing challenges, certainly be careful!

Absolutely gutted - 2,000+ referrals gone!

Still, feel sorry for the Coinpot guys and also respect to them for being up front about the situation and doing their best to get things back to normal.

I'm not logged in, what happened?

You can read the story in the announcement they linked here: http://moonbit.co.in/

By the way, I started using the faucets quite late compare to the majority so I hadn't many referrals, maybe only my dad. For those of you with many of them it's a huge deal... in that sense the attacker damaged the users way more than the site administrators...

Demanding a whopping 200 grand to a ransomware attack is pretty steep and I agree nobody in hell would pay such amount unless there are mission-critrical files.
Damn, $200k... I think it's a bit stupid to require such huge ransom from faucet. Yes, Coinpot is old and popular group of faucets, but I doubt that they make so much money to afford to pay such big ransom. Even if they would afford, I think it would be stupid to pay it. There is no guarantees that hackers would return data after getting money. So, they may end without money and database.
It sucks that we will loose all referrals, but at least we will get every single Satoshi that we earned so far.

exactly. im sure they would have more success if they just asked for smaller amounts...but i guess they only need one payday every now and then
maybe they hoped coinpot would try to negotiate
and maybe they though coinpot had loads of money

Most probably, but I doubt the faucet owner would rather give in just to save referrals since the feature's merely an "extra", and it basically increase the expenditures (payouts) for the faucet owner(s).

On other sites, mainly gambling, they just revamp the referral system and tell players to simply start again from scratch. Just like what Coinpot's doing right now.

Oh well, that sucked pretty bad.

oh shit!

bad new about the referrals but good news that the faucets will be back online soon!!

https://coinpot.co/news/what-happened-to-moon-bitcoin-dogecoin-litecoin-faucets

Thanks for share @grahamlyons
it seems that referrals from bonus bitcoin are not affected at this point since I continue to receive satoshi/tokens for their activity .
it has been a good effort for them coming already online, and offer these bonus for the next 7 days... good to know since they runs one of the oldest faucet already active.

Lucky for you, I have 2 missing BTC withdrawals within 3 weeks, just be careful guys.

Hmm, the last time I withdrew which was almost one month ago, it went through fine. Your balance was above 0.0001 BTC, right?

Well for all the doubters out there, I just received 0.1 dash from Coinpot on today's withdrawal. Arrived quickly and without issue.

Proof here:

Transaction ID: 87503f00d1731fcb826ff97464921d537c0513e8c56f2bdad4f03f654fd51ae4

Receiving Address: https://blockchair.com/dash/outputs?q=recipient(Xjs2ZwdF37EvHWJnJhJjig9P1E2DG6pYoe)#

You will see the 0.1 transaction and 3 others recently received from Coinpot.

Clearly legit and always has been.

Coinpot emails are now showing up immediately for me after I sign in or make a withdrawl. Perhaps they've finally fixed their email server.

I can also confirm that my dogecoin withdrawl showed up without any issue. Finally, we are starting to see some improvements. Hopefully it doesn't go downhill after the other faucets come back online.
