Q: I want to change my forum username. What should I do?
A: You can either donate 50 BTC to become a VIP or PM theymos asking to change your username (although he rarely accepts such requests nowadays).

Thanks for you listed Bitcointalk.org rules. But i think 50 BTC donate is very big for change form username. Grin

Certainly hope no-one needs to change their username. Or if they did in the past, I'm sure they kicking themselves now  Grin

Hi folks, I'm just curious why this thread was moved to the service announcement child board:
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/tada-token-a-community-participation-digital-film-tv-studio-1917806

It was originally posted in Altcoin Discussion.

As we aren't a service provider, would it be possible to have it moved back to the original location?

Many thanks!

Rick
Because it's an announcement of an external service. A "community driven digital film & tv studio" is still a service.

Okay got it, thanks!

The amount was fixed when Bitcoin was not worth much. But that amount won't change now.
The forum doesn't need donations; the advertisement revenue is substantial.

Added extra info in regards to rule 24 (said info was already within the rule's example though that's easy to miss):

24. Advertisements (including signatures within the post area) in posts aren't allowed unless the post is in a thread you started and is really substantial and useful.[9][e]

Thanks for this list - it helps me understand what happened with my first post-attempt which ended up being multiple versions of that same post and hence DELETED. Now, I can say, I get it.

How to start bounties through bitcointalk without breaking any rules .
Should the address be send through PM ?

Regards,

If you are going to pay those bounties in altcoins and the bounty requires users to do something low effort (the bounty reminds more of a giveaway than providing an actual service; e.g. post a single or a couple of tweets, follow, like a Facebook page, etc.) then the signup for the bounty should be either off-site or via PM.

It looks like theymos has added a new rule regarding the sale of invites/accounts:
Quote from: theymos
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/hacked-invitesaccounts-are-not-allowed-1785577
You are only allowed to sell accounts/invites that you legally obtained yourself or through legitimate trades. If you did anything illegal in order to obtain an item, then you can't trade it on bitcointalk.org. Anyone found breaking this rule will be banned.

Added clarification in regards to one of the FAQ questions (as I'm tired of repeating myself in PMs; change highlighted):

There are so many rules!

But extortion, blackmail, and mob rule, is fine here. So why care about rules?
If you feel someone broke the law, contact your local authorities and file a police report. We're neither judge, nor jury, nor the executioner when it comes to enforcing laws around the world.
It could be reasonably argued, thats exactly what Lauda should have done, instead of acting as the threatening executioner.
It does seem so, though let's keep this on topic. The ethics of a user's actions should be discussed in it's own topic.

For example, if in a 14 day period you post 14 posts, you gain +14 activity.
If you post 2 posts in a 14 day period, you gain +2 activity.
If you don't post at all in a 14 day period, you don't gain activity.
However, if you post 15 or more posts in a 14 day period, you still gain only +14 activity.

So there is a cap on how quickly your activity can accumulate, 15 posts per 14 days to gain 14 activity per two weeks max?

Fixed it.

Also how about losing activity can you ever lose activity?

Yes, if all your posts for an activity period are deleted you lose all 14 points of activity.

It says if you don't post at all you don't gain activity, but can you lose it?

There is no decay over time, no.
