it will still be a plastic miner! i like to have it enclosed in a case and the sp20 is sexy!
and did anyone made calculation on this undervolt and underclock? is it really worth investing much more fiat just to pay less electricity?
i like it full blast, or overclock the hell out of it. i paid for 1.7th/s, i want that and a bit more!

Just plugged in an S5 about an hour ago.....

so far the sp20 wins hands down.....
Grin

I also prefer the sp20.  But and this is a big one.   I am working behind the scenes on a test review of a  :

"... few different split- and single-rail 50A DC-DC designs which should allow adjustment from about 11.5V down to 7V from a 12VDC source. ... "

Quoted from a pm with a forum member with a good rep.

This should be ready for testing in 3 weeks.

If
A) it only lowers efficiency of the 12 volt by under 5%
B) it is stable
C) if the s-5 can really run on reduced volts as advertised

The s-5 would be a nice piece of gear.  Maybe you get 800gh  using  240 to 300 watts.  vs the 400 it would do now.

If the units does 800gh at 240 watts 1 quiet fan will work.  so 40-60 for the power controller and 20 for a quiet fan is 60-80 in mods.

It costs 340 shipped today add 80 it is 420 as a quiet super low power piece of gear.

But this is not proven and won't be for at least 3 weeks

Hey cats!  Has anyone used the serial connections on the SP20 to connect multiple units to one controller?  Does that function work?  Is it documented?
It was a mistake done in the interview by the reviewer. The serial console is for debugging via a special cable, not for connecting multiple units.
Ah, no problem.  Thanks for the speedy reply--I'll punch a few more holes in the firewall then!

If it doesn't say free shipping, then there is no free shipping! Wink

3 sp20's consume about 3.6kw, not 4.5 as u writed.
Also the speed for 3 sp20 is not really 5.1,but ~4.9 and you can compare it to sp31...

It depends a lot on the price that you can acquire the psu.
Keep in mind that you need good quality psu, with strong 16awg cables!

does the single sp20 come w free shipping too? It is not showing a shipping price when checking out?

Also is it just me or are the 3 sp20's for 1495 w free shipping a much better value then the s35? i.e.

3sp20 = 5.1ths @ 4500 watts = 1500$ + ~300-500 in psu's

s35 = 5.5 ths @ 3700watts = ~2500$

Your welcome!
Good luck to you!

seems the watts of sp20 consumed are pretty close to this equation: voltage^2 * GH/s * 1,4

Your welcome!

The only thing important is that start voltage must be at least 0.005 smaller than max voltage! My tests are a bit of failure because of this Grin

Example:
Start Voltage    0.685 / 0.685 / 0.685 / 0.685
Max. Voltage    0.69

Good luck to you!

WARNING: Radical ideas folllow...

My 2 SP20 boxes run underclocked on 850W supplies getting between 1300-1350 with temperature reporting 33/78
settings are .68/.,62/.68/.62 with 200W on each

I lay my box on its side with the network connection down.
I run a 120mm fan outside the box pulling air out by the connectors
I've reversed my internal fan to push air into the box
and ... I run my reversed fan at 5%

Ahh -- finally peace!

The following is not recommended. It can damage your box, void your warranty and cause you stress

To allow setting the fan to 5%

ssh into the miner

cd /var/www/SP2x/
sed -i  's/($i = 20; $i < 101; $i += 10)/($i = 00; $i < 101; $i += 05)/' settings.php

Now, if I can only get this to persist across box reboots

you can change the following file to lower the fan speed below 20.

Code:
vi /etc/mg_custom_mode

FAN:10 VS0:650 VS1:650 VS2:650 VS3:650 VMAX:700 AC0:288 AC1:288 AC2:288 AC3:288 DC_AMP:170

Does that add an additional option, or set the fan to 10?

I change the settings script, so I can play with the different rates

I do this and mine run nicely at 15 with no boosting fan.

I run them at about 1200gh and 600 watts.  in an attached garage.  it is finally winter with outside temps at -7c or 21f.
my attached garage is cooler so 8x 1200gh = 9600gh at 4800 watts all fans at 15 and no hot chips.

is there some overview in which hash speeds ABOVE 1,2-1,3 TH/s are possible with which power consumption in real life?
I think currently this is the only point where the SP20 can differ from S5 performance and price/TH.

Any way, trick, ssh or something to take out the 288W limit on sp20? ? ? ? ? ? ? Please!!!
thank you!

or the voltage limit of 0.790!!!

man  I think you want to do some meltdowns!!

incoming -10C this week! is a pity not to have some fun! Grin if i had some waterblocks i could have made a chiller and have maxtemps on asics close to 0 Cheesy

Not so much concerned with power as with noise as this is sitting not that far from my desk. 1378 GH with only 20% Fan, love these things.
