Is anyone using a tool to monitor multiple SP20s from one location? I use mdude's antmonitor for my ants and would like to have that same visibility into the SP20s without having to login to each one.

I would like to get some info about the noise level ... the specifications says ~20 DB at 25 °C ambient temperature ... is this true and is this at max load @160 GH/s? Is it equipped with some high quality 80mm fan that adjusts speed in accordance with the temperature?

Marto could probably answer you over here:

Great for you guys  Grin.

A somewhat sore note: I observe a current lack of real bid on mining gear on ebay and that includes Bitmain S4 (bid below market for new), Spond Sp30 (no bid) and SP20 (bid below market).

Either the market is saturated OR people save money for holidays. Stagnating BTC price is probably another cause.

Nice thread folks, very informational.
One question, i use DUTY calculator that was provided in the middle of the thread and says:
Quote
Notes on duty & taxes rates and compliance Bitcoin Mining is duty free . Bitcoin mining is duty free as USA-Israel free trade agreement applies. A certificate of origin is required for preferential rate to apply. If the product has dual-use, an Export Control Classification Number (ECCN) is required [Some probability].Notes on import taxes due
Please note that your shipping provider may add an additional handling fee
- is this true that if ordered from USA there will be no duty/customs fees>?
p.s. Also it looks like one SP20 makes about 5-10$ a day for current price/diff (dropping pool fees/electricity) - right?

was thinking about getting one or two SP20's but never got to the point as of yet.
thanks

just order 3 or less at a time.  no issues with under 2500 usd purchases.

I am in the USA and I ordered 1 unit 4 different times.  taxes and duty were $0

Anybody here that could compile/build cgminer for Spondoolies SP20 with our extranonce.subscription patch? Basically what would have to be done is to merge this patch with Spoondolies cgminer fork ... If somebody could make please post results in cgminer extranonce.subscribe extension thread. Thanks!

yes, i'm in the UK and no such trade deal exists here. I believe the US adds no duty to your shipments from Israel.
SP20 price won't be this low for much longer. order asap.  Cool

To be fair we don't have duty in the UK on these items either, just VAT. I've had customs try and charge duty on top of VAT for a Bitmain miner in the past because it was described incorrectly in the paperwork.

VAT sucks even if you are a VAT registered business.

yes, that's true. there are flat-rate VAT schemes for small business in the UK which allow you to only pay a proportion of the VAT (under the claim-back method)

I looked at the numbers and either bitcoin price has to increase to $600 or difficulty has to go down 20-30% for current NEW miners to make sense economically.
I wish Spond would position SP20 as a 1.5 TH miner at 1000W for $600, but they know their bill of goods and I don't , so this may be impossible.
BTW, Guy Corem thinks that current miners (0.5-0.7w/Gh) are all becoming uneconomical in the near term.

"Under the current bitcoin value, mining gear efficiency of 0.5–0.7 J/GH range and energy cost, we'll reach equilibrium very soon."

In layman's terms, with bitcoin prices in the sub-$400 range, mining at a difficulty level of 40,000,000,000-plus simply does not make economic sense with current-generation hardware.

.

I have done a lot of math on this and frankly  network growth is going flat. Or BTC will die.

Flat price growth and flat  diff staying  under 45 means an sp20  makes money.

but not a lot of money.

I'd be willing to do some cold weather beta testing for a discounted unit :p

The only problem with that offer.

Meh... You already are 😀

Def. improvement over the SP10 process, but still have to wait for USC to decide if they want to inspect. Those guys are good at holding up commerce.

same here in the UK - where they like to rip labels off.  Undecided
