is bitcoin more popular than US Dollar ?
Nope bitcoin is not more popular than US dollar because US dollar can use it worldwide unlike bitcoin you can only use it if you convert it into a real money. If bitcoin has been accepted by the government and became a legal currency, bitcoin not will be more popular but it will be oftenly used by people worldwide than US Dollar.

Bitcoin will not as popular in terms of usage. It is still USD that will dominate the financial landscape not just US but globally. Local currency of each nation is leverage against USD. And bitcoin currently, is not as popular because its is not yet mass adopted. And with bitcoin, we always need to convert it to fiat to be able to used it to buy things so not all will love to do that. Most want local fiat or converted to USD to strengthen their buying power. So I don't think bitcoin can be as popular as the USD.

USD have been popular for ages. BTC,came along and wow! Its popularity is just like USD.

And its popularity is keep on increasing it is why bitcoin is like USD now. There's no need for bitcoin to compare with USD because we are both depending on it. So if you think that bitcoin suits you the best then go for it or vice versa.

nit quite yet. the posibility of this is remote as of now but I don't think its impossible. I think bitcoin would emerge first as the leading cryptocurrency for years before it can even challenge the dollar

At this time i see the difference between bitcoin and usd. Yes, maybe this is like comparing between gold and money. Well, of course people need more money, but still make money from using bitcoin.

They are still physically different in different technological worlds. But bitcoin keeps relying on the the latest dollar price so they both have a very clear connection, it would be very meaningful if bitcoin in the future becomes a common currency around the world, so there's no need to be official cash allowance for a particular zone.

Bitcoin is definitely not relying on the price of dollar. If dollar disappeared, bitcoin will not be affected at all since we can use the conversion of a different currency or better yet, just don't use any currency conversion at all. The latter is only possible when bitcoin has become mainstream and fiat has finally become totally obsolete and gone. Unfortunately, we're all already dead but that's still not happening. Most people are too scared to not follow the government and just think that they will go to jail for using bitcoins even when their surrounding people are already using it.

Even though BTC is soaring, it cannot overtake the USD for popular currency. BTC is popular because it can be mined and anyone can make money out of it with the right tools.
Why do people always look at how they can earn with Bitcoin (which mostly comes from people gaining satoshis through signature campaigns), instead of Bitcoin's usability as currency?

Browse through the forum and you'll see people say ~ Bitcoin is better than USD because I can earn with it ~ Bitcoin is better than Gold because I make a living from it ~ Bitcoin is better than PayPal because it's an investment.

I could go on and on with such nonsense, but the point should be clear. Everything that you compare with Bitcoin should be compared in a manner that makes sense

I don't see a lot of purpose or sense in talking about Bitcoin's usability as a currency

Basically, there is nothing to talk about since Bitcoin is not used as a currency (for the most part). How can you talk about something in a meaningful way which doesn't even exist (for real)? Indeed, people are talking about Bitcoin as a vehicle for speculation (which is what all their talks come down to) since this is what Bitcoin is primarily used for nowadays. If you are going to object and say something to the tune that Bitcoin is not used as a currency specifically because it is not talked about it being used as a currency, then I let you know that this nonsense, and likely even greater nonsense than people saying "Bitcoin is better than USD because I can earn with it", etc. At least, the latter is true, whether you like it or not (people really earn with Bitcoin)

No i don't think so that bitcoin is more popular than US Dollar because there are more people who use US Dollar than bitcoin.  If bitcoin is more popular than US Dollar them we can use it around the world without converting it in a real money but we can't do that because US Dollar is still more popular than bitcoin and there are still people who still do not use and know about bitcoin.

The dollar is certainly more popular the popularity of bitcoin is growing. Now it is not only a means of payment, but and deposits. The price is constantly growing. I have even seen the Declaration of the state official in provided 400 bitcoins.

is bitcoin more popular than US Dollar ?
If bitcoin is more popular than US dollar, if we can use bitcoin to pay all the materials here in the real world and considering it as a real money without converting it into a real money bitcoin can be popular. But still US DOLLAR is more popular than bitcoin because some people still don't know bitcoin.

is bitcoin more popular than US Dollar ?
If you ask random people whether they knew USD then they would certainly say yes that is almost 90% with regards of those people who are not much connected to the civilization and if you ask them again whether they knew BTC then most likely the answers would be no, they don't.

In this current time, Bitcoin has a long way to run in order to exceed USD. It is not of the value it is measured how great a currency is or how popular it is but in its usage especially in the world market.
Your first part is right but second mean Bitcoin has long wayt to run in to exceed USD is not true because Bitcoin cannot exceed USD its a real currency and using by many countries for trade and their own necessities and bitcoin never can replace this because no country going to adopt this in near future

We should not compare bitcoin to usd because they are different but they are the same in their service because they serves as a currency to us and we can use them to pay our bills online or buy some prepaid loads for our prepaid sim cards and a lot more. In my country bitcoin is not that popular as usd but because of the news, it is getting a little bit more attention than before.

At the moment, only 2% of the world's population knows about bitcoin. And maybe even less. Therefore, it makes no sense to talk about the opposition of the dollar and bitcoin. Bitcoin is popular only in a small community, and the dollar is popular all over the world
It all depends on the state of the U.S. economy. If for any reason the dollar collapses the world will be looking for a new reserve currency. Why this currency may not be bitcoin? The modern world is changing very fast and we don't know what can happen tomorrow.

Behave yourself bro. Bitcoin can't be a reserve currency while there are early adopting people like Roger Ver with hundreds/thousands of bitcoins in their wallets who will be holding their coins no matter what the price will become in the future.

If bitcoin ever becomes a reserve currency, people like those early adopters will become so rich that they will be able to buy countries. Nobody can allow that.

"Nobody can allow that".  Well.  What happened to the USA?  And so many other places?  Exactly what you describe.

However, with fiat, the people who have "a lot in their wallets" really have an unlimited amount in their wallets.  "Let me issue the currency and I care not who makes the laws"  etc. etc.  They can issue as much as they like at any time, and if you are willing to part for your resources in exchange for this paper, you are easily bought out.  With bitcoin and other public cryptos the amount is limited.

Bitcoin represents the end of financial colonialism.  About fucking time Smiley

You seem to be still thinking in pre-Bitcoin terms

Indeed, money is not wealth itself, and with that point which you didn't express explicitly I massively agree. That said, it still doesn't mean that Bitcoin can't become a full-fledged global currency like the US dollar. There are technical issues preventing this (as I said in my previous post in this thread), but apart from them, there is basically nothing which could be construed as "nobody can allow that". Nobody is going to sell you a country, that's certainly true, but this is as applicable to Bitcoin as to any other money out there (US dollar included). In other words, money cannot buy power since power is not bought but taken (typically with force)
