At the moment, only 2% of the world's population knows about bitcoin. And maybe even less. Therefore, it makes no sense to talk about the opposition of the dollar and bitcoin. Bitcoin is popular only in a small community, and the dollar is popular all over the world
It all depends on the state of the U.S. economy. If for any reason the dollar collapses the world will be looking for a new reserve currency. Why this currency may not be bitcoin? The modern world is changing very fast and we don't know what can happen tomorrow.

Behave yourself bro. Bitcoin can't be a reserve currency while there are early adopting people like Roger Ver with hundreds/thousands of bitcoins in their wallets who will be holding their coins no matter what the price will become in the future.

If bitcoin ever becomes a reserve currency, people like those early adopters will become so rich that they will be able to buy countries. Nobody can allow that.

I do not understand why I should compare these currencies. The dollar is for the government, and bitcoin is for the people. So it was from the very beginning of the existence of bitcoin. And bitcoin will never replace the dollar

Both Bitcoin and dollar are used by the people and people will choose one over the other considering the good option both the currency would give. Online, bitcoin is the best and for the offline , USD is the only option in the US. We cannot say one is better than the other. Both have the past god records and both have the bright future.

Agree, I still do not understand why comparing this currency. Dollars and bitcoins are mutually attached to each other, Dollars for offline, bitcoin for online.
If there is no dollar how to exchange bitcoin, and vice versa.
Dollars and bitcoins will be popular until whenever Smiley

I guess Bitcoin doesn't quite cut it yet

If the US dollar were to collapse tomorrow, Bitcoin wouldn't be able to take its place, let's remain realists here. Right now only a few million people are actively using Bitcoin and we still still plenty of unprocessed transactions (and this is the upper limit, while the real number can be lower than that). Increasing block size can be only an interim measure, in the long run it still leads nowhere. We need solutions that are scalable and luckily there are a few such solutions already on the go but they are not implemented yet and it will take time before we get there (given all the infighting inside Bitcoin groups)

Clear answer is no.
Thanks to Bretton Woods System, USD is clearly a dominating currency of the world. We can say bitcoin is popular but comparing it to USD is like comparing Earth to Sun!

You are right we can not predict the future of the world. Anything can occur in this fast growing world. USD may collapse, and BTC may become legal currency. But this is over expectation. As mate told on top is right still less than 2% people know about this Bitcoin all over the world. But it is fast growing digital currency in the world. Let's see in future BTC will replace the USD or not.

Bitcoin has a market capitalization of 7 billion. I think I can say it's impossible to put both of them on the same plate. I can say that both are quite popular for him.

It's impossible and never being a true thing in the future. Bitcoin still always be pegged on the dollar itself. and you're wrong bitcoin has 19 billion market capitalization right now.

There are people who are too positive about bitcoin that it will replace USD but they did not realize that the value
of bitcoin is based on USD. It's good to be realistic despite the success of bitcoin.

is bitcoin more popular than US Dollar ?
No.But it has started to gain popularity slowly.US dollar has been as Global reserve currency for the past 70 years.Petrol is sold only in US Dollars.US dollars can be exchanged universally in any country. But bitcoi has just crossed its initial eight years. There are more people who dont even have bank account and dont know about credit card and digital transactions. But bitcoin is a digital currency. So it would take years for bitcoin to get popularity more than US dollars.
If we talk about popularity, of course usd is more popular than usd. I agree with you that bitcoin would take years to be more popular than usd becose bitcoin is a new consept of payment system. The politic condition of usa is bouncing when mr trumph elected as president, so the investors are worried about invest in there then makes the inflation higher and the price is dropping, so if we talk about investment and usage, I think bitcoin is better than usd.

yeah truth. Both of them are good and we can not determine which is better because they are not as same as each other. However, I do believe that soono one of them will be replaced by the other

Bitcoin was never opposed to the dollar. He was not his enemy. These are two wonderful assets, thanks to which you can increase your capital. Just need to be able to use the difference in the price of these assets.

I do not understand why I should compare these currencies. The dollar is for the government, and bitcoin is for the people. So it was from the very beginning of the existence of bitcoin. And bitcoin will never replace the dollar
It can't be compared in all of the conditions. eaither are different commodity. USD as a legal fiat money can't be threatened by bitcoin as illegal commodity based on the goverment's regulation.
Both are need each other. There is no reason to compare both of the currency. remember bitcoin price is pegged with the dollar itself.

Why is the price of bitcoins tied to the dollar? I was sure that the price of bitcoin is not tied to any currency. Simply, each country expresses the cost of bitcoin in a convenient form for the people. If the dollar falls, people will look for an alternative. Maybe it will be bitcoin

Because they see the Bitcoin price quoted in US dollars

There are quite a few things which are priced in dollars and most likely anything which can be priced as such has already been priced in dollars. Bananas are priced in dollars, gas is priced in dollars, other currencies are priced in dollars. Wtf, even gold is priced in US dollars! But does it mean that all these things are somehow "tied" to the wretched American dollar or their value somehow depends on the dollar? There are so many things that allegedly depend on it that we could actually wonder if it is not too much for something which is basically paper to make so many things to depend on it? Could it in fact be quite the other way round?

Dollar is for the people also and it is the most popular currency in the world IMO, bitcoin is for the humanity but not all
will be able to adopt with it especially if it is not supported by the government.

Indeed the dollar usa has a fairly high popularity around the world, as the USA is a super power countries have many branches of industry cooperation with most countries in the world. So that their currency is widely used by most countries in the world, because it is indeed the USA is a country that is quite unusual in midwife economy. But behind the popularity of the Dollar, I see a country that will replace the position of the dollar is the yuan (China). where I see now the Chinese have high enough change and it is possible the country will accept bitcoin because his system is good enough
