So why the original developer deserted it?
Coz he was too busy with other projects... Nobody really regrets his departure, tho

Developer jamesl22 posted an update about elasticity:

Quote
I'm going to implement elasticity over the summer, I would have done it sooner but I have been more focused on my studies due to final exams for University admission etc. I don't think elasticity on its own can "save" Vertcoin, it has more than enough features for it to be a usable currency, it just doesn't have the backing compared with the bigger ones.

voephilisI, also we have a big inflation.
about 36K new coins every day.

actually, 28800 new coins mined per day:

Quote
Blocks in the Vertcoin network are solved on average every 2.5 minutes, and the current reward for solving each block is 50 Vertcoin. These two figures together reveal the rate at which Vertcoin can be “mined” across the entire network: on average, 576 blocks or 28,800 Vertcoin per day.

great to see that our devs were last time active James: February and Adam: December...

last update on blog was in March. and price is falling more and more.

look at NOBL if you want to know what missing updates can do to a coin ^^

Price actually seems quite stable around 4k sat. Stability without elasticity...imagine that.

I seriously think VTC needs to look at a future evolution that incorporates nodes that provide services.
Thanks for the valuable input.
Now let me elaborate my overall opinion: no, thanks.

I have some ideas to increes Vertcoin popularity:
1) At https://bitcoinwisdom.com/ add Poloniex, Bittrex as charts of VTC
2) At https://www.cryptsy.com/ create vote for VTC/USD pair, and make votes
3) Make some card game, like poker, server with VTC as major money
Great Ideas!
Go for them and let us know if you need any help!
I make first https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.11047130
And send request to cryptsy
But i don't know how organize card playing server Smiley
