I'm curious as to why it is called 'vertcoin'?
Vert means green in french. Thus we're "greencoin". On the whole it's a name I've grown to like.

OK we want this coin to be the best, can we brainstorm some ideas?
i see there is a lot of people willing to work to make this happen.

I know something you don't...

I was already going to tell you all to hold this coin, but this time I mean it - don't tell me I didn't warn you all.

That's the last I'm saying.  Cool

Annnnd I canceled my sell orders   Cool

i have been crying here several times how p2pool was not consistently paying me.  i would get on the payout list and all of the sudden i would be off it, even though i kept mining throughout.

i decided to create my own node and see what happens.  i have mined all night last night, and not once did i get off the payout list.  i have consistently been getting payouts, FOR EVERY BLOCK!

if you are getting shit results from p2p, just create your own node!  i run mine on virtual box instance of linux.  it was a bit strange setting it up but once i got it up and running, it has been smooth sailing with P2P!

one thing i noticed is that my miner shows a SHIT TON of HW and zero WU.  i thought it was a problem, but the payouts are coming in so maybe it something with my node config.  if anyone could shed some light on this, i would be grateful.  i am the only miner on my node, if that helps.

Luthan,

You say you run p2pool in a VM, does it have to be run that way?
Would it be possible to run this in a chroot jail?

I'd think a jail would be less overhead than a fullblown VM...
Asking because I want to try this tomorrow. Out of curiosity mostly.

i mine on my windows pc, and that's the only pc i have.  i tried running the node in windows, but python kept crashing.  so i made a virtual box with just 512mb of ram, and its doing the job.  my main box has 8gb, so i still have enough ram for mining, which has been going pretty steady.  making my own p2p node was the best decision, have been getting steady payments all day.  anyone telling you that sporadic payments is normal, is lying to you or has no idea what they are talking about.

Oh, I didn't built it guys, just bumped into it Smiley But thanks for putting it on OP page.

Btw, I've been trying to convince guys from http://coinmarketcap.com/ to include volumes from Bter.com, so that we could have more accurate picture of VTC's market cap, the thread is here:

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/coinmarketcapcom-market-cap-rankings-of-all-cryptocurrencies-199685

If someone else could also post there for them to include bter.com trades that would help speed up the process

Just sent some BTC to BTER to buy VTC, any idea how long that'll take to be available?

Should be faster than Crypty, but a ballpark figure would be nice...

Edit: Oh, already there, lol! Yeah, that's faster!
