Don't get me wrong. I am not trying to hate on you, but I was just going based on the contents of your earlier post, and I am not even trying to proclaim some kind of guru status, yet I still have come to believe that your framing of upper limits on BTC (as you had done) was showing your lack of appreciation of dee cornz... whether you actually understand BTC or not (and/or you were merely just faking it out) seems somewhat besides the point.
Huh?

I already made my point.. in both posts.. You seem to have already made your point.. somewhat.. ..

In other words, why repeat what has already been said... - seems to be no need to belabor these points any further.

Isn't kyc wonderful.  I wonder which breach allowed him or her to get my name, phone, email and address.
My BTC Address: 1J7bvsov27GPY77t17f7QSgYBgKuRdPEw
I do wonder who the guy or girl is that tried to blackmail me.
https://www.bitcoinwhoswho.com/address/1J7bvsov27GPY77t17f7QSgYBgKuRdPEw
Tag this guy just in case he's stupid enough to get tracked on chain in the future.

This is why most of my accounts have been closed as I refuse to KYC.

I wonder how helpful such a thing might be?  You have to log in to see tags, yet it appears that you do not need to log in in order to be able to tag a bitcoin address.

[edited out]
Not likely but what if this f**kstain has generated a unique address for each victim and by depositing into it has made the scammer aware that Phillipma (albeit Heuristic in this case) has made a deposit?
This might spur him/her/them on to increase their attempts for further extortion?
I would have just left it well alone.
Thoughts?

Ignoring tends to be pretty powerful within the space of attempting to phish, including paying it would put the person on a "more likely to bite" list (which is likely more valuable) than the list of those who have not yet bitten.

It seems that many people have gotten wiser in regards to their attempts to scam the scammers, and I know historically, I would hear various folks telling me about how they engaged with a potential scammer in this way or in that way and it seems that those kinds of engagements do not tend to be good ideas.... and sure, there might be exceptions.. yet as a general rule, don't engage seems a decently solid approach.

Although an interesting angle on this one is that many of us could just spam the address with a bunch of dust transactions.. which may well end up playing out as a BIG ass waste of time, since what is the purpose exactly?  Just to say, "hey, scammer wannabe, we are watching one of the BTC addresses that you are never going to use again."

This is actually a slightly-reworded script. Its not even original text:

https://safecomputing.umich.edu/phishing-alerts/extortion-email-name-address-and-photo-home-2024-09-16-000000

So yeah its completely bogus. Sorry that happened to you. There's a lot of shitheads in the world.

Since you have been hanging around these parts for only about a year and a half, maybe "we" could give you a bit of a break, yet surely you don't seem to understand dee cornz very well.
I well do understand thus why I don't usually a price for it to reach.
We have been hanging around this period for months,  yeah I know there has been some economical, political,  maybe a lil legal instability but I just want to see a new ATH
Hence using $80K.
Thought maybe if I say will never reach $80K, it would enter the 6 digit this year.

That is ridiculous.

Yes.  I know about and I have heard about reverse psychology, yet from my perspective, whatever that is worth, framing your earlier response as a form of reverse psychology still does not improve it in the various ways that I had already criticized it.

Price is still around production cost. Come on!

Phil?  is that you?

We broke 64.5k guys

Just sayin'
Next stop 66666?
Maybe if everyone in WO listened to this song all day - although I doubt there's a good chance we'll break $65k today.

That is a pretty neat song and video.  I was familiar with the song, but I had not really even thought too much about its meaning or even how great of a singer Mick Jagger is within that song including how well the song was otherwise put together.. It almost has a kind of Bob Dylan feeling with the lyrics, too.

I've never seen this message before and I'm not even wearing my VPN.

I think it's because you are a Canuck.  Discrimination.. just saying.

Isn't kyc wonderful.  I wonder which breach allowed him or her to get my name, phone, email and address.  Even a photo of my house was included.
"PHILIP Axxxxxx,

It's important you pay attention to this message right now. Take a minute to relax, breathe, and really dig into it. 'Cause we're about to discuss a deal between you and me, and I don't play games. You do not know me but I know EVERYTHING about you and right now, you are wondering how, correct?
Well, you've been treading on thin ice with your browsing habits, clicking through those girlie videos and clicking on links, stumbling upon some not-so-safe sites. I placed a Malware on a porn website & you visited it to watch(you get my drift). When you were busy watching videos, your system started working as a RDP (Remote Protocol) which allowed me total control over your device. I can look at everything on your screen, switch on your cam and mic, and you wouldn't even notice. Oh, and I've got access to all your emails, contacts, and social media accounts too.
Been keeping tabs on your pathetic existence for a while now. It's just your hard luck that I accessed your misadventures. I gave in more time than I should've looking into your data. Extracted quite a bit of juicy info from your system. and I've seen it all. Yeah, Yeah, I've got footage of you doing filthy things in your room (nice setup, by the way). I then developed videos and screenshots where on one side of the screen, there's the videos you had been playing, and on the other half, its someone doing filthy things. With just a single click, I can send this garbage to every single of your contacts.
Your confusion is clear, but don't expect sympathy. Actually, I am willing to wipe the slate clean, and allow you to continue with your regular life and wipe your slate clean. I am about to present you two options.
First Alternative is to turn a deaf ear this mail. You should know what is going to happen if you opt this path. Your video will get sent to your contacts. The video was straight fire, and I can't even fathom the humiliation you'll endure when your colleagues, friends, and fam watch it. But hey, that's life, ain't it? Don't be playing the victim here.
Second wise option is to pay me, and be confidential about it. We’ll call this my “confidentiality tip”. Now let me tell you what happens when you select this choice. Your secret will remain private. I'll destroy all the data and evidence once you come through with the payment. You'll transfer the payment through Bitcoins only. Pay attention, I'm telling you straight: 'We gotta make a deal'. I want you to know I'm coming at you with good intentions. I'm a person of integrity.
Required Amount: USD 1950
My BTC Address: 1J7bvsov27GPY77t17f7QSgYBgKuRdPEw
Once you pay up, you'll sleep like a baby. I keep my word.
Important: You now have one day to transfer the amount and I will only accept Bitcoins (I've a unique pixel within this e-mail, and at this moment I know that you have read this email). My system will catch that Bitcoin payment and wipe out all the dirt I got on you. Don't even think about replying to this or negotiating, it's pointless. The email and wallet are custom-made for you, untraceable. If I suspect that you've shared or discussed this email with anyone else, the shitty video will instantly start getting sent to your contacts. And don't even think about turning off your phone or resetting it to factory settings. It's pointless. I don't make mistakes, PHILIP.
Nice locality btw"

Pretty well written, and a bit entertaining.

The funny thing is I don't have any cameras  to photo my sex life so it is a fake attempt to get money.

There usually is some kind of a clue that there is something amiss, and usually there are grammar mistakes or something about the rendition of the facts (data gathered or something) that ends up showing that the person likely does not have the goods.

Besides I would not care if my sex life was sent to the net.

I would monetize it by doing old man sex videos and how to tips and tricks.

Hahahahaha.. that's another good set of cards to have in your pocket.

I do wonder who the guy or girl is that tried to blackmail me.

At this point in time, I am going to deny it, you bull dawg, you.   Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

Well, anything for the corn but wtf?

someone summon JJG, that one gets past those "prove yer human" tests all the time

As Lurch has been summoned.. Can I help it that there happens to be a wee bit of discrimination (if you insist on calling it that?) against Canucks?

As C3P0 is my witness, I did not do nuttin.

Isn't kyc wonderful.  I wonder which breach allowed him or her to get my name, phone, email and address.  Even a photo of my house...
~snip
Holy crap!  What kind of hacker is going to write a book like that to demand money?  Jesus... who has the time and patience to read all that?  Reminds me of our own, beloved JJG... hey, waitaminute

I already denied it.

See above.   Tongue

On another note, I did read the whole thing, and I found the presentation to be interesting/entertaining (see above for that disclosure, too).

It could be someone who is trying to imitate me?  Perhaps?

Perhaps, it is really an attack on me, yet going through Philip?  Anyone ever think about that?

It's complete crap, hopefully you all realize this. Scammer simply ties email, name, etc from a billion breaches to make it look "personal"

For awhile these things would get a quarter million per campaign. Nowadays not so much.
