What are these speculations based on? Althought, I'd say hell yes to BTC being worth $5000,- per coin but I can't really see this happen.
Potential value of one bitcoin: https://i.imgur.com/zh5ibyH.jpg

Replace "bitcoin" in that chart with "Yugoslavian postage stamps", it will "prove" that those stamps may be worth a fortune one day.

The little detail that is missing in that "proof" is why is why the key word in that chart is "bitcoin", rather than "litecoin", "GoogleCoin", "WellsFargoCoin", "USACoin", or even "Yugoslavian postage stamps".  Or the old US dollar.

People often joke that "America has the worst form of government on the planet except for all the others." It ain't perfect.

And it certainly isn't better than all the others.  It has strengths and weaknesses in comparison to other large nation-states, and those are a matter of taste.  There are small nation-states which have systems which are vastly preferable to the U.S. system, in my opinion, but they are generally special cases.  Iceland is not too bad.  Norway is fairly tolerable.  I could almost stand Scotland.  Singapore is rather decent.  Chile, quite nice.  Conceivably Paraguay.  But then I've not lived there long enough to see the worst aspects, to judge how deeply they disturb me.

We should get together and buy an island with bitcoins, call it Satoshi Island and have the currency as BTC of course, use the bitcoin protocol to vote trade etc.. and live happily ever after.

Haha..remember http://www.sealandgov.org/ guys?

things you own end up owning you
there could be a reversal if this trend continue, I would consider buying back if we hold the 570 and/or if we shoot up to 600 this weekend,  it would be safer by then.

You are bipolar - changing your mind quite fast. Yesterday was doom and gloom, today is sunshine.

this is what traders do, they follow trends and make profits from the predicted moves, I have been doing ok from analyzing my charts lately.... I left the to "da moon" and "CCMF" and "show me the blood" a couple of months ago and I see it is working for me.

Not true. Most traders don't make profits.

I dont know about most, but I sure do Wink

I hope you're joking. We should gather in one place so was could all be taken out with a single missile? You seem to have trouble grasping the concept of a why we'd want a distributed, decentralized system in the first place.

Compared to the Parliamentary System in Canada I have always thought that the Presidential System in the USA and many other countries around the world is a breath of fresh air.

Imagine having a system where you vote for someone who ends up voting for the leader of your country...that's basically how it works in Canada.  In Canada, our leader shows up for work in the House of Commons (Canada's form of the House of Representatives) every day...the Senate and the Governor General (Canada's form of a President) are just figureheads.

...the middle class is pretty much disappearing.

Edit: sorry, for international folks this post is very US-centric...

It's an interesting topic, the shrinking middle class. It was easier once upon a time to just say, "hey auto workers, sorry but develop some other skill." But more and more industries are falling into this pit of either "industry sent overseas" or "industry has been automated."

Today, what industry can an autoworker retrain for? We don't make much of anything here anymore. And we keep giving away newer industries like green tech. And now we're taking our sweet time on Bitcoin tech while other nations more quickly allow for growth in this industry.

I believe America will fall on very hard times for quite a long time because we simply have been making too much money for too long. We're accustomed to it; many feel entitled to it. Unions have made us believe we're worth more than the market wants to pay. Hubris has made us believe we are worth more than the world wants to pay. Couple this with disappearing/automated industries and it spells trouble.

An example of this is a web development company I worked for some time ago. They decided if they couldn't charge at least $50,000 for a web site then they didn't want the contract. Needless to say, web sites came down in price since then and this company went out of business for lack of being "hungry."

So I think America will have some hard times coming, perhaps rightfully so. Great place to live but everyone needs to relearn lessons now and again. The pendulum swings. Fortunately I am over the hill and could kick the bucket before it gets too bad. I'm not a "stockpile beans and guns" kind of person so I wouldn't last long anyway.

Since what happen in US affects (most "western") countrys i wouldnt label it "us-centric".
Sadly US politics is used as a template for copycat in a lot of nations.
