There will be the standard several-weeks' time delay for that surge, though. Still, even discounting all of that, I think we're going up toward the ATH and within a week or two, then beyond. (Very very short-term fall is possible.)

well, its not like im going to sell for fiat but okay then.

Getting a little altcoin action on the side? Bitcoin is a jealous bitch, watch out! Grin

oh?

Yes, definitely. As I recall, 18% of American males say they use reddit/r/gonewild. Biggest Bitcoin exposure ever on reddit perhaps, as well as the most positive and investment-oriented. Upvoted to like 4000, which is serious frickin' exposure. Plus the story was fromt and center on just about every other news site's tech section. And it was a pedestrian story in the Bitcoin world. The rocket was ready to launch already, but now...I don't even know what could happen.

211 on Gox. 620 BTC to 210, couple hundred more at 210 than an hour ago.

Enabling the maximal migration

Yeah not so surprising really as it was top 10 on yahoo and google yesterday and since that is probably a monthly rating it includes both the silk road and most recent media spike

They don't understand what backs Bitcoin and when I point out it's backed by whatever I'm or anyone else is voluntarily willing to trade for it they quit talking about it and end off with the "I just don't know" ultimately it depends who you talk to.

I'm hoping the media sparks more in-depth research.

Perhaps the bitcoin distribution model is carefully designed to retain the coins in hands of the intelligent, the honest and the simple:
- intelligent hear about it first and being relatively rich and/or tech-savvy, can acquire many
- honest have distrust and disdain towards fiat, so convert to bitcoin easily and have no urge to sell
- simple see that others have become rich and just imitate them by buying and holding.

bam

well, this might be distorted... there was a post on reddit and subsequent editing of the article. So it received more attention. Probably doesn't reflect an equal increase of public interest in bitcoin.

Is Gox frozen or something? I see like 2 or 3 trades in the last half hour. Site seems up though.

I am a Canadian, and I'm sorry.
Checks out, he is Canadian!

lol, check on what everyone says?
Just that as a Canadian they stereotypical say sorry. That's all I was saying.

they are known for being polite Smiley
And if you ask a question they will always preface it with "I think" even when they are 100% sure.r

I'm Canadian too, unless that's a problem... most knowledgeable folk who have a great public sector job when discussing Bitcoin are invested in the current system. They want there house to maintain or increase in value, they think we're in a tight spot and QE and Canada's "Action Plan" stimulus is working out.
