looking at the previous year eth is very low and in 2017 eth is very high, and now back down very significantly, I think if you want to invest in alctoin choose ETH, because it is the parent of all existing altcoins

in my opinion no, Altcoin is like a place to collect Bitcoin. if there is, maybe it is Ethereum, Waves, Ltc and some old altcoins that still exist. if you want to invest, you should invest in Bitcoin. it's safer than a scam, be careful investing in ICO, because most of the tokens when released on the market have dump prices. wait to be really down, then you can buy and hold it.
Check out ripple many banks and institutions has start using ripple for their transactions and the price is low now which is a good time to buy
For me the altcoins for now its good to invest is ethereum because the price of ethereum for now is cheap buy and hold and wait for the longterm trade.

I still doing good with ethereum and I hold some ethereum for the investment and I use the other ethereum to do day trading or when I can see the price can moves high and low too often. but I do not only have ethereum for the investment because I have the other coin like ada, trx, neo, zcl, monero and many more as the investment. I think that soon when the market can be back to recover, this coin will increase again and I can make a big profit. but I also know that this will not happen in the short time and I need to be patient.
ETH, XRP, XLM, ADA, EOS, NEO,.....There are so many good altcoins to invest in although all these altcoins are dumping because of down trend

I am agreed in some people here to invest in ethereum and in Ripple. Maybe I can consider Qtum for this end of the year. They have the purposes that aren't just normal they have the ability that can change the future if you are going to think about it. Ethereum supports many tokens and that is one of the reasons why it is good in holding.
