I dont use one, only common sense. For years w/o infection. I only have adblock on my browser.
Open .pdf's online, and test new programs in sandbox or VM. No sense in paying for what you dont need.

I don't tell because I'm not sure what hackers can do with such information.

What Anti-virus are you using now to protect your device? And why did you choose this one?

Since I migrated to the MacOS, I stopped worrying about antivirus, but I believe the best antivirus market is Kaspersky.
In fact .. the best antivirus is one that is between the notebook and the chair.

I used to like Bitdefender, because it would do its things quietly, if you enable the quiet mode.. not sure what the real name for that mode was.
It used to be the perfect solution for people who don't know how to stay safe who are interested in pirating, it would detect the most common threats and it used to have a neat firewall

I've tried different antivirus like Avast, AVG, Avira, Kaspersky but until now the best of them is ESET.
Among them, ESET has the lowest memory consumption. So it should run smoothly with low-end devices.
It also scans your files automatically and has a good web monitor, prevents you from visiting untrusted sites and also detects if someone has a duplicate IP within your network.
Even you won't bother letting a kid use your PC because you know it's safe.
I'm just sharing my experience as a tech support.  Smiley
