If we've understood about gambling in the right way we'll console ourselves not to get upset or frustrated on losing. When I was new to gambling I've cried for days with the doors locked. Those are days when my mind had a thought we'll win out of gambling and the loss wasn't acceptable.
Sorry, but where's the fun if you don't feel mad/sad when you lose or happy when you win? It's good and even necessary to be able to control your emotions when gambling but not to the point not to feel anything.
Sometimes, when I hit a long losing streak, I get mad and unconsciously start cursing and yelling, few moments later I start laughing on myself and on how I reacted.

I don't believe it's possible to be disconnected from feeling anything like a machine. You have to be psychically damaged not to feel any regret after a loss, or you have to be playing with so much money that you don't even care. For different people this is going to be a different amount but if you earn 10k a month and go gamble for an hour with $100 you won't even care if it ends up being a loss.
Normal, healthy people feel emotions. We feel the joy of winning and the pain of losing. People who say they don't are in denial.

Actually, the frustration mostly comes depending on the amount that you've lost. As for me, things were fun and all whether I win or not but after a while, I keep winning and accumulating more funds and got greedy which made me end up losing all of it and that's where frustration and other negative feeling comes on. However, after I got out of the addiction that gambling brought me, I was able to avoid these scenarios.

Speaking of frustration, of course all gamblers have experienced it. in fact I'm sure, frustration comes and goes, especially when we experience consecutive losses. and vice versa, joy and fun also come and go when we get big profits in a gambling session.

well, so I think this is a common thing and can happen again and again to all of us. as you said, when we are controlled by emotions or high ego. not infrequently, we continue to carry out gambling sessions even though we are already making a profit. however, because of greed, wanting to get even higher, in the end, we unknowingly spend hours and hours and in the end the table is the winner. any negative feelings arise, especially wanting to make a deposit again to recover losses. completely, what you said is common to all of us gamblers.

but in essence, what Op is asking is what motivates us to gamble. well, I think the answer will be very diverse and very relative. even so, many people would agree. that the underlying motive is none other than to get as much profit as possible from fun things.

Sometimes, when I hit a long losing streak, I get mad and unconsciously start cursing and yelling, few moments later I start laughing on myself and on how I reacted.

I don't see any fun when I am mad when I am losing big or after I have lost all my money during a gambling session. However I have won two consecutive weeks in my last two consecutive sessions and the feeling of being very happy it was a feeling I really love. That is because no one has fun when he is losing money while everybody is happy when he is winning money and even happier when he is winning big.

If you after some moments of yelling and cursing starts to laugh then you have some personal problems, you cannot pass from a state to another state in such a short time.

Emotions can really affect your gameplay that's the reason why don't get play when you are too much anger or happy because this may affect your decision making like if you are getting mad because you lose a lot of money, there's a probability that you can make a revenge game like betting an all in which is too much risk with that next is you win a lot of money, and you want to play more because hoping to win another round you expect more that might cause of losing consecutively.

Take a break and enjoy the game. This is how the satisfaction is in gambling.
If you play gambling without emotions, then it turns into work, and how then to enjoy the gaming process? Then a strange dilemma arises: either you relax and gamble for your own pleasure, rejoicing or worrying about your results, but most likely losing money; or you pause your emotions and strictly follow your chosen strategy, increase your deposit, but this process will be less pleasant in terms of pleasure. Therefore, you will have to choose how to play.

It's discouraging how you say it, but it's the truth, when I play I don't think if I'm going to win but if I'm going to lose the money I put in that casino, it's easier to assimilate it, if you expect to win it's hard because if you don't start frustration and that is a bad thought, there are players who only play to play and have a lot of money, they don't enjoy when they win, they don't care when they lose, they also have a lot of money and they don't care, a casino has and needs players of all styles, players who always seek to win do so in a micro way, it is not enough because the effort is a lot, and most likely they live very upset by stress.

I do not know about you guys, but I gamble because I like it and because it is a hobby as well as an addiction. I'm good with myself, as I already admitted to having an addiction but tried to find and apply techniques to avoid getting off track and spending all of my money on gambling. It's quite easy for me to control my gambling anxiety as I already follow strict rules that help me stay on the line.

What about you guys? Do you have any addiction to gambling? What drives you to gamble? Is it the long shot of having a big profit coming in or is gambling simply a way of spending time for you?

Most people really tend to gamble out of hobby. Some perceive it as a fun way to release stress and to entertain themselves. However, some go beyond their limitations, thus some people develop bad gambling habits and even addiction.

It's good that you are self-aware that you have gambling addiction and is already trying your best to avoid spending your hard-earned funds over it. However, it's still best if you will consult to a professional for this matter because it isn't a habit that you will just outgrow or just be healed overnight. It requires intervention and you have to accept that fact. But still, kudos for finding your own little ways to alleviate gambling habits that aren't helpful to you at all.

I don't have gambling addiction because whenever I try to discover something new or to risk sometimes, I make sure to limit myself with specific fund allocation and time as well. Gambling might be different for most of us. Some gamble because of entertainment, some do it for the profit. I guess I do it for both whenever I try to. It's a matter of preferences, so we should do what we think suits us best.

Gambling means uncertainty, but if it favour oneself then anything good can come out. Gambling requires diligence. One of the tendencies in the gamblers' can be noticed that they want to get more in short time. Due to this tendency, they forget the general strategy, rules and the regulations in their gambling. Nothing can be found from the gamblers except addiction at a time. I continue to try how to do better in gambling in the coming days. On the weekend i usually plan my gambling roadmap for the next week. During holidays i like to plan my free time with it which gives me much pleasure.

For me, If I know that there is a huge luck coming when I bet on the game. There are times that I just spend my extra money and even If I will win or lose it doesn't matter also if the online casino are providing bonuses such as deposit bonuses or cashback.

We know that most gamblers rely on luck to win big money. Money is the main motive of all gamblers. Others gamble so they can share with others if they get lucky, while others just want to have fun and relieve stress, but sometimes it causes more problems, especially if you run out of money just because of gambling.
sharing luck with others? i never saw something like this because luck will only come to you and lucky if your playing with the team but you cannot literally share this mate.

For me, I gamble to add something to my savings using my extra money,  we know that the longer we play, the more we will lose. So if we win, we can go out to be safe, but if we lose, it doesn't hurt too much.😁

that is what we must do , taking your funds out once you win already and never play longer because that is what we  will lose in chasing more wins while we already  having good wins.

Yes, because naturally nobody loves to lose money, but moreover, that's where the beauty of gambling comes into play, that is, being able to control our emotions at every moment whether winning or losing, as those are the only two possible outcomes that can always come out of every gambling event. Which is why it's always good to take a calculated risk.

This is actually what makes gambling a funny activity. It's the sensations and feelings you get while you play whether you lose or win, happy or frustrated.. However, frustration should be temporary and don't last for long otherwise gambling won't be funny anymore and you may start making bad decisions like trying to chase losses.
Somehow I never found this gambling funny. I've always been serious about gambling, but of course I've also had a lot of fun. Frustration and chasing losses are bad for those who gamble responsibly, but both feelings are always there for those who are addicted.

Oh wait, I'm an addict too and sometimes I get upset over losing but it seems like that feeling only lasts for a few minutes before I do anything else.  Wink

Actually that's frustrating scenario and I bet that's not fun anymore especially when your starting to lose all your winnings then chasing back again hoping to win the same amount for another round. These scenarios should be corrected since this is not healthy anymore and we should gamble according to our game plan set together with the amount we only intended to use to avoid getting mistakes and get angry with the result.

Frustration and all those regrets after making bad decision things that we can't avoid while playing or gambling on whatever types of gambling we take, proper handling of the situation is a good key for your acceptance, when you lose you need to move forward and not to dwell with that situation, it will worsen the situation if you will keep dwelling as aggression will rise inside you and you will try to keep chasing and in the end you will realize that you just lost more because of trying to win back those amount.

While if you know how to move forward and re-assess your mistake, your chance to enjoy and win is better on your next try.

More on weighting, either you are on the money side or you are just killing time when playing/gambling.

The influence of friends in gambling is also a strong motivating force behind many gamblers that exist today because they wouldn't have been so without the role of their friends who could have triggered them to starting from somewhere, the reality is that gamblers will always want to influence each other because of the passion they have for gambling and their eagerness in seeing their friends also gambling together with them, our gambling friends encourages us sometimes we feel like not gambling and from there we got the motivation and thier ideas and suggestions sometimes also help in gambling right and winning especially if they were more experienced than us.
Having a gambling friend is own of the factors that do make people to consider taking a move on gambling because they see there friend doing that and making money which so look like they themselves can make money too from gambling. Friends is one of the major factors that can influence people to gamble more because they have a person that do motivate them.

Hmm my first experience with gambling (taking lotteries and bets between friends aside) was sports betting. I placed some small wager on a combination bet for a few football matches (or for Americans - soccer) and it made watching the game waaay more exciting. So that was my introduction to gambling. I wasn't particularly interested in online casinos type games until I joined this forum and started to experiment with crypto-casinos as there were plenty of promotional offers back in the days and it was actually easy to make a profit.

I never felt addicted to gambling nor ever felt that I can't take control of it. I made some bigger losses, which hurt a bit for a while, but never lost more than I could afford to lose.

Right now I'm just limiting myself to occasional small bets, playing a bit of poker from time to time and taking advantage of good value events bets if an opportunity comes along.

I think it's a good idea to keep your gambling funds separate from other funds, i.e. in a separate account, sub-account, or just as a deposit to your trusted platform(s) + having a cap of say a certain amount from your monthly pay and keeping an iron discipline. And of course, don't allow yourself to get too emotionally engaged, you should be able to just shrug any losses off if they happen. Trying to desperately "win it back" is a recipe for disaster.
