My colleagues were into gambling during my college days. They were all busy during our vacant hours which made me feel curious about what they were doing. One of them inteoduced it to me without even saying any warning or reminder about its risk. Since I was still young during that time, I even thought that I'll get rich through it and I can easily sustain my college expenses through it. Because of that wrong minset, I took my monthly allowance at risk and bet all of it and I disregard all the possible risk of losing. I have lost my allowance which I was too regretful about but I'm glad that I got that experience since that also served me a lesson at an early age. It took me years to gamble again after that but when I reentered gambling again, I made sure that I'm well prepared for the possible consequences.

The physical gambling place where I've been was attractive, the people winning, coins and paper money everywhere so it's like a carnival and that's what attracted me I guess. There can be other incidents in my life that have attracted me to gambling but that's one of the most memorable experiences that I've come up with. Other events were forgotten but the fun that the first time playing and winning has made me attached to it even until now. But as of the moment, I'm trying to limit myself to gambling. I'm no longer the same as before and tries to get myself up and focus on more important expenditures.

I know someone who lost 20k many months ago and got into a 5k in debt because he kept borrowing money from his credit card just to go gamble. That person had 100 dollars in his bank account and no other means of funds to rely on. This sad experience made the person realize one thing which he was in denial about that he weas addicted to gambling. At the time I met the person, he was slowly getting depressed and checked out recently. I encourage the person to going a GA or seek therapy, because I knew it would help him rebuild his shattered self-esteem and develop healthier coping mechanisms. His experience ended in a happy more because through therapy, he learned to separate his self-worth from the outcomes of gambling. And as time went by I noticed that he started to reconnect with his passions and sought joy in other aspects of life outside of gambling.

It's possible that what attracts him to gambling is getting back that $20k. But what made him gamble in the first place?
Some people earn some money already start spending money more than they could even earn, and then result in more debt because they go way above their heads. Embarking on gambling while loaning the money is the worse.

It's good that therapy works and he is coping though. you can't just ruin your life with just that amount. there is so much more in life than playing in a casino.

The ability to spend some time while doing other tasks was the best part about it and really hooked me in. I always say the same thing, being able to lay down on your couch, open up a new series on netflix/disney/hbo whatever, and then being able to actually gamble on your phone when the shot is going on, is the greatest feeling in the world.

I keep doing that probably hours every day when I have the time, like yesterday I had the time so I did it. Of course sometimes life is very filled with stuff that you can't really do that, and during those hectic periods I gamble none at all, but during times when I have a small amount of time, I end up with gambling and the results are usually a lot better and I get to have some fun with it.

A Bitcoiner chooses. A slave obeys.
Those who are experts in gambling would tell you that you're not guaranteed a 100% success rate no matter how skilled or how well you might cliam to have studied the game even though you're a sports Analyst or well informed in a particular sports, gambling has it risks and rewards and most times the risk is greater than the reward, I'll say it's on a ratio of 60:40 that's 60% loss compared to a 40% in winnings, most people newly introduced to sports betting have had several trials yielding losses before they attain jackpot, but it varies because some people are very lucky when it comes to gambling.

About yesterday I came across a friend looking so depressed and sad and tried to interrogate with him then he said he felt like giving up in life and i asked why, he said he used about 80% of his savings to stake on a particular football game and lost, I felt so pity for him and had to encourage him with some advices.

Though I've had losses in gambling but I've never had such a sad one like he's, I was introduced to gambling by a coursemate in college who won a jackpot, thought I lost in my first three trials but played again and won about 80k in my local currency, there are people that's made millions through gambling and some others are yet to win but still find it difficult to quit, share your experience if you have any whether good or bad, cause I believe there are people here who would learn from it.

The biggest problem with gambling is the people who go in with no plan, no strategy, no limits and no risk management and they think that they will get rich in one bet. Well, life does not work like that and neither does gambling. Your friend used 80% of his savings on one bet? What did he expect? I would not even have used 10% on a single bet. Stretch out your bets and you stretch out your risk. And never bet money that is important to you.

No matter how good you think your prediction is on a certain game, never let it emotionally influence you into making such large bets. It is never worth it, in the end!

Of course, I  have made the same mistake and not only once, so I am no better. But I have learned from my mistakes since then. Now I follow a strict plan with loss and betting limits.

The reason why gambling attracted my attention in the first is that the country I live in is a gambling paradise. Also, although it was risky my gambling habit started because it was possible to make money easily from gambling during my student years. Although I did not lose all my savings or large sums of money in gambling, I had this bad habit. Afterwards, I learned to control myself and gambling became just a means of entertainment for me. I continue to gamble at certain intervals especially since the food, beverage and cigarette services are free in the casinos in my own country. Generally, the amount I spend for gambling covers the service I receive in the casino and I have fun for free.

Considering all this gambling history and my current gambling habit it is possible to say that gambling was a bad habit for me at first but now it is nothing more than just a recreational tool.

Football tournament was my first attraction to gambling. When you live in a nation like mine where we love football to death, you wouldn't help but try to monetize your passion and love for the sports through sports betting. There have been highs and lows. Most losses and depression I experienced were at the initial stages of learning how to place a bet, dashed expectations and absolute inexperience. Right now any gambler who still gets sad, unhappy or depressed from gambling is either a beginner or an addict. That person is struggling with gambling addiction and needs help. I have also won lots of money too but it is what it is. The more experienced you get the more you learn that you do not have to bet on every game.

It's because of the possibility of making a profit and will always be the reason why I'm gambling and I'm sure, the majority have the same reasons. Gambling is part of our culture. So I've tried gambling already at a very early age and it's kind of common to see kids doing gambling here in our country.

Profit maybe the reason but what common thing influence people to gamble is the video uploaded by many social media influencers on any social media platform. They share some good vibes, profits and strategy that's why I got or even other convince to gamble. I failed at first but I totally enjoy playing when got bored in the house especially when you have good community or friends to talk about the result of the games you play.

Gambling is a simple method to make money, but there are many other things that become attached down the asphalt; and believe me when I say that the path down in gambling can be extremely nasty. When we benefit from the system, we do unnecessary things with the earnings, such as consuming on additional unimportant things, and when we lose, we simply feel remorseful about our actions, which results in regrets, only for that moment, who would want to quit gambling overnight, even though we have the urge but it's not an easy thing to accomplish?
It's not easy to stop gambling, but someone can stop as long as there is a will. Continuing to control yourself and being able to say no to yourself will give results even though trying to stop takes time. And preferably if a person has never gambled, he should avoid it because the risks involved are more serious than he can imagine. But the point is that gambling is not a fast way to make money but a fast way to lose money. Maybe someone needs to find out more about gambling before he gambles and regrets having lost so much.

I've  gone through replys to this thread and discovered that different people have their different reasons for gambling, some got introduced through peer pressure, some for the love of sports, some other people got introduced through their parents unknowingly as kids, others for fun but I also discovered that a good number of people are gambling to earn more profit, even if you claim otherwise and say you gamble for fun, the thing is nobody is willing to glady loose their hard earned money, even if it stolen or given for free, the thing is even while having fun you know there are chances that you could double your capital and decided to take them.

Gambling, is said to  the betting or staking of something of value, with consciousness of risk and hope of gain, however it is very wise to apply the risk management of gambling when you do, it has many advantages as well as disadvantages and most times it's disadvantages is more and has caused a harmful effect to many individuals because they refuse to acknowledge the risk of gambling and focus more on gaining, In the world of gambling you should note that their's no guaranteed 100% daily success and the bookies or casinos are not a charity organisation that wants you to profit more than them, because even if they come up with strategies that gives you daily profit them in return come up with odds that makes your strategies gradually difficult when they discover. I could go on and on explaining my point but I'll only give a few tips that would help overcome gambling addiction
Avoid being greedy
Know when to quit
Gamble with your spare cash
Make a budget when depositing in a bookie and do not exceed your budget.

Many of us have tried gambling for the same reasons as you. We see that gambling can provide fast money without spending time working. But it's not what we think because there must be winners and losers in playing gambling. In the past, I just joined my friends to play gambling because I thought displaying the game pictures was interesting, and seeing my friends playing gambling, I felt curious to try it. And finally, I tried it too but never thought about winning and losing. But that's what keeps me coming back to gambling.

I think that both of you are very much mistaken in saying that gambling allows you to make quick money. This is not true because gambling is a high-risk game, and a gambler is in danger of becoming addicted to gambling. In my opinion all of these things need to be taken into account. At a normal job you get money depending on the time worked, gambling you not only no one guarantees a win, but also you can lose your money.
Indeed there are those who gamble when they first play they will usually be given a quick win, but human habits have a greedy nature so they continue to play and eventually lose the winning money including the capital even faster, sometimes when they cannot control their emotions to turn around the money they have lost, they will sell anything to play again until they become poor.

Most gamblers who become addicts because they don't understand the risks involved in gambling because gambling is not a place to get rich quick, because gambling should be used as a place of entertainment for fun, don't overdo it in gambling, be wise in gambling bets, because then we will understand how to play gambling. correctly when to play and when to stop.

Way back, what enticed me to try gambling is the money that comes with it. I'm not going to be a hypocrite, I once thought that gambling will provide an easy money. But boy, I was so wrong. And it's just unfortunate that I have to learn it the hard way. I was a victim of hype and FOMO which partly is my fault as well since I didn't research well before, that made me lose my hard-earned money. But it is what it is and the silver lining behind it is that I already learned so much that shaped me into who I am today and it influenced me in making better decisions.

To those who want to try gambling, it's better to search first and look upon the reviews and feedbacks of those people who have first hand experience to prevent encountering unpleasant scenarios in gambling.

It's utter foolishness to use the funds that you cannot afford to lose in gambling while knowing that gambling is a game of luck and nothing is guaranteed in it, so getting influenced by someone because they've won a jackpot and risking your life-savings only with the hope that you might hit the jackpot too is totally senseless. How is it important that someone got lucky so you would get lucky as well just like him? That's not how luck works.

I've never in my life used any funds that are so important in my life in gambling just because of the hope of winning something big with it because I know that if I can win something big, I can lose something bigger as well and I don't find that being worth it at all.

From early childhood I already knew that people cards for money, I have seen places filled with slots machines, but that never attracted me much. Somehow from the movies I found out about poker and poker rules. I think in the beginning of 2000s, from the internet I found out about online poker and some of my class mates played it. Later they started to organize offline poker. I used to  play poker offline, mostly because of good company, lots of fun and drinking whiskey+cola drinks Cheesy Cant blame for bad experience Cheesy

The possibility to earn huge in snap is what attracted me to play gambling. In the early days before I became a gambler, I saw some people flexing their winnings on social media that made them become rich instantly. That's how I became curious to try it as well, (dice is the first game I tried online).

The thought of winning and how easy it can be were replaced by disappointment and losses because that's not what I expected it to be. I became out of control and had to go somewhere away from internet to quit playing. It's a lesson learned for me and an eye opener to not gamble if your main desire is to win. Because it can lead to problem if you have no discipline. Anyway, I still gamble but not often, usually if I have a budget for it.
